Rise and shine slackers!

As planned, ran to the gym, did my express upper body weights (ouch), then ran home. A hair under 3 miles each way. Legs felt OK. A cool 45F with my headlamp . Almost ran into someone wearing all black and no headlamp. I have no idea how he could see where he was going.

Well, I didn't run into any running ninjas like Asics there, but a decent run. 4 miles, 134 bpm 10:32 pace. Pretty much identical to yesterday, but I felt less sore today than yesterday. I'll probably take the day off Friday and expect to be back over 90% healthy with the extra day of rest.

Enjoy the day runners.

RA- did you keep the headlamp on while working out? Maybe the person you saw was a Ginger kid (south park joke)

I'm holding over at work today... I volunteered... I thought I had a strategy goi g but it kinda blew up on me. Cooler temps here today so I'm gonna try to get in a 5er after work.

Asics--I almost hit a runner with my van. Nighttime in pouring rain and the idiot was wearing all black sweats.

MBH--nice little trot there.

BBS--enjoy the cooler temps.

Running in circles for me. Marathon pacing run. Shooting for 2:09, but couldn't hit it for anything. Mostly 2:07-2:08. Ironically, my slowest lap was when I was focused on not chasing a bunny. That was a 2:10. Whole thing felt really comfortable. Got locked into the pace, then started going through the prayer requests from last night's bible study. I'm feeling way too comfortable going into this marathon.

Caught some sort of illness recently, probably because my lack of sleep earlier this week. Going to just run easy today and skip the workout, probably won't do that race this weekend either. I have not been feeling great running as of late and don't feel the need to damper my spirits with a bad race. Hopefully I'll be back to full health soon and then resume normal training next week.

Good morning everyone. I got out for 5 miles in 44:48(8:57). It was a nice cool 42 this morning. I am not quite ready for it to get cold.

4boys- maybe being this comfortable will yield great results.

Nice job on all the running and resting this morning.

Hey all,

Not much to say here, it's a rest day. Too much going on today, both at work and after work, to get one in plus it's really nasty outside anyway (cold, hard rain, wind). Back at it tomorrow, then my final 20+ long run before NYC is on Saturday. More on that tomorrow.

Nice job so far everyone.

Boston registration opens on Monday... why do they send me such tempting e-mails? Trouble is that DW is qualified for 2012 not 2011. Of course, 2012 means I have to re-BQ somewhere. Maybe next month, maybe next April?

Hawk - Sounds like great running weather... I had considered OBX as we had such a good time there in 2008. However; being cheap and wary of that mulch section through the woods plus the bridge, I'll probably do one in driving distance. Maybe Monument in Indianapolis on 11/06 or Veterans by Fort Wayne, IN 11/13. However; getting up this morning at 5am almost made me change my mind... Never, ever again.

BBS - no headlamp in the gym as they kindly turn the lights on. But I was tempt to leave it on my head and look like a dork.

kfuller - come on, you love the cold weather. Trouble is, 40s is that middle ground.

Alex - Rest. Don't get mono.

4boysmom - you are going to kick that marathons shiny arse.

Mailbox - looks like you have a smart recovery plan.

I thought the same thing after getting the Boston email. And that's after I've already declared (unofficially of course) that I was skipping Boston next spring so I could focus on 10-13.1 racing. But really, Boston absolutely is the coolest place in the world on the third weekend of April. Now I hear that voice again ("you know you want to...").

BTW I plan to do Chicago next year...

Ah yes, what a memory, the pine forest trail at OBX. Nice little HR spike right at the halfway point. I didn't think the bridge was too bad though, looked worse than it really was.

Workout #2 for the week is done: 11+ miles with 5 at tempo pace. In the rain. Now I am freezing. Gotta run kids!

Yes but I only raced 13.1, then jogged the rest... It's my new thing... jogging marathons... it's all the rage. I also had that thought of running a marathon in every state... then I realized that I never, ever want to do one again. Ever.

Sorry about that. I could still change my mind but right now I'm feeling like I need a break from marathons. This fall my body has constantly felt beaten up.

RA - I have this silly goal of doing all 5 World Marathon Majors. After Chicago I will have to get the 2 overseas targets.

Got an very easy, very chilly 6.5 in this morning before meetings and being able to squeeze in an MRI to rule out disc problems as a cause for my R leg issue which was a bit sore today . RA, you're inspiring me to get back to strength training which I need to since I abandoned in September. Next year's Chicago,,, perish the thought (although I confess I'm thinking of a half to get into Corral B)

Nice runs and rest, everyone & have good evening.

Hawk, I'm teasing. I support you, whatever you do. I think it will be good for you to move over to the shorter races for a bit.

zrun, I'm anxious (as I know you are, too) to find out those MRI results.

RA, I have to admit, the thought of taking it easy in a marathon and pacing someone else sounds really nice sometimes.
