Morning, folks!

I didn't make it in here yesterday b/c I was busy. But great job, Duck, on Boston! Sounds like a great trip and great experience. I had EXACTLY the same thing happen with me just before the finish (right calf seized up). Fortunately after a couple steps it went away for me too. Although you finished a couple minutes faster than me and ran a smarter race. :)

BOB - supah excited for your race. Any updates on the weather? After some crappy cold snowy rainy days here, the sun is finally shining.

I have 8 with 3 x 1 mile repeats tonight. Was supposed to do it yesterday, but was super busy at work and then opted to go to happy hour with DH instead.

Good news: already lost another pound this week. I love that about taper. Why is it that I always drop 2-3 lbs just by cutting back on mileage? Anyone know? I still eat the same....

Oh, and last question: are you feeling better Timr? I still have a head cold, but I am hoping it leaves soon.

EDITED TO ADD: Already checking the weather reports for Eugene. It is way too early, but I can, so I am. :)

Good morning. The latest update on the weather looks like it'll be a wet and miserable day for me on Saturday. The forecast I'm seeing shows a temp of 31 degrees early in the morning. It says rain, but obviously that's cold enough to snow. Frankly, I'd rather it be snow. Cold rain is always worse, because it just soaks into you and makes you feel much colder than snow does. Looks like temps will hit about 50 later in the day. That much temperature swing might make it hard to dress myself appropriately.

Not only will this make for an unpleasant run and some major chaffing issues, but it might prevent me from doing the BobCam thing. Well, I did try it in St Louis when it rained the whole time, but it pretty much ruined my (cheap) camera. I don't know if I'm willing to do that with my current camera. But since this is such a small event, there might not be enough stuff worth taking pictures of anyway, so maybe it's not a huge loss.

The worst part is that my wife, daugther, and parents are all planning on coming out to see me at the end. I haven't talked about it with them yet, but I can understand if they won't want to do that in the rain. Oh well...

Anyhoo, I did an easy 25 minutes on the TM last night. I might do a similar easy run tonight. I plan on going to bed rediculously early both tonight and tomorrow to make sure I'm very well rested...

yes, thanks. I am feeling better, but not 100% yet. I did run those 3 x 1 mile repeats yesterday. I'm ahead on mileage so I cut the workout down to just 6 miles. I'm taking today off. I haven't started looking at the weather yet. Hang in there. Almost there.

Morning Gang -

Uggggg, Bob, that will be frustrating if it rains. But I still think it's too early to count on it.

I don't lose weight during taper, Mindi. Not sure why you do?!

How are our Boston Peeps feeling? Saw that Jill has sworn off marathoning for good. I do that every time I run a marathon.

I got 8 miles done yesterday and 8 miles this morning with 8x400m hill repeats mixed in. They were slow and sucky.

Good runs to all!

Morning all! I met up with two new (to me) runners this morning in CP for some miles on the bridle path, got 8.5 mi done altogether and loved the new morning running buds!

boB - are the parking lots close enough to the spot where you'll start up each new loop to have your car there w/dry clothing, socks, extra body glide, etc?

Good morning! I was able to run reasonably well this morning - though when I tried to slow down at a traffic light it looked like I spent a long weekend in prison, if ya know what I mean!

I'm in recovery/taper mode now - pacing 3 hours at the Pig will not be as easy as I'd hoped, and then racing Pittsburgh 2 weeks after that could be an epic bonk. I told my wife last night "That sounded like a really good idea a few months ago!" My co-pacer for the Pig told me yesterday he's got some Achilles issues right now - I'm hoping he'll be able to at least meet us somewhere for the last 8-10 miles so he can bring the group in if I blow like an Atlantic City streetwalker.

Thanks for the e-support during Boston - and it was great to see Dan, Moe, Duck and Mr/Mrs Jen. The Cincinnati crew had a great day for the most part - all 5 of the All Stars ran untethered but we all broke 3 hours (ranging from 2:51-2:59...I was the caboose!). There's a GREAT picture of me smooching the wife on Marathonfoto - bib #642 if you want to see something that grossed out my daughter this morning!

Maria, I have no idea how close the parking lot is. I'll definitely keep it in mind. I was just thinking about keeping a little (waterproof) bag of something near the start/finish line, and just hope that nobody messes with it. I think I will insanely overpack. I'd rather have tons of stuff in the car that I end up not using, as opposed to not having something that I wish I had...

I don't doubt there will be a small area where others have drop bags esp if there are longer races staged that day, you mentioned a 100K and 50M too, right? Otherwise I bet the parking lot is close, that's how these ultra folks work. ;)

Can I quote you and say that is exactly how felt this morning? I did not even want to get out of the freaking bed. Just a major case of the blahs.

So as to know miss a workout, tonight after work I am going to ride the bike for an hour (my regular Friday exercise). Then tomorrow morning I can go run the 2 miler from today.

Since I was a bum and did not complete any fitness I will pass on a sports play from 45 minutes down the road that made national sports headlines:

Kara's post race blog. I really like how her thoughts turned to Desi as she had a legit shot at the win.

Hi all - just wanted to give my props to our Boston check-ins (Pacer, Duck and Roots) and I hope our two other Boston peeps (Jill & Jen) are resting up well.

boB - definitely better to be overprepared than under in those potential conditions. And I can vouch for what Maria said, especially if it's a loop course like I think I remember you mentioning.

Anyway, I'm aiming for June as a return to glory (ha!) so to speak. If scheduling will allow me, I'm aiming to go the day after getting back from C-bus in May to get this darn hernia fixed up. That'll give me two weeks of recovery going into June, and then I can start the training back up and figure out then what I want to shoot for in terms of a fall/winter race
