morning peeps.

Woke up to a bit of snow this morning, nothing much, just enough to make me hate everything in my closet.

FUN: met up with 2 of my 3 BFLs (best librarian friends) last night...I love that I can meet them on a Wed night, and someone will actually order us Jagermeister shots.

We had a slight dusting of snow here too. Barely even noticeable on the grass, just had to brush off my car windows and scrape a little. Nothing to get excited about, especially compared to what we had 3 years ago this month, when we had a snowstorm dump 20+ inches in the largest ever snowfall for the city from a single storm.

Hello all - met up with Dan yesterday evening; had fun catching up and talking about all sorts of stuff at a "Pan-Latin" (whatever that means) restaurant in the Mission District. First ones there, so didn't have to talk above noise most of the time there, and the food turned out to be good. Strong-ass mojitos too (especially for a lightweight like me).

Ended up taking a longer walk than expected (GPS on my cell phone sucks) afterward to grab a couple scoops of both of our favorite pasttimes - ice cream. Here's a pic of us enjoying our wares at Humphry Slocombe (had to get the golden kitty with the waving arm behind us)

Thanks for the good thoughts yesterday, you guys. I just wish my sister was a more responsible type of person. This is gonna be tough on all sorts of things.

Winter, you were here!? So close! I wish I'd known, I would have dropped over to see you...I would have insisted!

Just an FYI if you're planning on going make sure Yosemite is open. Currently it's closed because of all of the mudslides and what not. They are saying that giant boulders are falling right in the middle of the roads from the mtn's above!

SUPAH FUN FOR ME: A day off to hang with the boys!! The stars aligned so I can do absolutely zero work today. The boys had a sleep over last night and I slept in until 9:00 am! Woot! I am making us egg sandwiches and then we are going bowling. Then we are thinking about doing some rock climbing at Boulders this afternoon. It doesn't open until 4 though. Oh, and the boys also have gift cards for Borders, so we are going to get some new books too. Yay.

Mmm, ice cream. It's time for me and the kiddo to make another batch of homemade stuff. I'm leaning towards some kind of peanut butter concoction...

Glad you guys had fun in San Fran.

We got an icy dusting on Tuesday night, and then another one last night. Okay, this is the last of the icy/snowy stuff for the year, right?

Hoops! I'm glad the Gators play the early game in New Orleans tonight. No way I'm gonna stay up to watch the end of the late game. But if we win, we'll play the winner of the Wisconsin-Butler game on Saturday for a trip to the Final Four.

Didn't Wisconsin make the Final Four in 2006? That was our first National Championship year. We beat George Mason in the semis and UCLA in the finals, but wasn't Wisc the fourth team? I don't think the Gators have ever played Wisconsin though...

The Gators have played Butler before, though. In 2000, our second-ever Final Four year, Butler gave us a heck of a scare, I think it was Round 2. We needed a clutch shot at the buzzer from Mike Miller to avoid defeat. That was the only close game we played in the tourney that year, before we got thumped by Michigan State in the finals.

I think our game vs BYU is a toss-up tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose. But I also like our chances of getting to the school's 5th Final Four. Winning the whole thing? Uh, I don't think so. But I'd be thrilled with another Final Four appearance. It'd make 5 since I attended school there...

Wip- we hadn't planned on including Yosemite on this trip anyway, and I was glad after I heard about the park closure earlier this week due to snow. I hadn't heard about mudslides and boulders, though. Yikes!

Heh, I just looked it up. Wisconsin was also in the Final Four in 2000, not in 2006. We beat North Carolina in the semis, while Wisconsin lost to Michigan State. LSU was the 4th team in 2006 that lost to UCLA. It's funny that I mixed that up...

I also wanted to see which teams have had the most Final Four appearances since the 1993-1994 season (my first year on campus at UF as a grad student). Unless I miscounted:

North Carolina (7)

Michigan State (6)

Duke (5)

Florida (4)

UCLA (4)

UConn (3)

Kansas (3)

Kentucky (3)

Arizona (3)

Wow. Not bad for a "football school" to be mixed in with those basketball powerhouses. After this weekend, certainly one or more of those teams could add to their total. I just hope we're one of them.

Okay, nobody else here even remotely cares about this. But at least I had fun...

Not many. Several have closed here too, but there are a couple that are still open. That is part of why I want to get over there and get some new books over spring break. I'd hate to see $50 go to waste. Plus, it is always fun picking out new books with the boys.

one of our Boarders closed... of course it was the awesome one. It was beautiful and huge and packed to the gills with every book you could imagine. It had an awesome cafe in it and massive windows with the most comfy chairs in front of them. The one that's left is little and in a strip mall.

Too cool that Dan and Moonie got to hang out together.

Fun: I'm getting a new Mtn Bike today. I have DW's minivan with the bike carrier on the back ready to go pick it up. Both of my kids got new bikes for Xmas and we're all dying to hit the trails. But, baseball and softball season started this week and the game schedule will be something we have to work around. DD has her opening game tonight. DS's first game was Monday night. His team won.

I'm also hoping to keep my eye on NCAA basketball games tonight. My bracket it toast in one cornver. But I can still get Duke, Kansas, and NC to my final 4 for 3 outa 4. Sorry boB. But if that Gators make it that's cool too.
