H E L L OOOOOO in here.

This is the new run thread. I ran twice yesterday. Did an 8 mile tempo yesterday morning at 7:28 pace and felt pretty decent. Went to the LRS to get in a 2nd run. Planned to run the 5 mile route easy. Got talked into going the 8 mile route. Pace was easy, but it's very hilly and it was 95 degrees when we started. Turns out 8 miles was about 2 miles too far. So at 6, I shut it down and me and another guy run / walked it in back to the start.

Tim, I was up early and tried to get a good hill work out in. I bailed early, too. Way too humid and hot out there and my head felt like it was gonna pop off. I did get about a half hour's worth of it in, though, so I don't feel too bad.

morning

7.3 last night at Hyland. The storms had rolled through right before so on the plus side the temp dropped 10 degrees. Unfortunately the humidity was at 70F making it a sticky sticky run. In addition, the rain they had must have been a downpour because the paths were deeply rutted ~ even the woodchipped ones had channels down to the dirt in them. We saw 2 turkeys, 3 bunnies and 3 OWLS on the run as well. The owls were pretty darn cool - I had never seen one in the wild before. Oh and I got a new tank that I wore and it was not nice to my arms. They are mega chafed and the shower was a painful one.

Got up and ran 3 this morning and would like to get something in after work before lifting.

OOOOO - and I was running with the guy I normally run with who finished like 20 min before me at Afton. He is normally faster on downhills and short distances while I have a better HM and M performance. We were talking about lifting after Afton which was brutal on the legs. Well, I learned that I leg press equal or minus 20 lb of what he does (depending on the angle of the bench). whoa! that is awesome....explains the mega legs I got going on!

morning!

Got out early for 6 miles this morning. I was informed last night that our store is going up against our sister store in a local 5k in August. All 5 (or 6?) people's times will count. Considering I'm the slowest runner on our team, I need to get back to some speed work! So I did 2x400m repeats at the end of my run. With the humidity at 93% this morning, I was soaked returning to my house.

Good work, Timr, Bob, RFTL and Clare!

Cool nature run (but sucks about the chafing) Brandy!

Pacer - good to see you here yesterday!

Good morning! 7 early miles for me today. I cant wait to start back with the training soon. I finally decided on a half marathon this fall. I was contemplating going back to Harrisburg in September or doing one here the same day but the heat factor in Sept kept holding me back. Then I found out about a brand new HM in Hershey the first weekend of October. We actually being/end in Hershey Park and I can only imagine all the yummy chocolate in the swag bags. In fact, there is a chocolate aid station near the end of the race. Sounds great to me.

Morning all! I met up with a local runner here and got my hill sprints done this morning, up and down Harlem Hill, up and down again, rinse repeat. Ended up with 10 miles and a thoroughly soaked running outfit including the shirt that I took off after the first 2 miles. Our humidity caught up with our heat, a juicy 86% at 6:30 a.m. Momma!

Norah - you set yourself up for a sweet combo, Strand & Otto in the same visit - heaven!

Am I the only one who has to sign in each time I get on here? Could be operator error on my part...

I'm whipped - been a busy several days for me. Running wise I sort of hit a new plateau - artificially! There was a mile race on July 2 and I broke 5 minutes (4:54)...never mind that the last third of the race is downhill! It still hurt like hell and gave me a whole new appreciation for speedsters. I also did the local track series this past Monday on a BLAZING hot day - new PR for me in the rarely contested 1 mile half-ass steeplechase (no water jump, 2 30" hurdles each lap) and an absolute melt-job in the 5000. The last few days have been brutal.

And I've been cycling a bit - rode 32 miles last night and, despite a stiff neck, enjoyed myself. It's too farging hot to run hard so riding is a decent substitute.

SUPER excited for the Dutch to claim their first World Cup this Sunday! I still have some friends who live in The Netherlands and they said it's been wild...one dude's Facebook status on Wed was simply "Eff me, what a party!"

Pacer, did you check the "keep me logged in" button?

I'm taking today off due to pf in my left foot, annoyed/swollen right ankle, aching butt/hammies & aching obliques (?). As in I can feel it when I breathe.

Plus I slept like crap.

I plan to spend a bunch of time in the studio, so at least there's that.

Well, this is DIFFERENT.

The internet service (and phone, too) up here is the suck. I'm jammed over to the left side of the bus and kind of have a connection to my parent's network. We'll see if I can make it through a post.

Someone needs to fill me in on all the happenings! What's been going on? I'm behind on phone calls and emails, I can't seem to get online long enough or ever get a cell signal.

I'm still dealing with this BAD distal hammy tear. I think it's starting to make progress, but my summer of running in the great northern weather has been totally jacked up. Oh well, stuff happens. I'll be back at some point. I refused to admit how bad it was for too long, but so many things pop up that tend to just go away, I had hope...oops.

Once I'm able to run for real again, I'll need to see if there will be time for a late fall race (maybe CIM) or if I'll need to scale back and just do shorter stuff until spring. I'm going nuts not running, I had plans of several 100 mile plus weeks over this summer, hahahah. At least it's giving me time to really, really work on my core. Team uni's next year involve bun huggers, so it's time to tone up...everywhere! I also ordered a wetsuit that should be here tomorrow, so I hope to get my open water swimming skills dialed in over the summer. The bike hurts the leg just about as much as running, so I haven't been on that save for one short test ride. I do want to try to get into some tri's over the summer, we'll see how that plays out.

I hope you guys are all doing well and running healthy!!! Someone pound out a nice 20 plus miler over the weekend for me!

G'morning all. 1000 yd at the pool yesterday that was sort of a last minute deal. I twisted my ankle on Monday's 12-miler - normally it doesn't turn out to be a big deal (I have "twisty ankles" for lack of a better term) but I noticed soreness coming on Tuesday afternoon on my rest day. Yesterday it was only marginally better, so I went for the swim (which I needed to get back to doing anyway)

Today it's still a little tender to the touch, but isn't noticeable when I'm walking. Still, considering the luck of this group in regard to ankle injuries, I'm thinking at least one more day off of it wouldn't hurt anything but the part of my brain that curses me when I take more than one day off in a row.

Jen - good to see you! Sorry though about the continuing issues with the hammy I hope it comes out even stronger after the rehab

Brandy - woohoo for strong legs!

Great workouts already folks...and good runs & workouts to you all

I stayed up too late last night with my dinner date and hit snooze too many times this morning to get a run in. And I have to run errands with DD and I really have to cut the grass after work tonight. I'll have to see how I can fit my run in. It may be a late one - which would be okay if it cools down some, or I may go to the gym and run on the mill. 6 miles on the mill though. argh. makes me feel stabby.

oo we can insert video? could we do that before?

Today's scheduled 5 mile run was relocated to the basement due to rain. Again, thank you to Versus and the Tour de France for entertainment.
