Rise and shine campers!

So, 11 slow, groggy, sloggy miles this morning. I am just not feeling well. At least the sun was shining. 70F & >80% humidity.

Have a good Friday eve.

Asics--groggy sloggy? Hey--it's all miles in the bank.

fuller--rest up!

zrun--you snuck in on me! What group do you run with?

Planned for 8.5 this morning. However, the legs just weren't feeling fresh and since I'm racing this weekend, opted to not do the extra loop. Once I got to my TA for 6, realized I wasn't ready to head back just yet, so added an extra half. 7 total for the day. Bit slower than hoped, but good, strong run none the less.

RA -- I hear you, man. The doldrums of the training cycle -- body's hurting from being in the thick of training, race still too far away to get too excited or motivated. Push on through. We'll get there.

kfuller -- Rest up today.

zrun -- Way to take advantage of the better (if not "good") weather.

4boys -- Good job. Yes, what race?

FlBoiler -- Ever think of moving to a more civilized area? ;-)

Dan -- Enjoy whatever you decide to do, even if it's rest.

Me -- 15 on the Y treadmill yesterday. Man, that's a slog. 7 recovery today in the upper-60s sunshine. Achilles are acting up, so I'm babying them with lots of ice and heat. Helps a great deal.

I'm doing an Oly tri on Sunday. This is the only race in the series that son1 and I haven't done. I'm looking forward to it. It's just a B race, leading up to my A race which is a half iron later in August.

Morning all,

OK performance last night at the track. I had hoped to make the Masters mile race but the DC's area's notorious traffic did not cooperate and I got there as it was on lap 2. So the open mile it was for me. With not much time to warm up, I turned in a 5:44, not a terrible result, but not exactly what I was hoping for either. My legs were tight and I just couldn't seem to get the turnover out of them that I was looking for. After a short rest I then did the 3000m, deciding to just see if I could run an even hard-tempo pace throughout. Mission accomplished on that, as I went 11:29 for a 6:10 average mile pace, which means 92.5 per quarter. I wasn't taking splits on my watch but I was looking at it to check them as I came around and I was pretty consistently on 91-93 seconds; I think maybe on the next to last lap I slipped to 94-95 but then I pulled it back to 92 on the final lap. For a hot night and it being my second workout of the day (and second two-a-day in a row), I'll take it.

Today - hittin' the trails. I'll stop at the lake on my way home and hopefully put in two loops for 9+ total. It will be steamy but I'm counting on the forest cover to help me out a little.

RA - yeah, doldrums, hard training, what Chances said. At least you both only have to wait until October.

kevin - enjoy the rest day

zrun - impressive morning mileage. Well done.

4bm - good job finding a little extra mojo out there

FB - I hear you on the humidity. You're in the one place where it's probably worse than what we get.

Dan - have fun doing whatever you end up doing

Chances - 15 on the TM for, that would be, let's see, one shirt change at least.

Rob - Be careful with dem heels!

4boys - Good luck with that race.

Hawk - What's your PR for a mile? Have a good sweaty run this afternoon.

I probably shouldn't have but went out for another W8R2. It was hard and I'll probably pay tomorrow. Probably stay at this workout a few more times.

Post-40 PR for a mile is 5:29.4, done at the same race I did last night, but two years ago. Nice job on 8+2.

Hawk - nice job, especially considering weather & lack of warmup. Too bad about the masters mile. I wish I could run those times, my best mile was a 5:47 in a race with my brother on a track long, long ago (with him 10 sec ahead ). It would be fun to try to shoot to break 6 this fall, but I am trying to be careful with my hamstrings.

Chances - nice job on the 'mill & this am, good luck w/ the achilles

4boysmom - nice job sticking it out. Last couple of months I’ve been running with an informal group that meets early morning out in the western suburbs. Really nice bunch of people.

Almost made it through July. Have a good one, all.

Did my first 3 mile run since Sunday's marathon. Legs feel very good. So, now I'm going to start working on my 5k times.

Lake trail run done a little earlier this evening. I got there later than I wanted so I had to cut the run a little short in order to avoid getting locked in (closes at dark). That was fine with me given the 88% humidity. 6.3 mile progression run instead. I'll take it.
