Loopy - I'd have thought that all that sleep yesterday would result in 12. Oh well. Good job and the 8.

Early start to work so nothing to report but will shoot for another TM 5'er later if I have time and/or motivation.

Loopy- if you are runnimg late, wouldn't that result in more miles? or did you just slow down a bit?

loopy--only 8?

Asics--it would take a heck of a lot of motivation for me to run on the dreadmill.

BBS--hope you can make it to the the expo today!

It's Thursday, so in order to keep the earths rotation in check, that meant I headed to the gym. 2500m in the fishbowl. Kinda funny, I kept wondering how my "bunny" kept getting ahead of me. Oh... I was lapping him.

4BM- Nice job on the swim today.

I got out and even though the temperature was not as cold as it has been it felt quite cold today. 5.04 miles in 58:51(8:51).

Hey all,

Quick post for me, as I'm behind schedule (again) and I have lots to do.

I bagged the interval workout last night...left the office too late to make the club track session, had already agreed to cede the treadmill at home to DW so she could do her run, and just didn't feel like going out in the cold, wind and darkness. So I instead banged out a hard 45 minutes on the elliptical and worked the weights; those 5 sets of bench presses done while lying on the giant Pilates ball are sure to catch up with me sometime today...that's the D in DOMS.

I got my lottery entry in for Cherry Blossom...we'll see what happens. DW also signed up. This will be interesting, her first foray into long distance running. Now I've got to help her put together a training plan.

Oh, and I'll get the interval workout in today somehow. 10 x 400.

Nice running, swimming, tapering and whatever else all...

Even at 3pm, my lunch was not sitting well so had to cut my run short at 3 miles... I now recall why I normally run before lunch. Also, it seems that I've been wrangled into an indoor triathlon relay on Sunday. I have to run for 20mins. While helping out last year, I noticed that the TMs were crappy and max out at 10 mpm. The plan is to run at that pace all the way... famous last words.

Well this morning;s run was interesting. I woke up, lost the battle with the snooze alarm, AGAIN, and finally got out the door. About half way through my run, I saw a couple of deer walk out of the woods onto the sidewalk in front of me, I guess they saw me and both started running into the street, right in front of an oncoming truck.

Yep, one deer got smashed by the truck and I saw it fly through the air and I saw the other deer go down also. I assumed it got hit also but maybe the second deer hit the truck? Well anyway, I was still running and I saw the truck basically just slow down some and then I guess he figured nothing serious happened to his truck so he kept on driving. I could see the second deer struggling to get up and I assumed it was a goner. I saw 2 ladies running in the opposite direction and I warned them about the hit deer so they wouldn't get hurt.

I got to the end of the road, doubled back and by the time I got to where the deer got hit, I finally saw the first deer on the other side of the road from where it got hit, dead obviously, and I couldn't find the second, so I am guessing the second one either survived or limped back into the woods where it probably died. Very bizarre sight to see the deer, then see the truck lights and I just knew at last one of the deer was going to get hit. I was really surprised that the truck didn't stop to check for damage. I looked back to see if the truck stopped but it never did. It would have been interesting to see how much damage actually happened to the truck.

I did get 10 okay miles in.

FB--deer are amazing. We had one slip on ice and break its leg. I called Ohio Wildlife but they don't make "house calls" and assured me that it would probably be okay since it was up and moving. Sure 'nuf, it's still around although its leg is deformed. Dumb thing in Ohio, it used to be illegal to take a deer that had been killed. Uh, yah, like someone was going to total their car just so they could bag a deer out of season...

Late report.

Interval workout done at home on the TM earlier. 10 x 400 at tempo interval pace, which for me ended up being 9.2 mph or 6:31/mile. In top form, that would be a snap for me but after 5 weeks of no speedwork it felt fairly tough. I'm sure I'll get my legs back under me quickly.

Sleep tight all and see you on the flip side...
