Howdy all. Today is a day off from running for me. I may hit the gym after work if I feel like it. Or I may just be lazy.

Yesterday I had a nice 9 mile run up and down hills, average pace 9:08. Hopefully these hills are getting me ready for the Mercedes. Still, I'm sure that hill at Mile 23 won't be fun...

Enjoy the day, folks!

This is why I'm afraid to use a Daniel's plan, that looks tiring...nice workout!

Not too much here today, just an easy 11. I think the "hill work" yesterday was good for me. I was tired only for a little while after, then bounced back fine yesterday evening.

How solid do you guys think the motioned based elevation chart is? When I use my Polar, it's pretty dead on unless sweat or something clogs the sensor; but the Garmin (which I used yesterday) is all over the place. Here's my run yesterday...keep in mind it's basically dead flat here until I hit a little bridge to get over to the ocean and then I went over Linton bridge about 7/8 times for the 5 miles in the middle. You can kind of see the "hill work" in the middle, but I can assure you that there isn't a large downhill in my first mile.

Have good runs today, everyone!

Morning all!

I managed 3.5 last night - no pain! I'm getting very confident that I can now get myself back on track with running. *Cautiously* Yay! I also can say I love[/]b my Petzl headlamp. I can run at night, see where I'm going, be seen. It's way better than just a reflective vest!

Jen - I've wondered that myself, but I say Bob needs to show us one of the track run results and the elevations on those...

It's official - I signed up for a marathon relay at the end of February with my coworkers. I took the 9 mile leg - gulp - I made sure they knew that I was up for participating, but not to plan on me being fast or anything. I'll walk part if I have to, but I like having an upcoming race to use as a goal post.

Good runs to all today!

Hey all:

Easy 5 last night, easy 10 @ 8:20s this morning - HR 122. Shin was sore on and off. Massage therapy tonight so I will hopefully get some input on this. (Woot, huh, Theia?!?!)

Jen - I know my Garmin elevation chart is crazy. I kinda gave up on Motionbased. It was just too much work and the free account wasn't that good.

That said, the Mac garmin software is lousy.

Heading out for an easy run in a while. I was going to do hill repeats as per my schedule but I pulled a muscle in my leg and don't want to aggravate it.

Nice hills Frankie and Bob

Great running Ailarie and Noni (and congrats on signing up for the marathon relay)

Tom, that's why I like SportTracks. I compared it with the garmin log/software and SportTracks won out.

Noni - good for you on the relay. Nice to see you getting back at it.

No running for me today. Felt nice to sleep past 5 AM.

As far as graphing spftware goes, I am a non-GPS runner, but I do lay out courses on sites such as mapmyrun.com, usatf.org, and runningahead.com. I can get elevation charts from there.

Morning all. I'm hoping to squeeze in a run after work today.

Jen - I'm not a fan of Motionbased either and as Tom said, the Garmin software for Mac is total crap. There was another site mentioned in another forum here... let me go find it.

Congrats on cowboying up Norah!

QOD - Will you be heading out to see Spirit of the Marathon tonight? I will!

I'll be running something tonight.

QOD- I am not going to the movie, though I would have liked to. A bunch of people from my running group are meeting for it. I had some extra bills this month and money is a bit tight, so I decided to pass on it and hope that it will come out on DVD soon.

QOD - No. I have a PTO read-a-thon kickoff that I will be attending after work * and then I have the Rangers retirement of Brian Leetch's jersey (will have to be DVR'ed) to watch. Plus, the nearest location to me was in White Plains, NY, about an hour from my house.

* Chris Meloni (from Law and Order SVU) was supposed to be our guest reader for this, but he had something to do out of the country, so he bailed at the last minute. Unfortunatly, he could not get Mariska Hagerty to substitute either.

Noni What race are you and your co-workers doing? I'm working towards the Skunk Cabbage 1/2 in April. Way to get out there-good for you!

3-4 outside tonight. I think we're heading back to my MIL's this weekend - have to run while I can!

PTom is hoping for input from a massage therapist? Hopefully you won't get busted in some undercover sting operation, code named "Happy Ending."

JenRuns That course looks basically flast if you look at the scale on the left. But I wouldn't put absolute faith in it, just a guideline.

QOD NO! And I'm not happy about it. My wife's grandmother passed away this week - probably a good thing, she went very peacefully - and we're spending time with her wacked out family. I'm hoping to get in some kind of run later today but there's no way I'll be able to see the movie on the big screen.

QOD no as I have not heard of it.

Well I played nearly 2 hours of basketball last night. That counts for my running or something.

What is FLAST?? Is it flat and fast????? I like that!

Oh no, I have no faith at all in it...I know it's way the heck off. Since our house is about 5ft. above sea level, if I went down a 75 ft. hill on my one mile run to get over to the beach I'd be swimming instead of running. It's laughable, for sure, I just wish it was a little better, though it's not a big deal down here.

I was just hoping to see a little something for spending 5 damn miles running over the same damn bridge. At one point, I saw a guy that runs on the local running store's team doing the bridge on the other side--at least I wasn't all alone. We just kind of gave that pitiful "my tired, too" wave to each other at one point.

PTOM: I hope your shin loosens up. It seems like it was better and now it's back bugging you again.
