SRD for me. 2 days to go. Typing that has just increased my heart rate significantly.

I'm actually a bit more hopefully about the weather. The dew point is low so the current temps (mid to high 50s) should be OK for the first 2 hrs of the race. After that the lack of cloud cover, more than the air temp, will be a factor since there is a lack of shade on the back end of the course.

Asics--is it supposed to be full sun? A guess all you can do is hydrate early and hope for the best.

Run day. I rarely run two days in a row and my legs certainly were not pleased. Ug... nothing felt good. And I'm a week and a half out from my marathon?! Figured I'd finish out the slog regardless. Shocked by the numbers--5.66m, 49:42, 8:47pace. Uh, that's just slower than MP. And I neg split it. Go figure!

Had a banner day yesterday. Went to visit a friend who just had a baby. I hit a sewer cover and destroyed a tire. Between my hubby and her hubby, they got the spare put on--after taking the spare to the gas station for air. On his drive home hubby called and asked me to pick him up. His radiator blew. The shop should be able to get both done today. Total cost is around $700. Ouch.

RA -- Tick, tock, tick, tock. This part of the process is maddening, I know. Be here before you know it.

Me -- Some decent work this week. 2 pool sessions, with form and times beginning to improve. Tried to take the MTB to work in the rain yesterday after Madeline had another flat. Ate it hard on the greenbelt, with the obligatory road rash to prove it. Ran home from work on Tuesday, and a gentle tailwind pushed me to some mid-6 splits. Felt great.

Gotta get out for some miles before the late-morning wind advisory hits.

Good ones to all.

Morning all,

Up in the air on what to do today. Schedule says XT (bike) but I feel like a run, and I packed for trails. Also I didn't get in my planned double earlier this week despite two attempts to schedule it, so now I'm behind on the mileage target for the week. A run today would put me back on track.

RA - those sound like fine marathon conditions to me, esp. if you get a little breeze to keep things cool.

4bm - nice run, you sound ready

Chances - ouch on the road rash. Better get out there and run -- like the wind.

It is around 40* with steady rain. If I went about 5 minutes or less east from my place I would see snow. I can see it on the side of the mountain from here. Is it really that time of the year already. Last week we had 80* weather.

I scheduled a rest day for today knowing the weather was going to be rainy. I am going to do some pushups and dips this morning.

Nice job on all the workouts and planned workouts.

Morning all

Kinda been busy w/ hunting so no time to post. Tuesday I did a little TM 5K time trial. Wanted to go Sub 20, but I could tell thatI havn't ran 5k pace since mid August after about 2 miles in, so had to dial it back a tad and finished with 20:13. That is a PR, if you want to count the TM aspect. Did have it on 1% incline.

Last night I did a nice 5 miles w/ the group, avg 8:14 pace w/ the last mile @ 7:47.

I'm leaning towards rest day today

RA- w/ 2 hrs of good weather, I'm sure you can survive a measly 30 mins of bad

Wow, I'm sleeping later and later. Just got my workout in. Same workout. Almost decided to run the whole thing and thought better of it. Nevertheless, I feel like I'm ready. Kevin, repeat after me, "no snow, no snow, no snow".

Dan- The worst part about it is that it builds up on the satellite dish. Then you can't get reception, or you have to get up to the roof to clean it off. Sounds like you are finally doing much better these days. Welcome back to a steady dose of running.
