Push ups, pull ups and core, followed immediately by a 45 min run this morning with 25 in Z4. Got poured on the last 10 min of the run and my Garmin died on me at 38% battery life with about 2 min left (more on that later), so my 10 minute cool down is a guess based on past runs and gmaps.pedometer.

As Thor mentioned in the Streak Thread, I go out for a "quick" mile on my non run days, to keep the streak going. If you are going to do a faster paced one like I have been doing, do get some kind of a warm up as he suggests. I don't just head out for my run, I do either my push ups, pull ups and core, or just core by itself immediately before the run, and it's all pretty high intensity. I've worn my HRM on occasion during these and my HR always gets up to at least Z2. Whether I'm doing all, or just core, it takes me a little over 10 minutes to complete the entire routine, so by the end I've broken a good sweat. If you are interested in my routine, I'll post it for you to try. This is stuff I came up with on my own because I wanted some kind of strength training, but I don't want to spend hours doing it.

Now, for the Garmin. Anyone else have anything like this happen? The watch died on me with 38% left. I got back home and plugged it in and that's what it said was left. I tried turning it on and it will only stay on for about a minute before giving a battery low warning and then turning off again. This happened once before, when it was brand new, but I can't remember the steps I took to get it to shut off at a lower %. Any suggestions? Oh, I've got the 310xt.

Good morning, TEAM!

x: Thanks for posting details on your "quick mile." Glad you did, as it shows that although a quick mile is good and can keep the legs firing, it also should be eased into or, better yet, preceded with a warm up that gets your heart pumping and muscles aligned. Nicely done. And thank you!

5 mile trail run early this dark morning with one other. First 30 minutes was lit only by headlamps. We chose a more mild trail system since we knew it would be dark. Quite enjoyable, really. I even discovered a new trail to try with my microspikes once the snow flies.

4 mile run with J, R and A who is up from FL for the week for work. 2 minutes faster than last week's pace. It was a great run and I feel really good. Overall though the company was awesome and we plan to continue to keep the group alive as long as weather cooperates. This Thursday morning running has been one of the long term best things I got out of IMAZ training.

Recovery day for me. I slept in this morning (until 5 am) and will get a very easy 30 to 45 min on the exercise bike followed by some core and upper body work.

3 mile run on the tm fib going back to school to pick up DS from basketball practice. One of the other mom's waiting for the end of practice excitedly told me that she had just registered for her first ever HM. She was so excited and it was quite contagious. Our ensuing conversation got me really fired up about running and racing. I've missed that level of excitement. Good stuff!

6.5 miles - at the last minute, I decided to start the speed work per the Daniel's running formula. I think I have about 14-15 weeks to a target marathon. So, period 2 (after base building, not quite the 50mpw base I was hoping to build due to the groin concerns). His plan incorporates "I" pace intervals. So, 4x1000m with 3 min rest. The target was 4:21(6:58 pace). The actual was 4:09, 4:14,4:15,4:16. Considering the hard biking and wind, I'm good with this solid workout. Good start. Haven't decided to stick with his plan all the way or follow something else. Would love to build to 60mpw+. Will see how it goes.

Was hoping to swim, but DS got called in for participating inthe documentary film about the Tae Kon Do, so here I am stuck at the sports club.
