Good morning everyone!

BBS - Hope the six goes pretty fast for you today.

Me - 19 mile biek this morning at a conversational pace with a few sprints thrown in there. I did have some race wheels put on the bike. I am kind of excited about it to see how much of a difference it makes. I am using Fulcrum Racing Speed XLRs.

BBS--you've been putting in some great workouts and are gonna knock 'em dead Sunday!

David--I put new wheels on Sapphire last season. Not sure if they help or not, but she looks much better! I have noticed a difference with the aerobars.

Had planned on an easy trot this morning. When I woke and did my before getting out of bed stretch, the legs had me question that. Mmm... maybe not. Slept for another couple hours. Busy day ahead as I finish the back garden, taxi kids around, and care for the zoo.

I am borrowing the wheels. The LBS that I bought my bike will loan race wheels out for free for anyone that has repeat business with them. If not it is a couple hundred to rent them. I am told that anything over 20 mph is when you start to see the difference with aero wheels like this. I don't know, will see how it goes this weekend.

Dave- nice job on the ride. Hope u dig the new tread

Mom- I think your gardening is tougher than marathon training

Run done. Splits were 8:25, 7:17, 7:18, 7:25, 7:28, 8:18. I was pretty wasted at the end. I'm hoping I can avg a 7:30 at the race, but it may be more like 7:40.

4boysmom - do you have a meter in your van?

Dave - nice looking wheels there... my BIL has something similar on his tri-bike

BBS - nice job on the tempo

Went to the track last night so was too tired to get out for a planned recovery run early this morning. Too bad as it was clear and in the 50s. Hope to get that 5'er in later today.

I felt like crap at track and the numbers show it for the 400-800-1200-1200-800-400 ladder:

400: 1:31
800: 2:58
1200: 4:32
1200 4:34
800: 3:01
400:1:29

My legs were tired (teach me to run in the morning too) and I was really struggling. My times are at least 5 seconds slower than they should be. Anyway, had a good time yapping with friends. Finished with 14 combined miles on the day.

I've been thinking about a 5k (circuit race) on Sunday but will likely pass as I have a HM (another circuit race) on the 12th. Probably a 10k on Father's Day, the following Sunday. My poor legs.

Morning all,

Easy XT day planned today, probably some stationary bike or elliptical at the gym, massage at 5pm then after that I hopefully will be able to swing by the "expo" for this weekend. Since it's the North Face series, packet pickup is at the NF store in Georgetown. I guess they figure they can get us to browse some of their pricey stuff while we're there. Actually I wouldn't mind getting a new water bottle with a hand holder for this weekend...

As for last night, it was a brief workout at the track. Mile warmup, 5x500 (300 rest), mile cooldown. Faster than expected splits (was shooting for 5k pace), at 1:47, 1:52, 1:51, 1:52, 1:49. First one was a little too quick, I actually had to slow down in the last 100 after hitting the 400 in :85 to stay within target range. I had a little fun with the last one, trying to start somewhat easy then accelerate and glide every 100m, hitting top speed in the final 100. Nice way to finish. 4.5 miles total. Gotta love taper weeks.

BBS - what are you doing this weekend? A HM? Just guessing from the pace goal...

4bm - tough thing about getting up and going in the morning. Sometimes the get up and go's just not there. But I'm going to have to start finding it very soon.

Dave - nice ride; I actually have a set of race wheels for my Litespeed, but I don't feel like I'm anywhere near fast enough to actually use them.

RA - not bad splits for being "off" your game.

Back from the gym at lunch. Just a short 30 minute aerobic "ride" on the stationary bike...formal spin sessions are Monday-Wednesday-Friday at lunch so I had to make my own spin, which became more complicated when I found my iPod was out of juice. Luckily I've got SiriusXM on my phone...whew, time for some AltNation. First 20 minutes I kept it in the 90s then pushed it into the 100s for the final 10. These are new bikes and they gave a much more realistic mileage total than the old ones did, in this case a little over 8 miles, i.e., about what I would have done on the roads. The old machines would have said I had gone something like 12 miles.

Gym at lunch for me as well. Was going to do strength/core, but hopped on the treadmill to warm up and somehow wound up doing 5.5 miles instead with a couple of hard tempo miles in there. Got to fly, nice job all. Son2's baseball game tonight, then tomorrow morning doctor appointment, work meetings and off to Indy for nephew's graduation party this weekend.

Hi everyone. I haven't posted b/c all my runs this week have been uninspired. Monday 6, Tuesday 1, Wednesday 3, Thursday 1. Tomorrow I am doing at least 12 no matter what. I need to gut through this weather. it's been in the mid to high 90s all week, and I'm treadmilled out.
