Morning all. I had a good run in the park. A bit of a chill with mist rising over the lake.

As I stated late yesterday I was happy to find Hal Higdon's 10k plan to give me scheduling ideas for my workouts. It gave me some good ideas to bring all my workouts together in a weekly plan. I'm excited to have two days devoted to my bike. I like my new bike and really wanted to actually use the thing rofl. His plan is a good one, spread out over six days and incorporating running, cross training, cycling and stretching (will substitute pilates). Last night I wrote out on my April calendar the full months worth of exercising culminating with the 10k at the very end of the month.

Good morning, Maples. I hope everyone else is fitnessing a bit too, despite this late start to the thread...

Actually, I might need a day off today. I feel a little creaky today. And I just took a day off on Sunday! Two days off within a week! Oh, the horrors!

Meh, I got some errands I can run after work anyway. I guess I'll see how I feel this evening...

Morning!

Maples - glad you found a good plan / plan supplement. You sound like you have a good schedule now.

BoB - sorry to hear you are a bit creaky. I think you definitely deserve a day or three off. :)

I am creaky this morning too. After 11 Tuesday and 12 last night with 1200 meter intervals, my 6 mile recovery run this morning wasn't all too easy. But it was very slow - just as it should be. I also did some arm weights. I am starting to get nice definition in my arms, but have been slacking the last couple of weeks. Time to pick it back up in these final weeks. I am starting to get very excited that I am in the peak of training and that taper time is right around the corner. Things are coming together well for me. Hopefully the weather gods will smile on me when it comes down to show time. I think if they do, my 3:25 is within reach.

I opted for rest this morning to try to get over the snotfest that is my nose this week. But, I just scheduled an after work run with J to make up for it.

I woke up at 3:30am -- wide awake -- thinking it was already almost 6am (I usually get up for work at 5:25am). When I realized I had a few more hours to sleep, I was thrilled. Then, 45 minutes later when I was still wide awake, I decided to get to the pool and get my swim done this morning. SO, packed up all my stuff and was swimming shortly after 5am.

I'm gonna be asleep by 4th period.

Morning gang -

Dang, that sounds like a tough week of running Mindi! How long is your long run this week?

I did 8 x 300meter hill reps mixed in my run this morning and thought I was going to die. Even after my 1.5mile sloooow cool down and 10 minutes of stretching/laying-on-the-ground, I was still breathing heavy. (The workout called for 10 reps, but I cut it short since I am technically still ramping my mileage back up).

Good runs to all today!

My week is insane! It should look like this:

M: rest

T: 11 easy (done)

W: 12 with 4x1200m intervals (ouch - done)

R: 6 recovery (done)

F: 15 easy

Sa: 6 recovery

Sun: 21

I am actually going to try to fit 4 recovery miles in tonight before GOTR if I can work it. That will get me to 75 miles for the week - I place I have never been before. Wish me luck! I need it!!

Good luck ramping back up. I think you are smart to take it easy given how aggressive the schedule is.

3 miles this morning - my stomach wasn't happy but the weather this morning is better than it is going to be tonight and I have a hair cut scheduled for after work as well.

Woot! I'm in the same boat as you. I'm feeling really strong and think that my training has hit a new level. Last week was 66.2 miles for me and that is clost to a mileage PR. I'm at 260 for the month and that's a mileage PR. Our weeks are similiar too:

m - rest

tues - 7.5 miles w 5 x 1200m (at 6:30 pace or better)

wed - 13.1 easy

today: 16 easy (this will be my long run for the week)

f - 5 ez

s - 3 -4 ez

sun - race HM + warm up/cool down. Shooting for sub 1:34.

Then just one more monster week and it's taper time for Flying Pig. I hope we get good weather.

RIL - you're gonna knock it out of the park. I'm excited for your race.

I'm so excited for all of you guys racing and re-catching the running bug. I'm still waiting to re-catch the bug, still hoping that the turn in weather and longer days will spark the mojo and soon. It's weird, I can't really explain it other than I want to want to run.

Trying stuff like this to inspire me:

Love that photo!

Maples I've used Hal Higdon training plans for all my training plans and have been pretty happy with them.

Yoga Sculpt last night was meh. I guess I prefer to keep my Yoga and weight training type workouts seperate. But, it was something new to try. They're going to have a Girls Night Out thing at the DAHLC - a hip hop groove class, then yoga, then dinner with wine! I probably won't go but it sounds like a fun deal!

Tim - our races are the same day, so hopefully we'll have great weather all around!! Good luck with these next couple of weeks as well (and with the upcoming half!). Glad to hear I have a high-mileage partner in crime these last few weeks!

I'm feeling less creaky now, so I might be able to run today after all. If I do, it'll be something easy. No way I'll be approaching 75 miles in a week like some of you nuts. The 52 I did last week is a lot for me. Plus, I want to try for a HM PR on Sunday. I set a PR last year at this race (1:41:something), so I certainly think I can be in that ballpark again. But of course the ultra is only 3 weeks away, so I can't go all out for the HM to the detriment of the ultra. Meh. Whatever happens, happens.

I still have nothing on the schedule for after the ultra. I think I might not be able to get in another marathon until the Fall. I'm already going to be away (in Las Vegas) for work in June, and I think it might bother DW if I take off again for a race soon thereafter. So it looks like Missoula Montana in July is out of the question. There are a few in September or ealry October that might work for me:

Sat Sep 3: Pocatello ID

Sat Sep 17: Logan UT

Sun Sep 25: Omaha NE

Sat Oct 1: St George UT

Sat Oct 1: Bristol NH

Sun Oct 2: Fort Collins CO

Sun Oct 2: Portland ME

Anybody know anything about any of these?

Brandy - what's up with The Shoe Whisperer? I called to make an appointment (my shoe is now discontinued, which is fine cuz I think I need something different anyway) and they said, "we still can't say for sure when we are able to schedule with her" They made it sound like she's out and like I should have known she's out. They encouraged me to come in and get fitted with them and said, "she's taught us alot so we can all do fittings too. We're not as good as her, of course. But if you need them now, come in". I need them now and don't know how much longer I can wait. Should I just go to one of them or wait for her?

save Omaha for another year and I'll do it with you. (Can't this year - I'm already signed up for Twin Cities) I went to college in Omaha and have looked at going back for that one. I know nothing about the course, but I know where all the good bars are.

Um.. well, she's out for a while and it is unknown when she'll be back.

If I were you, I would just go in now. Last timeline I heard was May sometime. They probably acted like that because they originally were WAY to open about why she was gone. She must have yelled at them.

Mindi - Last Dome w/o was good. Hard but good. We had to run a lap outside of it and that was a treat. 4 big hills, ice and instructions to run it hard. I ended up with a time way better than my mile time so that is coolio. Thinking about a mid summer mile race to test out the speed.

I could do that. I've done a few marathons in random cities where I was by myself all weekend, and I've found it always more fun to know someone else there. Especially someone that knows the good bars. And it's certainly not like I have my heart set on Nebraska this year. What school did you go to in Omaha? Creighton is there, right? I don't thnk I know of anything else. Is that it?
I don't like that time of year down there. Definitely has the potential to be way too warm for 26.2. Yes, I went to Creighton. Ages ago. I'm sure I'd look creepy hanging out in the college bars!
