Hope that throat is nothing to worry about. Up your Vitamin C just in case.

Damp & chilly here. Not a great day to go 12-13 but that's what's on the agenda. May go with a buddy, waiting to hear back from him while I have some breakfast.

Hawk- good luck w/ the long run

I got in 4.5 to get me even on the YTD. Probably wasn't a good idea to wear the Nike Frees seeing my shins hurt on yesterday's run... they were killing me today.

Hi, all.

BBS -- Nice job on the short run, and a I very much appreciate the "even" YTD effort.

Hawk -- Have a great long run.

Me -- Did a bike test last night on the trainer: 15 min. w/u, 30 min TT "hard as you can," with average heartrate the last 20 minutes serving as "lactate threshold heart rate." Came in at 159, right about where I thought. Good little workout, too.

It's 50 degrees, sunny and calm here today. Must head out for 8-9. Prolly a dip later, too.

Good day everyone.

BBS - Glad to see you got out there for a nice 4.5 miler after procrastinating.

Hawk - Hope you have some company for your run.

Me - Spent 50 minutes on the trainer doing Isolated Leg Drills. You can read the details of the workout here on my blog.

Happy training everyone.

Feeling better today. Hit up the indoor track for 6 miles w/ a fast finish. Given the nice weather I should have run outside but it was a decent workout. Well until I finished and discovered my track pants and long sleeve T had been swiped... WTF. Luckily the swiper realized their mistakes and I got my gear back.

Well I ended up going solo for my run but got it in. Nice and easy for 13.1. Hopefully that's OK with Chances, since well, it is a half-marathon. Wore my brand-new 2XU tights...super-expensive and worth every penny. Best tights ever. I'm going to post a review of them here at KR.

Dave - always finding new ways to train better. Nice.

Chances - sounds pretty intense. My HR hardly ever gets that high on the bike so you must have been really hauling it. Oh and I am jealous of your weather.

BBS - there's an old remedy for shin splints...take strip of tape, cut it down the middle and wrap each piece around your shins where they meet your ankle area. No idea why but it apparently works. And I love using the Frees on the treadmill, can't stand using bulky shoes on the belt.

RA - ETA, snuck in while I was typing. Nice job at the track.

Chance - Sounds like a familiar workout. I averaged 167 for my 20 minutes. I thought maybe it would be slightly higher near the low to mid 170s. What brand/model trainer are you using?

RA - Nice indoor workout.

Hawk - nothing like running a nice HM for a training run.

Dave -- Interesting workout. I do everything I can to avoid all drills. Though I know they're good for me. And 167 HR on a bike test? Sheesh, some great shape, there. I train on a Cycleops(TM), but I don't know the model offhand.

Hawk -- Yep, I was moving. Well, moving for being on a trainer. My HR rarely gets that high, too. Oh, and please post a pic of your tights so we can all comment. And 13.1 is always fine. Any race distance works.

RA -- Glad you got your stuff back. Wish we had an indoor facility nearby.

Workout #1 done. 8 miles @ 7:44, HR 144 avg. HR. Amazing how much faster at the same HR without all that winter gear. Felt great.

Nice job on all the workouts today. I decided no running today. I did some crunches etc... Tomorrow I will be back at it. I feel my body is getting rested and ready for the new year. Time to start figuring out what I will be doing training wise for next year. I got some money to get a training program etc.... or an online coach? Either way it will be good. Trying to improve my knowledge of training and such. Have a great day everyone.

You can't necessarily go by the HR. 167 is roughly 72% heart rate reserve. I use a max of 210 and resting heart rate of 58.
