A cool, crisp 60F this morning. Still couldn't run fast. Anyway, ran to gym, did some weights, ran home. 8.25 miles.

On the way back a young buck (BBS's heart skips a beat) was bounding through the woods next to me. Cool.

Morning...

RA - Nice early morning saga. Did you ask the buck what he's training for?

Coolish 54 again here. Rather nice. Out for 40 minutes in 60.

RA- I let the young bucks walk, but I really enjoy watching them.

Dan- Good luck on that 40. Is that the longest time since your return?

Kevin- Enjoy the rest

I maybe in Kevins boat. I'd really like to run since its in the 60's outside, but I got forced to go in early tonight, and we have some people cutting a couple of trees down in our yard, and they're here right now kinda blocking me. If I do get out, it'll be something easy again, 3 or so, I want to be injury free for a lil while, and my run yesterday was a little tuff for just an easy 3. Quads still acting up

Kevin - Have a good core workout

BBS - Wise decision. Yes, 40 minutes is the longest. I plan to stay with time vs. mileage till I hit an hour. Helps me not get carried away with having to run a certain distance.

Very smart vash! Even though I have hit an hour of running, I am focused more on time rather than by miles during the week (except for long runs and speed work, those don't count.) Hope you have a great run.

Enjoy the rest Kevin and BBS.

Sounds like a great morning RA.

Fitness test for me this morning: mile repeats. Last test was 6 weeks ago and today's workout showed neither improvement nor loss which is probably good considering I haven't done any speedwork between the two tests except for my track session last week. Times were all sub-7:00 which is good for me, I'd like to bring that down to the 6:40 range by the end of this cycle if I can.

Dan - good luck with the 40, smart plan with doing it by time

kfuller - have a good rest

BBS - take it easy, and hope you get unblocked :)

Sweet run. Since I missed my weekend race as well as track last night, I figured on a tempo run or tempo intervals this morning. My perceived effort level for 6:40 mpm pace resulted in 7:20 mpm pace. My typical easy pace is around 8 mpm but lately that level of effort is giving 8:30 mpm. This is not good. Still, at least I found I can still do squats on an inverted bosu ball. Anyway, time to back off the miles for a week.

PT again this morning. Just ultrasound and massage. Still trying to get rid of the scar tissue. Also, because the one calf muscle was injured, the other took over, causing a strain there, too. He's thinking that with aggressive stretching I should be able ot get it from here on out.

From there, son1 and I headed out for an easy spin. I was actually glad I had my arm warmers! Our usual 60min loop. Unremarkable.

Jill -- Hey speedy! Nice job on those repeats.

zrun -- Well done on the 11. So, a la Jill's question, how long is Sunday? Inquiring minds wanna know . . .

jd -- Could use some of that weather here. Nice job.

4boys -- Hope the PTs helping some.

Me -- Supposed to be 103 here today. No matter for me, as I'm heading to SF for business. Last night's 15 with no calories was a slog, but got it done. 7 recovery later today.

The hamstring felts fine this morning, but I've been driving to meetings a lot the last couple of days and still have a dull ache at the hip that radiates down the leg while driving or sitting for long periods of time, running doesn't seem to bother it. I also have some bruising at the inside of my lower hamstring near the knee which is not where there hamstring pain was to begin with. This is the same pattern from when it happened in April. Very weird, and I think it is all interrelated, with the working theory being that lack of hip flexibility is the root of it all. Hoping for 18-20 Sunday morning.

6 miles today. It was dark, but due to the full moon it was bright out, so that was cool. I am trying hard to start running 6 miles a day instead of 5. I gotta get my miles up for December.
