Solar said last night she needed one.

I'm in the "returning" group, too. Although I haven't been off as long as some and have nothing to complain about considering people have been ground to a halt for months, I ended up getting severe bronchitis and therefore, was without a run at all for two full weeks, and the two weeks before that was pretty minimal. I was instructed not to run a step until I stopped coughing--that was monday. The last two days I've run 4, 4, with some coughing after, but it seems to be helping, actually.

Today I'm doing an easy three on the TM--but I have no idea what to do from here??

I was really ticked because I know exactly who I got it from--a student who coughed on a paper and handed it to me, then was out of school for the next two weeks, too. I thought to myself "go wash your hands" and didn't--I was teaching.

Silly me.

Happy runs today, all! What you got? :)

crane, recover well. Bronchitis knocks me down for weeks when I get it.

5 easy miles for me this morning. The weather has finally turned cool and perfect.

Thanks Crane I don't need a kick to return as much as a returning group to commiserate with about how difficult it is to return after a significant time off. I'm sooooooooo out of running shape! UGH. Glad you're feeling better!!!

I plan on running today after a work meeting and then, if I make it in time, trying the new yoga class.

I'm getting super excited for the marathon weekend -- and frustrated, too, since I can't run it

I sympathize with you guys who are just getting back into the running thing. Y'all know that I've had my moments, between the broken ankle and the onset of epilepsy, etc. But I kept coming back for more. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. That's why we do it...

I'm certainly not in that boat now, but I have been in a bit of a running funk lately. I've taken a lot of down time in the last month and a half or so (basically ever since TCM), and I don't have a really good reason for why. Maybe I just needed a break and some time to recharge my batteries. Last night I tried to get in a decent run, and I did 7.2 miles of hills. I'll take it. I've got a marathon coming up 3 weeks from Saturday, so I gotta get some good miles in sooner or later. Hopefully I'll be able to do 20-ish this weekend. Even still, I think this marathon in Charlotte will just be a Get-It-Done kind of thing without any real time goal...

Good runs to everybody today!

Morning Gang -

Count me in the running funk/having trouble returning to running group. I don't have an excuse, other than I've been lazy, eating too much, drinking too much and working too much, so haven't been making time for running. The biggest thing for me, I think, is that I don't have a goal race that I like (i've abandoned idea of training for frozen HM), so I don't have a reason to force myself out into the cold each morning. I keep thinking, "next week will be the week that I get back at it". But then something better keeps coming along (more food and drinks). Out of town wedding this weekend, so definitely won't be making my return to running this weekend. Maybe next week.

Hey all! After 2 weeks of complete slacking, I feel like I am starting to get excited about training again. It helps that it is (IMHO) awesome running weather. It was 32 this morning. Chilly, but nice. I got 7 sleazy miles in. I finally feel ready to make some plans and start training again.

5 miles this morning, with the last two fast (last one at tempo pace). Felt good. Leg circuits tonight when I get home from work.

Commemorated TCM and GR last night by adding two stars to my shoulder. Did something different with these two since they were so close together and gave me maniac status. I'll post pics on my blog in a few days after they heal up a bit and the colors are truer.

I feel ya on the getting started again. I haven't been running anything for the last 4-6 weeks or so. I finally have something resembling a plan and it is really helping.

I actually got out of bed and met my swimming partner this morning. 800meters isn't much, but it is done and in the log.

I dunno if I need support so much as I need a kick in the @$$.

we can do that - thats a form of support!!

my point is, it is encouraging to me to know that there are others who also aren't in the places they would like to be in.. yet, continue to trudge on. i have been reluctant to post my measly miles/ attempts at fitness (one day, i only ran 0.7 miles b/c allie had a major meltdown!) but i will when i can!!

no fitness to report as of yet, but when i was rocking/shushing allie to sleep just now, i did 20 deep squats while paying attention to engaging my core and squeezing my butt on the way up.

hopefully, i'll have some sort of run to report later!

did 5 faster paced miles last night. My feet are not happy with me lately :(

something after work today. I meant to get up and bike this morning like I did yesterday but I was super tired. I guess I was having a fight in my dream last night and mildly assaulted someone. :(

I concur! I get so dang excited about the cooler conditions... had a convo with another runner last night about loving to bundle up and head out. Even though our weather isn't exactly cool, well it's more cool today, but yesterday and the day before were near 60* ???

Philly Runners - I'm going to drive down early Sunday morning and get myself set up along the course. Thinking something before the 7 mi mark (prob 6.75 before you cross the river), after the HM mark (closer to mi 14) and then near 25.5 mi

solar, let me know where you get stationed. When do you get your assignment?

Maria, I'll look out for you. PTom usually hangs right at the corner of the Art Museum and and Kelly Drive.

To all of you who are "returning" runners ... recover well and take it easy. It took me 5 months to finally get back into the swing of things after my stress fracture healed up. Plenty of time ahead. :)

As ready as I'll ever be. This might be the most ready I've been for a marathon. Weather looks perfect too. Could be a good weekend if I run smart and am not way ahead of the 3:00 pace group at the 10k, like I was in Chicago last year. :)

Maria - I'll touch base with you in the morning.

Jill - I'm not exactly sure where at the start I'll be, and I'm not sure I'll know that until race morning (I check in at 6am). I'm pretty certain the guy is having me be one of those people who holds the corral line. Not sure which corral, though. I told him I have to leave early to head to work, so they're giving me a job that won't last past 9ish am...

Baggs -- the weather is looking PERFECT. Sunday's your day. No worries, no concerns. Just run your race.
