Greetings, all.

4.0 on the hamster wheel last night. Forgot to do core/weights, but I'll get that done today.

While I"m loving it now - the temps in GA's winter are starting to scare me as far as what this summer would bring. Today we start another warming streak. Saturday, the high is going to be around 67 degrees. In JANUARY?! Wtf?! Granted, on Saturday, I"ll be loving it, but wow... I hope that same heat increase isn't coming in July/Aug/Sept!

My weekend smells busy, but I'm still glad it's almost here!

Big congrats need to go out to Tim for Houston - nice job! And boB, your pictures always make it look effortless! Alexis was as gorgeous as ever - so glad to see things coming back for you!

I've been hitting the treadmill myself since it's so cold and icy here. I do some kind of interval to keep from losing my mind...and I'm finding that I actually like it. There is a great group of women using the school fitness center and the atmosphere is very supportive. Usually my hips really bother me after treadmill running, but I've made a point of stretching afterwards - pigeon pose and cow face - wow, does that ever help.

Work has been nuts lately. And since the governor just released his state budget on Tuesday, we now know we have another 2+ million dollar gap that we need to make up. For the second year in a row. That equates to more than 40 teaching positions. And in our district a 2% tax levy cap only equals 150k.

I know there's been a lot of press about the teachers and unions, but I'm telling you, there is no waste in our school. I'd challenge our governor to try and create a better budget than we have. We will be lucky if we can afford to give them a basic education. He claims to be the lobbyist for kids...well, he must mean the rich kids who go to private schools (like his daughters)...cuz he definitely isn't looking out for the poor rural kids.

Ok...rant over.

morning everyone

i did the boot camp last night and it wasn't as hard as I thought. Just some general foam roller ball work (which I needed), some 'correctives' (i.e. active stretches) and then 4 stations of tabata intervals. I was a bit hestitant as i didn't really know 2 of the moves so I underguessed on the weights and didn't get the full effect.

oh well, still sore though :)

and yes, I somehow overslept by 75 minutes this morning. NO IDEA. Nothing like getting ready in 15 minutes when it is 20 below.

Good morning, ladies. Cold here too.

Once again, I worked late and didn't run yesterday. Some extra rest after the marathon isn't a bad thing. I will try to get out there today... although I said that each of the last two days too...

After looking at a bunch of the pictures from Arizona, I do seem to look pretty happy in most of them. That surprised me, becuase I don't remember actually being all that happy. I thought I was upset about the bum foot and the slow time. But in retrospect, maybe taking it easy is in fact what made it fun. Once I realized that I wasn't going to get a good time, that took all the pressure off. It's just another reminder, I guess, that sometimes it's fun to just run and not stress about speed...

Hah..today is apparently National Popcorn Day. Who'dda thunk it? :)

Bob - I agree with RiL's comments: You don't look like you need to jettison any tonnage, and you look happy and in control in your pics. :)

Frack. It is currently -24 degrees with the windchill and no hopes of warming up above the single digits for the next several days. Even worse - we are supposed to get up to 8 inches of snow tomorrow. Boo. Thank goodness I am fortunate enough to have a treadmill.

Quick question: Anyone ever see Blue Man Group? Thinking about taking the boys next week. I think they'd get a kick out of it.

Kath - If you ever get the chance and you're bored, try to Skype me at "duckgeek" during the day so that I can see Oskar in live action.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the 30s mojo is turning around and headed in the positive direction for 2012.

Yesterday's workout was brief, but it felt like a significant step in the right direction. 5 min run, 1 minute walk, 4 repeats, plus 2 minutes of faster running tacked onto the end.

OK, I am not going to say a thing about our winter weather after reading this. It's actually been pretty mild around here so far, haven't had more than 1" of snow at a time, I don't think. We've fallen into single digits only once or twice.

Our living room is now pretty much set up except for things like photos and other decorative items. Tonight I'll be tackling the kitchen a bit more, and get it to be in a more usable state. We've been doing a lot of microwave cooking, and I want to get back to real cooking. I have a gas stove again, I am super excited about that. Tomorrow night, some of the old Ohio PRT gang is meeting for dinner in Columbus and they invited us to join them, so we will be doing that. I have met with them multiple times but this is the 1st time Moonie will be meeting them.

I've seen Blue Man in Las Vegas. I didn't really want to go, but I was there for a work function and others wanted to go, so I went...on my own $$. I eneded up liking the show a lot. It's really fun. My son wanted to go see it when we were at universal. I know that both of my kids would enjoy it. It's a great show.

Mornin' Got a crisp 7 miler in last night, need to remember to check the wind direction next time; I ran w/it at my back for the first half and had a rude awakening when turning around. Eeps. Today I'm running home from work, RUN COMMUTE!

Yes! When I lived in Chicago my apt was right down the block from the theatre that ran it there, saw it and really enjoyed it ... I know kiddos about your boys' ages that have enjoyed it too!
Nice pics, Tim! Did you write a Race Report? If so, I missed it. I'd love to read more about that fun weekend...

Blue Man Group. I saw them in New York a couple years ago. It was a lot of fun. I remember it being very loud. Like, you-want-to-cover-your-ears-after-half-an-hour loud. But it was a good time...
Well thanks, guys. It's weird, whenever I tell people how much I weigh, most people can't believe it. I'm 5'11", and I'm getting awfully close to 200 lbs. On a good day, I'm 195. A 5'11" marathoner really should be more in the 170 range, if not even less, right?

Thanks for all the Blue Man Group comments - I went ahead and bought tix because they are only here a few days and some of the shows are already sold out. My kids noticed all the signs at Universal too! Have to admit, I used to think it looked dumb, but after reading more about it, I am really looking forward to it!

Hola, peeps! Ran into the gym manager this morning and chatted with her about my trainer woes. I don't know if she was blowing smoke up my @ss, but she basically said that the ex-trainer handled the situation all wrong and the new trainer is fine working with me. I met her too, and though she looks like a Barbie, I hope she really pushes me. Of course, my back is acting up today, but it'll be fine.

Thanks for the hugs yesterday. I was just in a bummed out place, but then I had a phone meeting with a coauthor, and I'm really excited about our project and I have a direction in which to go, so that's filled out my sails a little bit.

Bard and Moon, don't forget to update the 30's card list with the new address (or send it to me and I will do it). Valentine's Day is (scarily) just around the corner.

The lunges I did this morning were easier to accomplish than in the past, but walking down stairs was a little tricky this morning. I love the hurts-so-good-pain of a good workout!

Love to all!
