In the bleak midwinter,
frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Well, not so long ago. Try today. Snow on snow on snow. We don't get the big storms, we get 5 days straight of a couple of inches. Christmas snow. And they don't plow here, they wait for the Chinook. It makes for slogging.

A bit more than 6 miles today in a pokey one hour. Slower than recovery pace with hills. The bleak midwinter indeed.

Hope the lucky socks work for you Meri!

Nose was ok
Grizz- the socks are SealSkinz. They are waterproof, 100%. So i did the elliptical with them, with a sock under. Then i put my feet in the tub! I thought my feet were wet (i think more steamy from the warm water) and i was all pissed off (these were very expensive) so i took them off and my sock was dry! lol. So then i was confused. I stuffed a sock with paper towels and then put it in the tub and under the faucet and it was dry! so i guess they work

nothing...I'm feeling pissy and lazy.
I don't want to lift, and you can't make me.

It's just as well tho, since I'd have to lift-eat-shower-beautify-turn around and head back to school for more p-t conferences.

By not working out, I can overeat during lunch and sit on kickrunners.com lurking and posting without having to rush around.

so....not pumping iron today is a good thing, yes?

8 miles on the treadmill, made myself stick to my easy pace. For whatever reason I enjoyed this run more than any in recent memory. I just felt happy and relaxed and loose.

Last night I went to put in an hour on the TM to make up for the fact that the AM got cut short to 45 minutes. Somehow I just didn't have it in me, and my legs were tight - I bagged after 30min and did some pre-hab (tendon health) leg lifting stuff. Meh!

This morning I got in the full hour, though I backed the intensity off a little bit.

I have (and use) Sealskinz too. I'm convinced that they actually do soak through when I go through open water a lot, but they're better than any alternative I know. They feel a little like wearing wetsuit booties.

4 miles

and I'm thinking about backing out of Sat's race.

I just don't have it in me to run in sleet and wind

Ah, I see a mix of nice runs, recovery days, and a fella fighting an illness. Get well, soon.

Today is the third straight day of above-freezing temps. Finally. 45F and breezy at 6:30pm. Lucky to find a break in the rain and ran outside.

10 miles total
5mi warm-up (46 min)
3mi @ tempo pace (6:45/mi, or 20:20)
2mi cool-down (18 min)

Ran on the outdoor road course with one training partner. Feel real good now.

The hammy was barking today. Going back to diligent PT stretches/exercises for a few days to loosen it up.

{{{with healing vibes>>Equinox Marathon<<with healing vibes}}} get well soon!

7 miles in the chilly clear evening air. The group ran by the marina around. After the time change on March 11, we will start the loop to Seal Beach again.
Hamstrings feel tight, I need to stretch them while I watch American Idol.
