Jill - speed demon. Keep it uber easy!

kfuller - enjoy the 5'er

I got out for just over 10 miles this morning. A cold 31F (hot for Jill) dumbed my hands.

RA, nice miles! And by the way, I don't wear gloves on my runs all winter long. People think I'm nuts.

Jill--no gloves ever?!?!!? You need to run stupid slow? I'll run with you.

fuller--enjoy the 5.

Asics--nice 10 there.

Fishbowl for me. Planned for 2500 but shoulder is still really bothering me. Ended up with only 2000, then walked 250. Hope that doesn't make the earth wobble too much. Hopefully loopy is out there getting in his 10 otherwise who knows what will happen!

Good morning all!

Slow it down Jill! :) And, I'll repeat, no gloves ever?!?!? I can wear shorts in sub-20 temps, but have to pull on the gloves as soon as it gets under 50...

Enjoy the 5 Kevin.

Nice cold 10 Asics.

Nice job in the fishbowl 4BM! I am afraid I only have ~2.5 on tap and that won't be until this afternoon -- so the earth may be in trouble :)

Jill- If you don't wear gloves when its cold, where do you wipe all the snot that pours outta your nose??

Kevin- You have a few different routes for all these 5s?

RA- Yea, 31... sounds like singlet weather to Jill

Mom- Nice job hanging, or floating in there

Loopy- It seems like that race would obliterate your quads... Have fun with that!

Dan- Race is Dec. 4

Rest day for me. Ran 3 days in a row, first time since September I think. 9 went ok yesterday, but like Jill, Couldn't really hold on to a slower pace. Gonna try to hit the sack early today so I can squeeze in a little afternoon hunt. I gotta a really nice buck on camera that seems to have my hunting schedule..

Jill - I'm holding you to that easy pace for tomorrow! You must have great circulation, my hands would have fallen off without gloves last winter.

Kfuller - have a great 5

RA - nice 10, I have a feeling I am going to be doing a lot of complaining about the weather when I start running next week

4boys - good swim, hope the shoulder is feeling better

Good luck with the race, Loopy, bring home that Turkey!

Fitness assessment this morning and flexibility went up 2 levels from 'poor' to 'moderate', glad to see the yoga did something. VO2 max was down a little which I would expect with the running layoff. Body fat was slightly down, which surprised me since I put a few pound on during the layoff but the calipers aren't that precise anyway. Strength tested way up which makes no sense and I think the new person testing me must have done something different, but I'll take it.

Happy trails all.

Morning...

Jill - Slooooooooooow down! Tough to hold a champ back. I'm with loopy. The first thing to go as the temps drop (as they are now) is my hands. Next my ears.

Kevin - Hope the run went well

RA - Yep, that's getting down there for most of us humans!

4boys - Thought I felt something this morning. Thought it was a quake. Good to hear it was just the earth woobling on it's axis

Loopy - Good luck with that race!

Ok, doc report. Took blood (checking thyroid again, vitamin D and ferritin). Gave me homeopathic remedies (I don't take enough meds?) and asked if I was depressed. I said, wouldn't you be? Probably won't get blood results till Monday. Feel a little bit better today and hope I can at least walk or something this weekend. Mixed snow showers in the forecast for the next upmteen days. Yippee! Not!

I promise! I will run SLOW tomorrow.

BBS - lol, I carry tissues with me or end up using my shirt. My hands might start off cold but usually a couple miles into my run they are so warm, even warmer than my face. I generally only wear gloves if I'm out running in temps below 25* and that is very seldom. Even then, I have been known to take my gloves off and carry them (which is such a pain! My hands get all sweaty from the gloves.)

BBS- I have a few 5 mile routes. If I ran the same one day after day I would have to quit running due to boredom.

Morning all,

We're having temperatures that would qualify as tropical on Planet Jill, 49F.

Sunny and not too windy, though, which should make for a nice midday run, work schedule permitting. And yes, I did pack a pair gloves. Not sure if I'll need them but I've got them just in case. FWIW I generally wear them anytime it goes under 50 though sometimes I end up sticking them in my pockets or the waistband of my shorts. At NYC, which was a fairly chilly day (38 & windy at the start), I had gloves on for the first 5 miles, took them off, then at around 9 I thought about taking off the headband too, until a big crosswind quickly changed my mind. Singlet and arm warmers kept the rest of my upper body comfortable.

As for today, 6 on tap, nice and easy. Still very much working my way back. Week 2 of recovery almost is done, then it's one more week of recovery before a base building & cross training month, and who knows what the new year will bring...I'm just starting to think about 2011 goals and there may be a surprise in store. Stay tuned for that.

Jill - I know you hate the TM but you might want to just get on that and mindlessly run at 6.0 mph tomorrow. Seriously.

4bm - nice swim, sore shoulder and all

loopy - good luck, hopefully you'll be king of the mountain this afternoon!

BBS - good luck with the 5

zrun - sounds like you're getting a little closer to living up to your avatar's flexibility.

Dan - day by day. Hope you can get out for something now that you're back on an uptick

kevin - nice 5

RA - seems you're back in the saddle already, probably going to pop a good 5k next Thursday.
