I haven't run as many miles I would have liked but overall it's been a solid month I think and have made lots of progress in other areas besides the running.

Hopefully the weather will start getting a bit easier from here on out and February will be a good month for everyone.

Good morning, Scratch and all who follow. Had a beautiful 3.5 miles last night. Pace is improving as fitness improves. Achilles is doing REALLY well. 2d run in a row where I honestly was sad to quit - just felt like I could keep going.

January is - by far - the best month I have had in well over 18 months. I need to skip fewer runs, and then the numbers will continue to climb. I may still get over 1,000 miles for the year!!

Have a great Thursday!

Good morning, guys. Last night I did 6.8 miles of intervals. Not a bad run, but not great either. I've got some lingering funkiness in my feet. I wouldn't call it pain, but my feet just don't feel right. Today is an off day, and I think I really need it. Hopefully I'll be back to normal by tomorrow...

Well, since I won't be running today, I guess that means my January totals are in the books. 169.0 miles at an average 8:52 pace. I suppose I'm good with that...

And by the way, I registered last night for the Eugene and San Diego Marathons. Eugene was just a matter of time. But I had to get in for San Diego before the price goes up $15. It's still not 100% official that I'll be in California for business then, but it does seem likely, and it seems to be worth the risk. Worst case scenario is I'm out 85 bucks. Hmm.

So this means I am registered for 3 marathons in the next 4 months. Yeesh. I hope I know what I'm getting myself into. And geez, I wasn't even drunk when I registered last night!

Well, have a great day, everyone...

Good morning!
I wound up doing some speed work yesterday on the treadmill. It wasn't too bad. I'm hoping to get some sort of running in later today. We'll see how the day goes.

Sounds like a productive month Bob!
I love to have runs like that Gov.
It sounds like you had a well rounded month Scratch!

My totals for the month are not where I thought they would be. Februalry is a new onth and I should be starting off with a nice 10 miler.
Okay, coffee time. Have a great day all!

Good Morning!

Recovery day today, so 6am and 4pm. That will put me at 324 miles for the month. I might need to run an extra mile just to make it an even 325. I did all my planned runs except 2, day before (time reasons) and the day after (tired/sore) the half; so I think this plan is going to work for me--I'm feeling great.

Gov. sounds like you are in an awesome place with your running, it cool when you want to just keep on going. Bob, I'm sure your foot will feel fine tomorrow, have a nice day off, rest up.

RFTL and Dom: Your pictures are awesome. It looks so pretty up there, I miss the snow.

I got my pictures from the half...not too pretty. I guess when I try to kick to the finish, there is no relaxed smiling just gasping for air. And, my eyes were closed in a bunch--I guess I should have just wore my sunglasses. None were great, but here's the finish line. It's more fun when DH is at the race, he bikes around taking pictures and it's easier to get a "fun" one.

Have good runs today!

Ooh, I just looked at my schedule. Today and tomorrow are both scheduled off days. Normally the taper drives me nuts, but this time I think it's coming at exactly the right time. My body needs some rest, and two straight days off is probably a good thing..

Bob: Time for new shoes maybe? Where is the funkiness? Maybe just fully unlace the ones you've got and relace to make sure you're not clamping down somewhere? Maybe give them a good soak tonight?

Gov: Awesome. Take it slow and you'll be back to full strength soon. i.e so what I say, not what I do

Jen: Nice month! Nice picture too. That's the agony of running 1:33!

Nice, super easy 5 last night >9 min pace. Tonight 10-15 depending on time.

If I get time for a good one tonight that will put me up over 250 for the month and close to a monthly high.

DD still has the puke bug and can't even keep Gatorade down, but did sleep last night. However DW now has it and did not. Ugh!

This just about sums up my month too. The VRAA has me doing other stuff for points, so I have been doing as much core work as I have since I had my back issues, which is a good thing. My back is almost a non-issue (I think it will always be a maintenance issue), which is a great thing. Now if I could only get my heal\achilles\PF figured out. That is not debilitating, but it is a constant annoynace.

Monthly totals: 111 miles (2nd highest ever, only other month higher was followed by injuries), Avg pace 10:07 (wow, that is a lot faster than I thought - two races and weekly tempo\cruise interval workouts will speed that up, and I missed one LR, which would have lowered the pace.

gov - very happy to hear about your running renaissance, but I get concerned when you are posting at 3 AM PST - get some sleep.

Jenruns - don't be so modest about the pic - you look fantastic. And I am seriously jealous of that 1:33.

ptom - looks like you have rebounded well from you calf issues.

Gives me 41.5 for the month. that should be closer to 60, but i think i'll get up there next month.
still better than the 30 or so i'd been getting for the last 4 months. also, i'm logging runs again, which seems to be a good sign.

I am going to try to "reboot" myself for the new month and get going again. If it's not raining at 4 pm today when I get off I will go run this afternoon. If it is running I need to at least cross train. Mebbe I will do something productive today.

Mandaroo great pic of your pup for the avatar.

Morning all. Back to the weights tonight and running on the TM. Bleck.

boB - keep meaning to comment on the SD Marathon/course/etc. This was my first marathon and I really enjoyed it. It starts at 6:30 a.m. so there's a good shot of missing any real heat and sun, which we were lucky enough to escape that day. The course is good but there are big chunks without any crowd support and one section (I think it's somewhere around miles 8-10) where you run on a banked highway. That's no fun. Miles beyond 20 include a series of turns and some bridges but none of them are of significant elevation (in the vacinity of Sea World). Hmmmm, what else. Try to stay downtown somewhere.

Jen - great job again in Miami; that picture shows how hard you worked

Good morning folks!
I'm sore, tired and I have to get ready for a run soon. I guess DH's workout he made for me did me more good than I thought, or at the very least I used some muscles I don't normally use.

Morning all.

Going to hit the treadmill this morning at home for some easy miles.

Will put me at 141 miles for the month. On the lower end for me but being that it was the first four weeks of my marathon plan for Eugene it's just what I expected.

Hi Maples!

I've got a run scheduled tonight. Probably 3 officially, I may do 4 instead since I did not run after yoga last night.

looking forward to running over lunch today, supposed to climb back above zero by then so I am getting outside for a sure. Legs are feelin so good, can't wait to run a a few. I am tempted to put in a very long run this weekend (16+) but figure I better be careful since I am still technically in recovery from a crappy race this week.

happy running everyone!!
