So last night was day one at the Fire Academy. It's a "military" style training program so last night featured a lot of yelling. I am here by known as "Cadet Greenberg." We learned how to salute, stand at attention, parade rest, at ease etc. We were also given an overview of what we'll be doing for the next seven weeks. Yikes.<br><br>
We got a little snow last night and we're supposed to be getting a bigger storm tonight. If it hits the kids will probably have off from school.<br><br>
Oh yeah - I feel like crap - seem to be coming down with a cold.<br><br>

<b>Larry</b> feel better. Also, my dad couldn't have a beard for a LONG time b/c of those same masks. Pipeline guys had to go to fire school in Kenai every year and be qualified fire fighters. First thing he did when he left Alyeska Pipeline Co was grow it! It was cold above the arctic circle...he needed that beard! <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

Cold here and snow expected tonight!!! Last night was nothing to speak of, just a little coating.<br><br><b>LL</b> does your town also have paid firefighters? That program sounds intense, good luck with it!<br><br><b>Moe</b> re: waxing go for it!! It really isn't that bad!!!<br><br>
Ok, kind of a dumb question for you all. I did a major bathroom cleanout last night and have lots of expired meds to get rid of. Things like my reflux pills I am not too concerened about but I do have some antibiotics (they were for the doggies) and lots of pain killers (left overs form my surgery 2 summers ago). I know old wisdom was to flush them but I seem to recall that opinion on that changed and you shouldn't especially if antibiotics are in the mix. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I was going to call my township and ask but last time I did I asked about disposing of needles (had a diabetic dog) I think they though I was a drug addict!!!<br><br>
Ok, off to the lab. Lots to do and today is meeting Thursday!

A few of the companies around us have one or two paid people but most are all volunteer. It does seem a little intense.<br><br>
Last night was like the opening scene of "An Officer and A Gentleman." I heard things from the lead instructor like:<br><br>
"You will not like me and I don't care."<br>
"You do not have my permission to get hurt."<br>
"If I don't do my job right people die."<br><br>
And my personal favorite.....<br><br>

last night my boss came by and told me I am managing things so well they are going to take 4 products from someone else who is swamped and give them to me and my people to manage. So basically we got rewarded for our hard work with....more work. ACK!!!<br><br><b>Mary</b> we are expectin 35 degrees this weekend. yesterday morning it was -14 so the temp will change almost 50 degrees in 4 days here and it has been worse up by you so the swing intemps is probably even more dramatic for you! I need me some spring weather!!<br><br>
