Morning runners.

I have seem to hit an extreme funk. I do not want to run, I am not excited about the Marathon, I'm not excited about my 5K race I have this weekend, I just don't feel like doing anything. Sposed to do 17 today... but I doubt very seriously thats gonna happen. I may try to squeeze out ten or something.

JD waited too long to sign up for the Marathon, and now its full... so now I'm gonna have to fly it solo... not v ery excited about that either.

Sorry to hear that BBS -- hope things turn around for you soon...

Good morning Jill.

Did 10 miles on the canal path -- finally completely rain-free! Was expecting the path to be a mess from all the recent ran, but it was actually fine.

BBS - sounds like you might be putting too much pressure on yourself. Maybe take a day or two off and relax. Remember most of us do it because we enjoy running. When we lose the excitement, we start making all kinds of excuses not to train. Most of us have all been there and sometimes it can be hard to pull yourself out of it.

Jill - Good morning! Whatcha doing today?

Loopy - Great job out there on dry ground today.

Me - Just two of us on a ride today, I let him use my road bike since he doesn't own a bike. Made for a nice pleasent ride. We did just shy of 26 miles at a relaxed pace.

Happy training everyone.

Morning all,

BBS - good luck finding your motivation, its gotta be there somewhere

Jill - have a good one, something speedy planned today?

Loopy- the trails around here drain really well too, it practically takes a monsoon to make them unrunnable.

Dave - nice ride

Six easy for me this morning, still feeling some low-level stuff not so much hamstring but morphed to the side of the leg, weird but maybe it means I turned a corner. PT this morning then schedule calls for a couple of days rest and 26.2 on Sunday.

zrun-Be careful bud...that may be the start of a compensation issue. When something gets hurt, we often tweak our stride and end up aggravating something else to keep the original culprit feeling good.

BBS-Maybe all your motivation is headed toward hunting, and once you bag the trophy buck you can head back to running.

Finishing touches on my project that is due in 20mins, and after class some sort of workout. I'm guessing 400s, speed stuff, and a tempo.

Later peeps.

BBS- Go out hunting and maybe that will bring in some motivation or you could run around while hunting to get in the miles. I hope the motivation is found somewhere.

I think many of us here just need a break to relax and recharge ourselves. I got out for 5 miles in 43:29(8:51). I started to feel good by the end of the run and could have done more if I had the time.

Congrats to the Phillies fans this morning. Halladay pitched an amazing game last night and desrved to get the no hitter. As a Baseball fan it was fun to see. I was in my car listening to it on the radio when he got the final out.

Flyby... Morning started at 6am by getting half the household up, showered, fed and out the door. Son1 and I headed to the gym. 3000m for me, not sure about him. Had to drive son1 to campus. Okay, please explain rush hour traffic to me. If there is an accident on the exit ramp, and the exit ramp is closed but NOTHING is blocking, why oh why do traffic come to a stand still?! We had to go to the book store because they over charged us for his math book. It should be only $90, not the $120 that they charged everyone. School specific book, new edition every year. Please tell me how Algebra changes, requiring a new edition?! Once back home, I had to call the school regarding one of son2's classes. I gotta start school with son4, but dog gone it, I"M TIRED!

Nothing this morning but will likely get out for an easy 5er later. After work yesterday we went to the track and I spent 30 mins jogging around adding some pickups on the back stretch while DW and DD watched. Felt OK. Then a group of us headed over to Olive Garden as one guy wanted to get a head start on "carb-loading". Good times.

Alex - cutting it a bit close with that project... enjoy the speed later

zrun - + 1 on what Alex said.

Dave - sounds like a nice ride

Loopy - 10 in flat, dry location? Are you just base building?

BBS - Step back and look at the balance in your life. You said that your wife is expecting, right? Are you trying to do too much? Are you stressed? Realize that marathon training is not all sunshine and roses. The magnitude of the commitment can weigh you down so it follows that motivation will wax and wane. It's normal. Note that the marathon is not a team sport but try to find some group training runs.

Morning folks,

Some weird issues are going on with KR today for me so hopefully this gets posted correctly.

I've got a bag packed today, will definitely head out for a midday run, just not sure what I'm doing yet. The schedule says "intervals" but I may switch that up if I decide to race this weekend...I've been thinking about jumping into either a) a 20 miler in Spotsylvania, about an hour south of here or b) a 5k in Reston that I could bike to, run the race and then bike home from for a good brick workout. But I've been so busy that I haven't had time to really think about doing either one. So the default is what the original schedule says...intervals today, mid-long easy run tomorrow, long bike ride Saturday.

BBS - we all go through those peaks and valleys. Around Labor Day I was seriously beginning to question if I had a marathon in me this fall. At some point the training becomes a grind and motivation gets really tough. But think about how much stronger you are now then when you started. And then think about how much stronger you will be soon...and get out there! Also, RA's idea about group runs is a good one...whether it's from peer pressure or moral support, it definitely helps with the motivation.

Jilll - good luck with the mile repeats. If I end up doing intervals today, I'm probably looking at Yasso 800s.

loopy - yeah, weird how trails are like that sometimes, all dry when logic says it should be a mud pit

Dave - nice ride as usual

zrun - rest up and do what you need to do to keep those muscles in line

Alex - speed work AND tempo in the same workout?

kevin - yep, it was a great night to be a Phillies phan.

4bm - welcome to the racket that is the college textbook industry

Dan - ommmmm...

RA - early carbing...sounds like fun. Or at least a fun excuse.

Thanks all. I think RA pretty much nailed it.. I have been stringing myself out thin lately. Running, Hunting, working on my Man Cave, Dealing w/ the wife (which really hasn't been a big deal..yet), and not to mention my 7 day a week job in which I average at least 2 12 hour shifts per week... I'd love to do some group runs, but most start early and I do not have time to make it from work. I think when October is over... things will start to get better... I know the overtime at work will be basically gone and that will help a ton.

Anyways.. I got in 12 today in 1:43 (8:39). Decent run I guess, last mile was tuff, left heel had done rubbed itself raw and was bleeding. Maybe this slack week will help some for my future training.

Nice jobs out there everyone.

It is a wonderful Doctober day her in Philly !! I have txts for Fridays game and I am such a good mom I gave them to my son. It's not often that I get to be the hero but it was worth it to see his face. Yea,.... I know ....I am a good mom

Today the sun came out and fall is here. My run will happen later today after work. DH in doing internship during day and school at night, so I have all night to myself & the pup. I am planning on running in quakertown 5m and maybe exploring a new route since it's getting dark earlier and the street lights will be on. Finding places to run in the dark gets to be a challenge since most often I am alone (except for the pup) and try to stick with places that are safe.

Good runs to all and enjoy the cooler temps.

{{BBS}} Just think, crossing the finish line will taste that much sweeter because of what it took to get there !!

Yasso 800s done, mainly as a fitness test. Here's what I came up with.

3:17, 3:17, 3:18, 3:19, 3:20, 3:17, 3:16, 3:31. That last one isn't even worth discussing; it was into a ridiculous headwind that seemed to blow harder the harder I pushed against it. Throwing out that one as an outlier, I averaged about 3:18...not where I want to be (3:10), but that's where I am. Story of my fall season so far.

I have about 10 more days of peak training to try and improve on that. Then I'll try another Yasso workout in taper week 1.

Hopefully I'm just primed for a late bloomer/strong finish to the season. That's my story for now and I'm sticking to it.

Hawk, nice job. It was windy out there today.

4bm, I'm tired just reading about your morning!

Before I forget - excellent job yesterday jebba!

I see there are some great runs today. Well done loopy, zrun, Kevin, BBS. I hope that the rest of you have enjoyable runs this afternoon and evening.

I've been feeling very "on" these days but had no idea what to expect today with my mile repeats. My best repeats were last March (6:59-6:48-6:46) and I was hoping to do something simliar today. I was very psyched with today's results which are definitely my best yet. 6:50-6:40-6:34 in the middle of a 10 mile run. A few more weeks to dial in the speed and look out Philly! Oh, and I think that 6:34 is the fastest mile I've ever run.

Jill-so amazing to see how much you have been absolutely on fire as of late! I can't wait to see how Philly goes!

CMJ-Glad that you are staying positive on things. Sometimes we just have those seasons. Last summer through late fall I was in a funk where I was putting in a lot more work and not seeing ANY results...last XC season I was like 50sec away from my PR. It gets frustrating, but if you stay consistent and find enjoyment with running in general, I think you can surprise yourself.

Workout not too tough at all...and CMJ, just speed today since there's a time trial tomorrow. Me and my training partner will "accidentally" be at the track the same time the team does this 4k time trial and tag along. Should be a fun time. As for today, w/u, 5x150m speed development which are basically just drawn out accels working on turnover, then 4x400 in 78-80 w/ 200m jog. Felt awkward and choppy, most likely from our recent switch in lifting, but hit pace. Then I added on 45mins for 80mins total. Now in the library yet again.

Night folks.
