Greetings, all. I've no fun here to report, but no real un-fun stuff, either.

Maria - forgot to mention yesterday: I LOVE the Mom-arch photo for her finish of the 5k. Very cool!

Good Morning!

I keep waiting for things to slow down, but it's just not happening.

Wanted to pop in and give a shoutout to Maria's pop (((((Poppa Pfeiffer))))) and our other 30s with family health issues. Strength to you all ((((((((({{{{ }}}}))))))))))

Some of you may remember my co-worker who was diagnosed with BC when she was pregnant. Her C came back 2 years ago, in her lungs, and she had more rounds of chemo. She just found out that she needs to go back on treatment this summer. This treatment will buy her more good time, but the stretch between treatments will get smaller and smaller until she is on it all the time.

WAIT

Fun: The report that took me 3 weeks of on and off work to do and figure out the directions is now taking me about 3 hours to do the data and another 2 hours to do the pivot tables.

I'm going to set a timer now to see how long it will take me to do the final month of data.

I'm super excited now that I have it under control

Hi all - first off, more vibes to ((((Papa Pfeiffer & The Family))))

Got into an interesting discussion with Kris over some regionalisms last night, so I thought I'd throw a few at you for a QOD of sorts:

What would you call:

A) The drink you usually order with a burger & fries - pop? soda? cola? coke? soda pop? or something else?

2) The end pieces of a loaf of bread - butt? end slice? nose? heel? or something else?

d) The cushy thing you sit down on to watch TV - sofa? couch? divan? davenport? chesterfield? or something else?

V) Two pieces of bread with some deli meat in the middle - sub? hoagie? grinder? hero? or something else?

For me, it would be (mostly) soda, end slice, couch and sub

Thanks for all the good vibes, I really appreciate it and I have to agree with Prae's comment last night (plus it really made me smile!) ... cancer really doesn't know who it fucked with, we are ornery, stubborn people from the old country (well, pops is) and we'll get this thing wishing it had never come between us and a full family game of kickball!!! I spoke w/my dad last night and day 1 went well, he's back today and tomorrow to complete the first series and will start up the next on Aug. 3rd.

Sounds like something that would be served at the 30s B&B Brothel

Oh, BTW, I saw a Baggs doppleganger sprint past me as I was walking to the Ferry Bldg yesterday afternoon. There seem to be runners everywhere this week, with the SF Marathon only 3 or so weeks away

drink (mainly because I tired of this debate years ago, we're in a region that overlaps!)

couch is what you sit on, sofa is the fancy one in the front room that granny wouldn't let us sit on

bread = sandwich. subs are on a bun. All the other things are variations of subs that people eat in other parts of the country:)

1) soda, but I grew up calling it tonic. I always order a Coke though.

2) butt, but DexH called it the "culi" (italian slang for a$$).

3) couch or sofa. More often couch.

4) Sandwich if it's flat, Sub if it's on a roll. There are places around here that sell "spuckies"

Addendum:

5) what do you call milk and ice cream blended together?

We call it a frappe (pronounced "frap"). Technically, in New England, a milk shake is milk and syrup blended together, but you'd never get that if you ordered a milk shake now...you'd get a frappe. In RI, historically, they were called cabinets, but I've never heard anyone call them that. They also drink coffee milk...coffee syrup and milk. Right boB?

5) shake

I read that one side of the state of RI calls those fraps and the other side calls them cabinets or cabs - interesting to see if that's actually true

Oh yeah, here's another one - were we the only family who used the term hassock instead of ottoman, footrest, or footstool? (It was an ugly orange vinyl thingy too - perfect for propping dirty feet on for certain)

Hi gang! Taking a break from packing to stop in and say hi, and ((((((PfeifferPop and PfeifferPfam)))))) good vibes to you all, you're such a strong family!

QOD:

A) pop

2) heel

d) couch or sofa equally

V) on sliced bread, a sammich. On a roll, a sub.

Addendum:

5) milkshake. Now, if it was ice cream and root beer (or some other pop) together, it would be a float. Mmmmmmmmm......float.
