Uh. I'm working at home and I"m still in my jammies. That's sort of fun. Granted, it would be more fun if I was just at home and NOT working, but alas.. they don't pay me for that.
 
It's getting downright cold in Georgia! Saturday morning I have a 10 mile event planned. The low that morning is 31. Brr! NOT fun! <img alt="smile.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies//smile.gif">

Fun: Off today!
Not fun: I'm waiting for the heating guy. I actually got a sinking feeling in my belly when I realized he probably won't show up until later in the day.
Fun: I'm hoping to make some lavender lemon cupcakes today! I don't know what it is about fall, but I always want to bake a lot this time of year.

Morning!! Today is my Friday woot woot!!!<img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/hello2.gif" style="width:25px;height:27px;" title=""> And tomorrow I get to talk to my doc about when I will start my leave, hoping for sooner rather than later!
 
So in another instance of me underestimating the size of my belly, I got stuck behind little man's new bed yesterday. Twice. Luckily DH couldn't find teh camera <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif" style="width:16px;height:16px;" title=""> His bed is HUGE and we originally planned to keep the firetruck in there just in case so it was a tight squeeze. But he successfully slept in it last night so the firetruck will be parked in the garage for now. I am really excited cause now we can finish the rest of the decorations in the room, so fun!!
 
We just got a new snow day policy at work this week. It's not good. Last year we got pounded and had some stretches of multiple days off. Well apparently this year, if the site is closed for more than one day, we need to use vacation time or work from home. Ok, so for the office people they can work from home, no issues. But for the lab rats, well that doesn't fly. There is absolutely no way I will use vaca time because the company decided to close the site, how is that even fair?!
 
Ok folks, off to look busy...I think I am already starting to mentally check out here!

Fun: Saucon stayed with us last night on her way to DC! Always great to see her. It's pretty much a laugh-fest from the time she arrives until we part. <img alt="biggrin.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies//biggrin.gif" style="width:1px;height:1px;">
 
Fun: I found GoV's scale (he had hidden it from me for my own good) and weighed myself with the scale on the carpet. I matched my low of 2 years ago when I got REALLY skinny!!!! <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/icon_cheers.gif" style="width:24px;height:24px;" title="">
 
Not fun: And then I moved the scale onto the hardwood floor and gained 13 pounds in 3 seconds. 
 
Beaker, that sucks ass. All of the lab folks have to unite and complain about that. Sounds like management didn't take into account that some people simply cannot work from home, no matter how much they would like to. This is one of the (many!) times I am glad I don't work in corporate America.

Morning! Cold here. Too bad the kiln isn't in the house. I've got it going, and boy would that toast things up. I guess I'll have to be sure to cook/bake something.

I'm sorry Beaker, but I couldn't help laughing at the mental picture I had of you stuck behind Little Man's bed....too deliciously funny! I wouldn't laugh if I didn't love ya so much. <img alt="smile.gif" class="bbcode_smiley" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies//smile.gif">
 
Theia.... that's why my scale is in my bathroom, so I'm not tempted to step on it when it's not on a hard surface. It's quite shocking to see the difference! <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/shock.gif" title=""> (I rarely step on it anyway, I just go by how my jeans are fitting, but I have moments of insanity.) 
 
Snow??? Gah. Although, if I end up getting accepted at University of Illinois, I'll be dealing with that next fall. It's funny how when you move away from snow, it's like your brain just sort of erases it from the mental hard drive. (Sorta like square roots and exponents, apparently. <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/confused.gif" title=""> )
 
I'm off today also, but must focus. More math review, rewriting my statement of purpose, and LAUNDRY which I have neglected for far too long.

morning peeps!
 
The opera (Tosca) last night was interesting...because it was the dress rehearsal, they weren't playing it as they would in full performance, but additionally, the tenor lead's been sick and they had a stand in for him for the last two acts! The stand in was at the orchestra level, with a podium, while the lead acted on stage. <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/huh.gif" title=""> Weird. Also, during the 3rd act, I realized my friend was on stage! He's just a "filler" person, non-singer. I didn't realize he was in it, but I knew he does it from time to time, so I wasn't shocked. When I emailed him about it last night, he said he also played Mussolini in the 1st act, but I didn't recognize him. Anyway, I think I'm going to buy tix and go again, during the run, to see it as it was meant to be seen.
 
Fun: date planned with The Guy for burgers and shakes at this little diner that's only open for dinner and only for burgers on Thurs nights. Normally they just do breakfast and lunch. Should be fun!
 
Fun: going with my sis on Sat to pick up their newly adopted dog!!!!!

ETA: I just tried some variations on this theme. Japan to S. Korea, to Vietnam... Vietnam to Indonesia. For all of these, it just tells you that they are unable to calculate a route. So... this means that someone chose this one combination to input the directions to "Jet Ski across the Pacific Ocean." There are probably others, but I really do have other stuff to do. <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/lol.gif" style="width:15px;height:15px;" title="">

When you type "Japan" or "China", how does it determine where in that country you start/end? Couldn't Step 43 just be Step 1?

Moe - that's very cool about your friend. Mila just landed a part in <a href="http://www.eugeneopera.com/season-laboheme.html" target="_blank">La Boheme by the Eugene Opera</a> as a street urchin. They will be performing around the new year.
 
I've been having some Green Acres moments lately. I really need to buy something to cut the grounds. I can afford a garden tractor, but they seem so limiting in what they can do so I've been looking at sub-compact tractors, which we can't afford currently. The <a href="http://kubota.com/product/CategoryRuralLifeStyle.aspx" target="_blank">Kubota web page</a> cracks me up, a little to close to the Cialis ads. I guess the smart thing would be to rent what I need or hire a neighbor to do the cutting for now.

Yeah, so our corp headquarters are located in Wilmington so when policies are made, we get lumped in with all the office folks. They also took away Jan 3 as a holiday this year because the markets are open so no more day off. It benefits me thing year though, instead it will be a floating personal holiday so it's one more day I get when I get back from maternity leave. I am not too worried about the new bad weather policy, I am just simply not going to enter a vaca day if the site is closed (we use an online system to manage our vaca time). I am such a rebel.
 
Boss and her hubby went on a last minute getaway to Ireland so she is out today and tomorrow. Me thinks once I get my stuff done, I am outta here!

nope, this is a place that just went on the market. 2 bed, says it's had some updates in the kitchen and refinished floors...but I'm dubious about the roof and the furnace, so we'll see. There are only exterior shots on the MLS listing.
