Well, I wish I could tell you that I was so inspired by yesterday's discussion that I woke up early, hopped right out of bed, and went for a nice long swim this morning.... but that would be a big fat lie. No swim -- again -- this morning. Now I have to do mile repeats and a swim tonight.

I got out for my first double in ages last night. It was a beautiful night and the kids had lax practice, so I went out for 5 and then met them at the fields.

But on my morning run today, my right shin felt splinty. Me no likey. I think it's still the shoes. After having issues with the redesign of the Mizuno Wave Rider (which I've been wearing since 2007), they fitted me into the Brooks Ghost (3?). I don't think there's enough cushion in the forefoot. I think I need to find some inserts soon.

2 weeks until VT City!

2oh - My cousin did the VT Tough Mudder last weekend, the day after his college graduation. My unlce said he finished under 3 - so he was happy.

did 7 miles last night - temp was better but it was still pretty humid. I opted to sleep in this morning. TC 1 mile tonight. Man, I hate mile races. I suck at speed.

Nice morning runs!

I got out for 5 slow, fabulous miles. It was humid, but in the mid 50s. So nice to be running in the daylight so early in the morning too!

2oh - are you doing Tough Mudder? I guess I need to go back through yesterday's posts. I am doing TM Wisconsin in July. I am so excited about it and a wee bit worried. I hope there isn't too much swimming involved or I may just drown. And the monkey bar type things - yeah, I've got some work to do.

Nice runs last night and this morning, folks!

Good luck with the mile, Brandy. I've never raced a mile, but I know what you mean. I almost think 5ks hurt more than marathons because you're pushing youself to the limit just about the whole way. Last Summer I "raced" a mile on my own just to see how fast I could do it, and it hurt like hell. I'm thinking I may actually try it again this year to see where I stand. This is just on my own at the track, so it's completely unofficial. But at least it lets me know where I stand...

Anyhoo, last night I did almost 7 miles of hills. I think I'll take the day off today. I could use a rest day...

I'm swimming tonight -- Second week of the OWS sessions! I hope the lake is a touch cleaner than last week. I didn't mind the cold, but I'd like some of the muck to be gone. I'll shoot for a mile again. Maybe more. We'll see. They are also setting up bike racks so we can practice transitions. This is a really cool series of OWS sessions that my friend (and Beaker's old coach) is running.

I'll probably do a short bike ride after work before heading down to the swim, just in case I decide not to take the bike tonight. I kinda wanna focus on the swimming part right now.

Missy - which HM are you doing? I think I missed that.

Greetings, all,

I have 3-5M on tap for after work. I actually had my alarm clock wake me up at 5:15am, but when it went off, all I could think of was "you gotta be kidding me....", as I quickly reset it for an hour later and returned to slumber. :)

I just found a half marathon in the metro Atlanta on June 18th. Part of me thinks I"m NUTS for considering a half that time of the year. We've already had two 90 degree days. Part of me knows that I don't have another half until October, and since it's close enough to drive - I am considering it.. Hrm....

Missy, you've got a half this weekend? Awesome! You'll do great!

I just found out there's a 5k and 10k race this weekend in Cheticamp (a French community north of here, on the ocean). Prizes are lobsters. I'm thinking I may have to venture on up there for that!

Just over 2 weeks til the Cabot Trail Relay. I've been running a lot, getting lots of hills in. But I'm still not totally ready for the killer that is North Mountain. I hope I can finish in a respectable time!

5.1 humid miles this morning...really glad spring decided to completely flake on us this year and let summer move right in.

Forecast for the 25k on Saturday is ideal temp wise but with a 60% chance of showers...do not want to run in the rain.

Afternoon all! Yesterday's early morning caught up with me and today's run will have to happen this evening, including a 2 mile time trial ...PAIN!

Shannon – nice work on the double! Remind me, are you running the HM or relay at VT?

Nice tempo, Cindi

Brandy & boB - I’d wayyyy rather run a mile race over a 5K, the latter is like a mile race x 3 aka 2 mins of oxygen deprivation (Missy! )

Hiya Dan!

Colleen – how many legs will you run in the relay?

It's probably going to rain on me for Saturday's 10K too, if that makes you feel any better.

I have never had full on collapsing tunnel vision in a 5k nor a trail of spittle down the side of my face with no desire/strength to wipe. Sadly in a mile race, I have.

Maria - DH and I are doing the 2 person marathon relay at VT. I applied via the lottery to support my sister who had registered for the full, but she has since deferred for a year and now it's just us. This is DH's first real race other than a couple 5ks many years ago. I fully realized that when he was asking me about how to handle water stops.
