Good morning folks. Rode the bike to and from the Y this morning with a 4+ mile run with my Tues/Thursday crew sandwiched in between. The run was good and legs felt pretty good. However the bike was only a little over 5 but it's a start fro Timberman sprint. Was able to compare the milage from my bike computer and GPS watch. Watch showed .02 longer

Muffin Queen: I'll get back to you later on trail options. Too busy. Sorry.

6 to 7 mile trail run early this morning in 1:08 with a collection of others. Was supposed to be more like 5 miles but we got lost. Which happens. All good. Tired from consecutive days of higher mileage.

Got another double on the trails this evening with my TransRockies 'mate. Probably will add another 9 miles give or take, depending on how we feel.

45 minute swim this AM .... lost track of distance - but probably 2200-2300 yards.

May add a short 4-5 milish easy run later, depending on how I feel after wood stacking ...

Thor - really looking forward to following you on this trans-rockies run. Need to figure out the tracking options. Good luck!

Slept in until 4 am and finally dragged my ass out of bed for a treadmill run. 30 min and 3.5 miles. Wasn't looking forward to it but by the end of the run I was wanting to keep going. Unfortunately I had to get to work.

In a period of unstructured training right now. Trying to decide how long to stick with that. Next A-race is NYC Marathon in early November, and that gives me a pretty short break before I start my intense Boston training in Jan 2012. So I might put a longer break in now to along my body and mind to recover. But I'm also toying with the idea of doing a 50 mile trail run in early October and if I did that I need to start upping my mileage. Choices, choices ...

5.2 mile run with training partner from CDA in 2009 who is also racing IMAZ in November. Was an awesome run for us. Felt good and had good conversations too! This again reminded me I do this for the journey and relationships as much as anything else. Feeling really blessed to have such wonderful and supportive friends.

Mike, you're crazy. There, I said it. On behalf of all of us.

Absolutely perfect weather here in the Pacific Northwest, finally! Glad I rolled out of bed for my 5-mile run this morning. 56F and clear skies. After work I have a 23 mile bike ride planned, should be 80F or thereabouts - perfect again.

Now if I could just buckle down and focus on my work in between...not so easy on days like this.

Early morning 15-mile ride around the neighborhood. Bike is rattling...that can't be good. Glad I was already planning on taking it in this afternoon for a long overdue tune-up! Hoping to do yesterday's weight workout today if time permits.

Mike, isn't a year so short when you break it down like spring/ fall running seasons and summer tri season? Enjoy the unstructured training period!!

A kind of triple-workout day. Started with a super-sweaty yoga class early in the morning, 5-mile super-sweaty track workout with 6*200m, 3*400m and 2*200m in 90%+ humidity. Then headed to nearby lake after dropping DD at her music lesson. After 1 lap, I was asked if I lived in the sub, which I don't..... A friend who does wasn't with me so...... Ended up with only 0.4 mile swim.

Heatstroke tried to kill me...trying to be tough and smart all at the same time. 5 HOT miles at 5:30pm. Walked up the last hill since I was starting to get a WAY overheated. Pace was good though (10:40 ish). Soaked myself with the garden hose after...felt nauseous...must hydrate better for Saturday's long run.

5 miles in 49ish.. not bad considering 2 weeks ago, I think I got it at 58 and had to walk a lot.. Is confirming that it was my meds that was causing my problem.

9.5 mile trail run with TransRockies 'mate after work. Pretty hot out there. We did a rolling out and back on a trail that goes alongside a local river. The entire area is wooded with pines and oaks and is pretty sheltered. It tends to have its own ecosystem climate, if you will. When we got done and stepped from the trail area, now going into more open space, the temperature dropped 10 degrees. No kidding. The ecosystem was holding the heat and humidity in. Pretty wild.

This was the second workout on the day for roughly 15+ miles. Yesterday we had 15+. And the day before was 11+. Feeling beat up now. Rest day on Friday.
