Nice one indeed IIene

I did intervals this morning at 5.30 AM, I forgot how hard it was to get going on a cold icy morning, in the end the session went well.

Having also got close but unlikely to reach 50 miles this week I need to start cutting back as I have a 50km on Sunday.

Today was more Florida sunshine.

Like Lebron, I have taken my talents to South Beach. Well, not quite South Beach. Actually since I have no talents worthy of 15 million bucks, I barely made it to Miami Beach when I had to turn around after 36:30. The trip back took 33:57 for a total time of 70:27. That's my longest outside run in months. Probably a little over 9.75 miles. The highlights were running on the John F. Kennedy Causeway and seeing the fantastic sights of Miami, and Miami Beach.

Hey, Ilene! Me too! Good luck.

10 miles this morning in very sloppy conditions. I couldn't face another 10 on the TM. Drivers reluctantly gave me some room, some less than others. GA effort, made a little difficult with all the slipping in slush and snow. More snow forecast tomorrow morning. This is getting old fast.

I'd give anything to be running in Miami, rip. Nice run, btw.

You, too, Gobi! That's one incredibly short taper!

Hi Rip! Hi Mike! Hi TW!

6 semi-slippery miles at lunch, into another neighbourhood I've not been thru in many years. Most of the old bungalows have been replaced with 4000+ sq ft mansions. I felt soooo out of place!

Another good luck wish, Ilene. I can vaguely remember when I used to run that kind of mileage; maybe someday again. Rip, that is cool you got to run on the JFK causeway for the 50th anniversary of his inauguration. Had some other stuff to say but can't remember. Guess my mind is all cleared out after a tempo run. Too cold outside, the north wind biting with sharp teeth, and too hot in the Y. I did the treadmill, first mile @10:00, second a little over 9, then the tempo portion for 3 miles about 8:30 pace, max 8:13. I looked in the mirror afterwards and my face was so red, rivers of sweat, etc. Green smoothie in my Thermos, which hit the spot and there were a few chunks of frozen banana so that may have helped cool me off.

Good luck Ilene! I think I hit 50 once, maybe twice, but it was totally unintentional. This week I won't even be making 40, and lucky if I get to 30. The right leg is not happy in all sorts of ways, and it's high time I stopped ignoring it. It's one thing to have a relatively high tolerance for pain; it's another to just be an idiot.

That said, I'm on the idiot side of the fence today. I knew my quad and hip flexor were achy, but I went out to run anyhow. When I started having sharp twinges of pain in the hamstring origin toward the end of the run, I knew I had seriously goofed. But I took off Monday, isn't that enough?? Heh, silly ego, Trix are for pulled hamstrings.... Made it home, found the ice gel pack in the freezer and the wraparound pouch it goes in, and literally put my ass in a sling. I suppose I could spend time now alternating between beating myself up for getting injured and trying to figure out the exact reason why this happened, but I'd like to think I'm a bit more evolved than that lately. Yeeeeah, right.

per doc's orders, I have to take an unexpected day off. too bad because it's actually quite nice out there - sunny, mild, shorts weather. but my low back had been bothering me for the last couple days, went to see my back doc, he did some voodoo magic on it but didn't recommend I hit the pavement and cause too much impact/jarring, so said I should wait til tomorrow. i'm a good patient - at least when I actually go to the doc - so wait it is. good thing it's just a low mileage, easy week for me.

Hi Johnny... the knee thing went away in the late fall, but has re-surfaced a bit in the last few weeks. Think I'd been overdoing the abductors at the expense of the adductors, and neglecting the quads. Once I started balancing things out a bit, it started to get better. Not there quite yet, but at least heading in the right direction. Thanks for asking.

Greetings, Masterfuls.

Fifty miles in a week, wow. I used to be able to do that. Now I'm at the point where it's almost a monthly milestone.

Tough day today. I slogged out two miles. Walk breaks included. I have 42 miles for the month. Try for something better tomorrow, but more snow coming....

Good runs, all
