Great to see Robin yesterday, now where is Dale?

What lovely weather today, it's stopped raining and it's just delightful. The forecast for the next few days is the same.

2 miles this morning.

I'm sorry about that Choove. The dead battery always seems to occur at a time you least expect it and really need the car.

We have had a hugh break in the temps, so much so that I am freezing my butt off by comparison to what it's been like. Ran an easy 11 yesterday and today was supposed to be 5 slow, but again it was in the mid-70's so I did 6 at easy pace. Felt just super. Flex and core work at the Y afterwards.

All packed and ready to head to Pittsburgh for a one-day meeting. Tomorrow morning at 5:30 I'll run from the Marriott along the Allegheny River to that old submarine that is berthed there and back again, a 3 mile run. Spareribs

Hi Choov, Hally and Ribs.

Cool weather here today (71) at lunchtime and just great for running in. The humidity is still a bit high, but who cares. Great to get out and enjoy the last few days of summer around here.

I was supposed to run 5 miles including 3 miles easy, but the 3 easy miles came at a much faster than easy pace (8:05 - 8:35) - 7:40 / 7:42 / 7:33. So I probably just cost myself a sub 21:00 finish in Saturday's 5k, but it's not a target race; I knew I was going too fast (even though it felt easy) by about the first 1/2 mile, and that it will cost me on Saturday....but who cares.

Take it as it comes.

Hi everyone,

I had a pretty miserable 2 mile run this morning around the condo complex. The temperature was great but the humidity was high.....I don't think that was the problem, I think it was just not enough sleep and stuff like that. Oh well. I got it done and that's the important thing, and hopefully tomorrow will be better.

These stoopid mortgage people are making me jump through a lot of hoops. Now they want me to increase the insurance on the contents of our condo, and I just don't see the reason why. We have next to nothing of value -- all "early american relative" furniture, 2 small TVs, etc. Probably the most valuable things are our 2 dogs (not show dogs) and my enormous collection of running shoes in various states of disrepair. Just another bump in the process but I shall persevere, most likely with additional gray strands but that's not important.

crappy battery choovie. bty, just hammer that 5k and don't worry about residuals from today's workout; if you want sub-21, go get it!

had some great luck this morning... late run, but it was only 80f and drizzly... a big-a$$ thunderstorm is perched just west of tucson, and it sat there for the whole morning, giving us low temps, nice drizzle and cloud shade.

11mi with a ridiculous hill workout: 4 times (6 min hard up, 2 min rest, 2:30 hard down, 1 min rest, 2:30 hard down, 1 min rest). ran it on my road, since it climbs about 130 feet over 1 mile... with some steeper parts and some flatter parts for a good mix. averaged near 6:55 pace going up, and 6:15 pace going down. 2mi warmup, 1mi warmdown and i was toast by the workout's end.

Hi folks!

My, it's quiet here today!

You know tomorrow will be better, Susan! I've come to expect the crappy workouts and don't overanalyze them as long as the overall trend stays heading the right way.

Too bad about the battery, Choovie!

Greta run on the Equinox course, Erika! That's one hell of an elevation profile!

XT, strength and stretching today in the work gym in anticipation of 3 days running in a row. We're heading into another hot bit of weather..... perhaps summer's last kick at the can?

Stay cool & enjoy your day!

Oh things are slow here. The perfect time to leave a ...

Race report:
5th overall. Small race. Won a T-shirt.

Real story. My goal/estimate was pretty accurate. There were 3 racers and a bunch of wannabes. So I came in 2nd in the wannabe category.

Mile 1 7:04, then 7:27 ave for the rest. 22:44 total and 7:20 pace. My prediction was 7:15. But I count it as close because there were two hills that had an effect.

Ave HR 178. Once I was stuck in the gap I ran at 180, which I considered comfortable for racing. If I was ready for tolerating pain I should have been able to take 4th. He passed me on an uphill and I just never went after him. The 3 runners were gone from the start. Winner was 19:57. So someday I should be able to run with him.

I'm wearing contacts for the first time today, after 20+ years in glasses. My eyes still feel weird (pupils are dilated), so I can't tell yet, but I think I will like contacts much better.

congrats Craig!! I certainly would never call you a wannabe runner though.

Yep, slow day here but busy day for me at work and I have nothing to report anyways. I have tomorrow off work so plan on getting in a run in the a.m. Part of my run with my son, dressed in his football gear, and then a few more solo miles after that.

Woohoo! A cggir race report! That's been a long time in coming. Good for you!

So Millbot, what was the nudge to go for the contacts? Just curious. I don't think I've ever met anyone who says "I sure wish I could go back to wearing glasses!"

That sucks about the dead battery, Choovie, but I sure wouldn't mind the Plan B option. I keep saying I'm going to take time off this summer and then I rarely do it. And I'm running out of summer faster than most of you!

After yesterday's hill run, I thought my legs would be toast. And while they were tired, they warmed up and got into the groove of a lunchtime run today. Started easy, and progressed to faster (8:04), but that's cuz the return trip is kinda downhill. Felt good to be out there in the sunshine, forecast is for a rainy weekend. Of course! I have a 5k trail race Saturday morning and 24 miles on the trail scheduled for Sunday!

There are people coming out of the woodwork. I even saw Enkephalin! Pro, awesome racing!

3 miles easy and I was reminded how Irunmike says to enjoy the gift. Was it any coincidence that out of all the running shirts I could have grabbed out of the pile, it was the Knoxville one? I think not. So Ted, I will raise a beer in your honor but no nachos.

This wasn't on my plan so now I have some 'splaining to do to Brooke.
