Fun: unloading a glaze kiln. I might take pics today, might not. And then I'll be spending the day knitting - have to finish Momoleenie's neck gator, and I want to finish a cowl for me.

That's pretty much my day. HA.

Good morning!

(((Clare)))

(((Baby Grayson))) I hope his recovery continues. So cool that you saw the Governator, KJ!

Hope the meds help Allie Kate, Missy! How has your return to work been?

(((Moe))) Hope your mom is able to go home for Christmas!

Saw the owl scarf and totally love it, Kath! Oh, and yay for you!!! That's awesome!

Fun: Winter break started at 2:50 for me yesterday! I went to a nice happy hour with some of the other people from my department.

Not fun: I've been up since 4:30 am. My neck is still killing me. I'm hoping to get in to see the doc today.

Completely and utterly awesome: One of the kids I work with, who, on a daily basis tells me how much he hates me, looked me in the eye and told me he'll miss me over break. It totally melted my heart.

Welcome Gretriever!!! If you don't mind me asking, where in Maine are you? I grew up spending my summers in the Lewiston/Auburn area.

morning all.

I had to have a little sleep in this morning after our going away/holiday party last night. The little girl bartender we had apparently didn't know how to make an old fashioned so I basically got a glass of whiskey with a shot or 2 of white soda in it. Yikes!

I have just a bit of shopping to finish up and then I will be on my way home for the weekend!!

it most definately was not an old fashioned. What sucks is there are very few places around Madison that make them decent and really that's the only drink I order consistantly. Where my parents live though that's all anyone drinks. My dad and brothers make the aboslute best old fashioneds. mmmmm boooze

(((Ecca's neck)))--great kid story. I've had a really tough semester and one kid in my HorribleClassFromGehenna said he wanted to take another class of mine if I taught it. !!!!! I almost fell over. The grades had been posted, too. Literally the worst class I've ever taught--collegiate level students who acted like 4 yr old's. I was pretty much a Drill Sergeant by the end of it focusing more on how they should behave around other people than reading. What I learned from this, however, is that we assume what college students know, but some are truly never taught basics or held to ant academic expectation. "No, it's not OK to get up in the middle of class and just change your shirt or do whatever you want. It's disruptive...leave...." "Don't call me 'girl'--I'm not A girl, I'm not YOUR girl". "Grades are based on objective measures of learning, not just your ability to perform slam poetry." :D

Wippi--eww. Doesn't an old fashioned have sugar in it??

Gre--good answers. Like the Radiohead references but we need to work on your beer selection. :) I'm originally from Wippi's neck o' the woods, too.

Yes. And bitters. And a twist. And it's about the oldest cocktail there is, and should be one of the first drinks a bartender learns. So says a former bartender.

Fun: working from home on a quiet day. I've had only one call and two emails to respond to.

Not fun: Taking the dogs (in their carrying taxis) to the vet for overdue nail trims. Pippin cried like a schoolgirl (Schooldog?) the whole way. He's such a wuss.

Fun: Seeing a BEAUTIFUL 9 month old brindle colored German Shepard at the vet's. He was already about 90 lbs.

Not fun: Said GS was in no mood for pettings. He was terrified (shaking). Once he calmed down, he growled at me, after his owner said it was okay to approach. (His owner scolded him at least)

Fun: Vet tech & her hubby loaded my critters in my car for me, gave me a hug, told me "Merry Christmas", and said there was no charge for today's services. Woohoo! Apparently those brownie bits I brought to them last week were remembered. :)

Not fun: My florescent kitchen light is still acting funky.

Fun: A friend is coming over this afternoon to change out the light fixture. No more strobe light effect!

Heh.. I have to snicker on all the alcohol discussion. I have no clue what any of the drinks mentioned above are. I'm such a drinking noob!

Good vibes continue to go out to Grayson and AK, and their families as well.

she had a bit of regression b/c the doc had us reduce the original med she was on but shes back on the original dose in addition to the new one. the past two nights shes literally been up every 45 mins - 1.5 hours. its been beyond painful but at least my mom is able to take her during the day so i can sleep.

my return to work was wonderful. it was great to be back and also to have some time outside of the house (and, as horrible as this sounds, some time away from AK's fussiness). i just need a change of scenery and adult interaction - and it was nice just feeling somewhat normal again. thanks for asking!

Morning peeps.

I have very very very good news!!!!! My mother is getting her treatment today and going home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to see her after work yesterday and while she's a little wacky...she's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. I went to see her last night and she was up, dressed, wanted to take a walk, ate her supper and we laughed a lot about stuff that made sense. Thank goodness. I swear...she is Methuselah. Or Lazarus.

(don't get me wrong...I know her time is finite, but that she's getting to go home is wonderful. We'll cross other bridges when we get to them.)

In other news...I am wearing a totally fabulous fun scarf I bought the other day when i was christmas shopping . I can't even exactly explain it...but it's sort of crocheted and ruffled and great colors and it was sorta $ at Marshalls (meaning $25 but retail WAY more.) Plus I'm wearing red and while striped tights.

Welcome gretreiever!

Apparently we have a few things in common:

1) I auditioned for Jeopardy and passed the test but never made it on air either.

2) my birthday is July 27

3) apparently we both have golden retrievers??

4) Tony Shaloub's sister in law lives in my 'hood in Boston

(((((((((((((((((((((vibes to Grayson)))))))))))))))))))))))) continued healing, baby boy!

Kath, I <3 the owl scarf!

OK, I'm sorta holiday cheerful at the moment, but...

I'm really really disgruntled that I have to work during intercession. The university is closed. We've been told that there won't be hot water or even much heat in the buildings. The cafe and restaurant is closed here. We have to come in because there is work to be done for a presidential prospect trip in January, but no one is getting us the prospect list in advance, so we haven't really been able to do a lot of work up front. I'm actually getting more and more angry about it.

Hi all - yesterday was a lot of waking up late (no, Kris and I are at my parents' house - don't let any any of THOSE thoughts get into your mind heh ), catching the IMAX version of Tron: Legacy (pretty good) and meeting up with Muzicgrl and Antag from the PRT over some yummy burgers.

Not much today really - maybe a little bit of last-minute shopping, and possibly going out for a run together along one of my usual routes over here.

Thanks so much for all the hugs, you guys. I knew I could count on your kindness. : )

Maureen, that's great news!

Welcome, Gre!

It's so nice Bard and Moon get to spend some time together!

I just had a lovely Christmas lunch with my mom and sister. It was free, put on by a local business. So very yummy and festive. Nice to see all the smiling faces, too.

We've gotten so much wind and rain over the last couple of weeks. I swear I saw an ark being built in our back yard. I'm so tired of it and I'd love to see some sun.

Lady E is doing quite well. I took her to my sister's last night for homemade chicken soup and she scoffed it down. Her mouth is healing up so fast, it's amazing. Babies really are something else.

It's been far too long since I've seen a katholeenie hat pic.

I need to go back and read the past couple days threads. I have some catching up to do.

Not Fun: I have to close the office at 5 tonight. bah. But that means I can take a longer lunch and go to the gym without feeling so hurry-up-rushed.

Fun: The next 5 days off. Then work two days. Then three days off. Niiiiiiice.

More Fun: Seester Goon and her family arrived last night and will be here until Sunday.

I'm pretty much ready for Christmas. Everything is purchased and wrapped. How about everyone else? Ready or not?
