Hi Folks!

I'm still on Italy time so it feels like afternoon already. I miss those 40 degree mornings though. It's 17F here in the Commonwealth. 8 miles, 1:07:24 (8:26). I think those hills in Tuscany did me some good.

Celebrate this day!

Nice run Mike!

Stayed up late enough to see the Lunar Eclipse starting (partial) but naturally didn't stay up for the full show.

6.1 recovery miles in an hour. Smarter, more experienced people than me have been trying to get me to slow down my recovery pace. So really tried to keep it slow today - 9:58 min/mile pace - Avg. HR 132, highest HR was only 139.

I wore a new pair of shoes today. Brooks Glycerin 6's. I like 'em! They felt perfect. I got them through RunningWarehouse.com a site recommended by a few of us - Choovie comes to mind.

And the shoes will fit in well at Eugene, seeing as how they're nicely green and all, they'll fit in perfectly with the ecological and political landscape.

Morning Mike and Bill. No moon watching for me last night; too much cloud cover to see it. 5 miles this morning ez. Hope to hit track for first time this season tonight. Bring on the day.

Good evening, Fit and Fabulous Kickster Men and Women.

Just about to turn in for the night. Filled to the gills with Japanese food. Working too hard, but only one day left of that fiddle faddle. Tomorrow night ... we daaaance.

5:45am, 81F, 89% humidity
10k with 3x4:45 (missed by a bit. Kinda dark at that time with uneven pavement and cobbles and twisty turns and cyclists to collide with in the tunnels. That's my excuse. Otherwise felt fine in the morning heat).

I spied with my little eye:

a frightfully fit Indonesian man with perfect running form

a riverside Buddhist shrine

mynah type birds with a rainforesty sounding caw-caw-call

fornicating cats

early morning partyers

sweet smelling flowers

That's all I can remember right now. Pooped tonight. Feet are taking a beating with the H&H and dumb working shoes.

I get on Kick for bits and pieces but the connection is slow (and expensive). Will catch up with all the RRs when I get home. Leave early Saturday morning, hopefully before the Big One hits.

I'm feeling the need for some dry heat now.

Good morning everyone. Since I just arrived last night from my vacation, my body is still used to South America's time so even dough my body was still tired from the trip, my mind woke me up early to fit in a 6 frosty miles this morning. The 19 degree weather I ran in today is such a huge difference from the 93F I had in the last month.

I am looking forward to catching up on everyone's training, tapering and life on the board.

Good morning all!

Nice runs irunmike, breger, ksrunr,Lynden and Mariposai (welcome back too!)

7 miles in 20 degrees today. Can't believe I was in shorts Monday.

5 to 8 inches of snow are predicted for tommorrow into Sat. The race director of the HM I'm running Sat says the race will go on! I rarely take Saturdays off from work so unless there is a blizzard I'm going to go for it. I guess it is a quite challenging course in good conditions so in snow it should be tough. I'll just pull out my Yak-traks and adjust my goals.

DS1 hit a skunk last night. He had his heater on and the smell got in the car. It is sooo bad! We can't wash the car with tomato juice. Any hints to get the smell out of the interior?

Welcome home mariposi

no suggestions on the skunk smell, gin, I hit one once and barely made it home my eyes were watering so bad. Had to park the car outside of the garage for over a month until the stink went away.

30 minutes of yoga, don't think I'll make the gym for pool running today, too much going on. Probably won't have time to do much xtraining this week.

Put me down for the fall asleep at the drop of a hat, and then waking up at 1AM with the mind racing a la labduck, thinking of everything, and finally falling back asleep about an hour before I need to get up. Last time I slept straight thru the night was also after H2C.

Got lucky last night, first of all, no clouds, and then the moon rose through the only gap in 120-150 foot tall pine & fir trees. So I had a great unobstructed view of the eclipse.

Welcome home Mariposai and Mike.
SS, Singapore sounds like a ssensory delight. (Can't cats be subjected to caning for fornicating in public there?)
As I sat outside in the bitter cold last night, watching the moon sail into earth's coppery shadow, I thought, Cool solar system to inhabit!

0845
12F, brilliant sunshine
9 miles, 7:45 pace
Felt like a pleasant cruise... the totally unreasonable sproink continues. Maybe all that X-training and core stuff while I was injured actually did some good. Bring on the desert!

Anyone else going to see Spirit of the Marathon tonight? I'm looking forward to seeing it with my hot date, rochrunner. It's a 2.5 hour movie, so I hope there will be Gatorade and portapotties.

Welcome back butterfly!

Nice runs mike, breger, ksrunr, Gordon, gin (shorts in 20 deg?) and tom

6 Magical Healing Miles with Tory in blustery 35F with nice full moon giving way to clouds. Silky smooth run in New Asics 2130's which seem very comfortable. Better than the 2120's. I've been battling an irritation in my leg that comes and goes (since December). On bending the leg (heel to butt) there is a sore spot on the back of the leg down near the knee joint (backside) and medial. It's like when all those tendons tighten up on flexing, something rubs and makes a sore spot. I'm focussing on strengthening and stretching. It doesn't affact running... yet

Have great runs!

Good news about your dad Tom.

Gin79, call your vet. They have tips for getting the smell out of dogs. It may work for the car.

Though the temps are still much below normal....ever since my grandson was born......(draw your own conclusions), the sun was out on occasion. The dog and I put in 8.15 energetic miles. She gets really upset that the deer we see have no inerest in joining us. One huge farm has 3 dogs that come out when I run by. Though the raod is public, it goes right through the farm. I consider myself the trespasser and the dogs usually follow me for a 1/2 mile or so. Today they were working and just came out to sniff butts really quick then got back to their chores. This was the best run of the year.

Nice run, Steve! I'm amazed that samoyed runs those distances... I think they're originally freight dogs. I've been thinking of getting a retired sled-dog but they're so stubborn and hard to train (to obedience stuff, not running!).

Welcome back, Mariposai! You'll have to do a whole thread on your trip and your solo marathon!

SS, yes indeedy some dry heat will be nice! Heck, running outside in shorts is gonna be a thrill for me! I'm amazed you can run so well over there... I recall from Thailand that the streets/sidewalks are not in very good shape, and there's no liability laws over there. If you trip and fall on broken cement or whatever, they'll say you should watch where you're going (not that there's anything wrong with that, actually!).

I got in a wonderful run after all last night! 10.82 miles in 90 minutes...
Whew! Felt great. That was a barrier breaker for me, getting those two 10k miles together. Then I went and studied my relay legs... pretty boring long straight stretches but wonderful downhill runs! I am so pumped about this. can't wait to get on that plane in... OMG! One Week! Arrrggghhhh!
I'll be impossible to live with very soon....

Funny new shoe story... last night's run was first run in new Asics Gel Nimbus 9's with sorbothane insoles. Repeat play from last 4 pairs so nothing exciting there. I'm also trying the Asics Speedstars as race shoes for this summer, and these just never did feel right. Checked them (finally) last night... and they're two different sizes! Took me this long to figure out. Princess and the Pea I am not. Back they go... RoadRunnerSports already has new pair on the way!
