Morning all,

OK performance last night at the track. I had hoped to make the Masters mile race but the DC's area's notorious traffic did not cooperate and I got there as it was on lap 2. So the open mile it was for me. With not much time to warm up, I turned in a 5:44, not a terrible result, but not exactly what I was hoping for either. My legs were tight and I just couldn't seem to get the turnover out of them that I was looking for. After a short rest I then did the 3000m, deciding to just see if I could run an even hard-tempo pace throughout. Mission accomplished on that, as I went 11:29 for a 6:10 average mile pace, which means 92.5 per quarter. I wasn't taking splits on my watch but I was looking at it to check them as I came around and I was pretty consistently on 91-93 seconds; I think maybe on the next to last lap I slipped to 94-95 but then I pulled it back to 92 on the final lap. For a hot night and it being my second workout of the day (and second two-a-day in a row), I'll take it.

Today - hittin' the trails. I'll stop at the lake on my way home and hopefully put in two loops for 9+ total. It will be steamy but I'm counting on the forest cover to help me out a little.

RA - yeah, doldrums, hard training, what Chances said. At least you both only have to wait until October.

kevin - enjoy the rest day

zrun - impressive morning mileage. Well done.

4bm - good job finding a little extra mojo out there

FB - I hear you on the humidity. You're in the one place where it's probably worse than what we get.

Dan - have fun doing whatever you end up doing

Chances - 15 on the TM for, that would be, let's see, one shirt change at least.
