The mile race was a BLAST last night, it's such a fun race! Kept it nice and under control and ran a 5:53, passed about 5 women in the last 300 meters and ended up 3rd overall F. It's a much easier race when you go out slow and just pick it up as it goes on, though I'm sure I could have been a lot faster if I went for it, but it's not quite time for that yet (getting closer, though, I think!!). I don't think I warmed up nearly enough, I didn't feel very comfortable or loose until the last 1/4 mile...MJR took video of the finish, I'm such a shuffler! Thankfully I'm a marathoner, I look silly out there during these short races.

I won't do much today, I want to see how the back/leg reacts to that faster running last night. I haven't run a sub-6 mile since sometime in April when I was doing my mile repeats (up to 6 at that speed, I can't even imagine doing that right now, sigh). I'll probably get out for a few later. This week will be light mileage with the 2 races I've done in the past 5 days and I'm going to be starting up training on Sunday! I can't wait to see what coach lets me do!!!!

Nice repeats last night, Bob!

Hi Jen!

I got 9 miles done ultra early this morning. Felt ok. I was a little hungry and so lost energy about 5 miles in.

Hugs to all the 30's with hurty parts. Get yourselves better.

Morning all. Nice mile Jen. I know this is something that we all should NOT do, but I get depressed knowing that in HS I was able to run a sub-5 mile, and now breaking 8 would be an effort. Hell, I race walked a sub 7.

RFTL - Even as a morning runner myself, I have always admired your ability to get 'er done on such a consistent basis, and running significant distances.

Swam 2300 yds yesterday, and then got blindsided by a friend about an issue with something that I'm being brought into unfairly. Someone putting words in my mouth. Enough of this drama stuff already! So tired of being the recipient of the BS from other people's issues! I need this year to be over.

4 miles this morning before work. It was chilly, but not too bad.

Congrats, Jen!

I missed that smilie. Since I can't do that IRL, it makes me feel much better to do it here.

Core stuff, arm stuff, and 3 on the tm. It's f-ing cold here, and the sunroom (where the tm is) is so cold that I didn't even start to sweat until 2.5 miles in.

Work interefered with my treadmill lunch date yesterday, but I finally did get down there at 3:30 for a couple quick miles. That's all I had time for. Dangit. I brought my duds again today and hope to get 3 miles in on my lunch hour. Three is about the max I can get in and still shower and get back to my desk. I Just. Can't. Do. The. Early. Morning. Run. Although I did get up and do some hatha yoga stretching stuff that I have been totally neglecting after my runs. Like I said, I have just enough time to get the miles in and shower. sigh.

Howdy all - got in some more yoga yesterday, then engaged in what has become something of a new ritual - playing catch with one of those beach-ball-sized rubber balls with my niece. If nothing else, it's getting my reflexes a workout so that the ball doesn't hit the fish tank or some other breakable object

Morning all. I made it through the holiday company party pretty well last night but used my running time this morning to sleep in a bit. Will get out for some miles after work.

Well I had an overnight Triple! 6 miles on the TM yesterday afternoon and then I got up for a swim this morning. ONly my training friend wanted to do a run as well, so i did Friday's run after the swim! Like Mindi said the other day... I feel like such a badass.

Thanks, guys. I was pleased with that run last night. It wasn't much (24 minutes total), but it gets the job done at this point so soon before a race...

The weather for Charlotte on Saturday looks good. Low of 39, high of 54 and cloudy. I'll take it...

Litch - My knee is all arthriticy in this super cold weather too - so I can fully empathize.

Gooooooo Bob! I hope you have a fun race!

Moonie - I completely second your post.

No run for me. My stomach is definitely improving, but was still quite gurgly this morning. I may run tomorrow, or may just hold off until Saturday. I lost FIVE pounds in the last 2 days, which is obviously not good. I am downing the water/electrolytes and trying to eat. But that eating thing is still a challenge. I had a bagel this morning and almost vomitted at the thought of eating it. Gah.

Not fun: we are supposed to get lots of snow starting tonight and then more on Saturday. And it is supposed to not only stay insanely cold, but get into the negatives next week. Damn. I am not ready for the treadmill already. This is February weather, not December weather.

Little miss evil for me this morning. The week has been thrown off a bit by jury duty, but I'm not too worried about it. Planning on a few miles one way or the other tomorrow and running with J on Sunday.

5.1 miles this morning. Think I'm actually getting used to running in temps in the 20s...or maybe it was there was no wind today 'cause it felt almost balmy out there!

4 miles, or should I say 15% of a marathon, on Pre's trail at lunch today. The first few steps were treacherous, but things loosened up enough for me to move along at maybe 10 m/mi pace. I miss my NPR podcast, so it was good to get in a full Wait, Wait.
