morning all,

Did a reverse brick last night. Went to the Trak Shak for the usual Wed night run. Met a couple of my buddies and we did the 8 mile loop a little early. That gave me time to get across the street to the bike store for the Ride of Silence that started at 7:00pm. That was fun in an eary sort of way. There's no talking and you feel like you're in a funeral procession. But, it was great to honor those who have been lost in accidents and raise cycling awareness in the community. There was easy 150 cyclists and we had a full police escort for the entire 8 miles. After there was free BBQ...which was nice.

What a great tribute Tim. The people getting killed, my own accident a couple of years ago, and the fact that Chrissie Wellington is currently down due to a bike accident are all reasons I only ride in the protections of a trail never on the road.

I'll do a longerish swim this afternoon with a friend.

7 miles this morning. Workout called for 40 minutes easy, 20 minutes tempo, 2 easy miles...was about 15 seconds per mile slow on the tempo portion but some of that may be due to the humidity. Tough workout but it's going to help me plan a realistic goal pace for the HM next weekend.

Tim - Thanks for doing that. We had a school function and couldn't have attended the Eugene ride last night after participating the last 4 years as a family.

I did the Ride of Silence here last night, too. Hooked the girls onto the Chariot. They slept through the whole thing. We had about 40 cyclists so that was a nice group for here. I really enjoyed riding in the safety of the group on the street with the police escort.

Today I slept in but I hope to get my run in after supper. It's a gorgeous day out there and we haven't seen the sun in weeks!

Ok, since it's been a while since I did this, how many weeks out should I start my official marathon training?

Afternoon all! Feels like a million yrs ago when I ran but upon checking back it was just this morning... tells you a bit about how the time since then has gone. Gah. At any rate, a nice 6.7 miles this morning in crazy foggy conditions along my downtown bridges route. Met up with my 2 regular buddies + another girl that just got in from Corpus Christi for RTB. Upon arriving back home I had an email from one of the guys on my team saying he couldn't participate b/c of a family emergency requiring him to leave town. I totally understood but had to scramble to find a replacement at such short notice. Once again the running community pulled through and I not only have 1 replacement but an addt'l runner so my team can run at 10 people now. Whew!! We pick up the big vans in just abt an hour and start our trek north. Looking forward to not dealing with the planning anymore and just RUNNING!

Employee appreciation day here, so I was running around with various volunteer duties. Also did the 3 mile fitness walk. That was well timed for the HM taper :)

yo

seems like i'm able to workout about as often as i'm able to check in here. infrequent at best.

got to the gym today for some lifting and expresso bike riding. the 4 or 5 days of rain make it tough to get some rides in...as does being swamped at the office.

tim/clare - cool event. i was out for a ride last week and had some meathead high schooler in his car (seat reclined, shirt off, g-friend in passenger seat) honking his horn and then screaming at me at the next stop sign. big time tool but had me weary/leery of who was around and coming from behind for the rest of my ride. i'm not liking not being able to see what's coming my way - yet another unfortunate side effect of not running.

no more falling!

cheers
