I haven't started the thread in a long time. Anyway, i'm about to walk out the door for a 13 miler. I've just received email that my training partners are bailing, and they were the ones that wanted to start this early. I'm on vacation...I could be sleeping, but i'm already up and ready to go, so I might as well go....right?

Good runs to all.

Wow, good for you Tim. I never go out for a run this early...

I did a little over 7 miles last night with my neighbor. We ran in the sleet, at a pretty quick (for me, not so much for him) 8:32 pace. It was a little slippery, but we managed. I'll take today as a rest day; maybe hit the gym for some weights. I don't do enough of that...

I think that's it. Geez, we're close to the end of the year, eh? Everybody reach all their goals for 2007? If not, you'd better get crackin'...

Tim - I seem to be the queen recipient of bailing partners. Good for you for getting up and out regardless. You da' man.

GatorBob - it's awfu - my tracking spreadsheet with mileage is on my office computer, so I have NO idea where I will be finishing out the year! But I do know that I got stronger and faster, and I did manage to run close to 1500 miles this year. But not quite, and not close enough that I could cram them all in this week.

Scratch - I always need more coffee..

Myself, I am heading out for an undertermined distance at the lake, to splash thru countless puddles and wind up wet and chilled. Then I'm headed back into the city for Bikram yoga class number 4 (which, btw, my friend who talked me into going with her ALL week has been to ONCE).

Nothing planned today.

I've really been lazy the last two weeks - and you know what? I like it!

I'll start back up again hardcore after the 1st of the year.

Hey kids. Have not been posting\reading\lurking the last few days. No running for 6 days until yesterday, where I got out for a craptastic 4 miles. I was sleep deprived and dehydrated (lotso Christmas vino), and had spent the prior 36 hours eating like it was Christmas or something.

This AM, I got in my first 'hard' workout of my HM training - 4 x 4 mins at a hard pace (~5K pace) with 3 mins recovery. Warmup\cooldown\etc for a total of 5 miles.

I have 7 on tap tomorrow, 13 over the weekend, then 5 on Monday. That will put me at 993 miles for the year. Part of me really wants to squeeze in another 7 somewhere, but the sensible part of me remembers back spasms.

Happy running all.

You know, this last year has been my first really serious year of improving fitness and conditioning. I made some improvement in 2006 by the way of golfing and walking around 2 or 3 times a week, but this last year has been a year of trying to make some huge leaps by ways of small steps.

Of course, when you're starting out from near the bottom, you've got a lot more room to move towards the ceiling. So I'll probably not see such huge gains in 2008, but I'm pretty happy right now about the progress I made. Like this morning, I grabbed the pull up bar to do a near max set and see how many I could get up to. 15, and there were a few more still to be had if I had decided to push the limit. It's totally weird at times, at the beginning of the year it took effort on each pull up or chin up. Today, the first 8 or so I was hardly even feeling any effort on those.

I'm still having trouble adjusting my self-image with all of this too. I don't feel like a guy who can do 15 pull ups. But I did.

Supposed to cross train tonight. The lazy bug has bit me quite hard. Maybe I'll set aside an hour. I need to badly.

Morning folks.

Rest night last night. Will hop on the TM this eve for.... well.. I dunno. Whatever I feel like doing, really.

One of my 2008 goals is to start incorporating weight training into my routine. What/how often still remains to be seen. I'm hoping that by this time next year, I can be comparing my 'before and after" pull up stats, too!

morning

I did 7 last night. I think it was at a good pace....I don't know for sure because I forgot my Garmin. The conditions weren't great. An inch or two of snowy slush was on the ground making traction a little iffy. The hills were the best!!! I am planning on lifting at the gym and then doing about 5 on the treadmill. Must get miles in.

Nettie, I cannot wait to read your RR for your first ultra!

I am not planning on a run today. Instead, I am going to enjoy the fact that I have a Thursday evening free for once.

Wow! Two good runs in row, seperated by less than 12 hours (some of it sleeping). Since my training partners bailed, I was actually able to run today the way that I really needed to.

I think I've been guilty of running my easy runs too fast. So, today, I truly kept it at an easy pace. I ended up with 13.1 miles in 1:51:12, that's 8:29 pace. My average heart rate was a very low 142 (it's like I wasn't even working) and my max HR for the run was 158.

I'm glad to have that done and over with. I need to do my LR tomorrow since we're leaving to go out of town for the weekend.

I need to finish (and start) writing my year end summary report. To answer boB's question, yes, 2007 is almost over and all my goals have been met or surpassed, or crushed in some cases. So I got that going for me ...

On the year end run report thing, how are we going to do it? Post them in one thread in the 30s forum? Or post them in seperate threads in the RR forum and just link people over to them?

The snow has temporarily stopped here. I did manage the 12 miles yesterday. The running was a bit slippery, but not too bad. I went at a decent pace and the run really felt effortless. Gotta like that.

Not sure on the run tonight. Probably going out for a few beers, so we'll see what happens.

Good Morning,

6.5 miles at recovery pace this morning. I actually kept it really slow for once, which felt nice. This is something I'm going to force myself to do during this training cycle, it's too easy to just always be running at the same pace all the time. I think my body is begining to accept that it's already back in a training cycle as today's run was really enjoyable.

I might make a play at getting on the dreaded rollers later today. I can see them, over in the corner, laughing at me...it's time to deal with it. I hope I don't kill myself.

Nice runs today everyone!

Morning all! Headed out to the country today ...just about 45-50 min. southwest of STL to visit w/my dad's family. May get a nice trail run done or some horse riding (which counts as x-training, right?)
