I'll be in search of a 5 miler today. Last night was a chilly track workout. I ended up going a bit faster than my planned 1:30 but it was all good. I tend to ease up before the finish so they could have been a touch faster. Finished with a bit over 7 miles with WU/CD. Anyway, the 400s went as follows:

Set 1: 1:28, 1:26, 1:26, 1:27, 1:27
Set 2: 1:27, 1:27, 1:26, 1:25, 1:24

BBS - thanks for the tip. Hope you had/have fun on the trail.

Good morning BBS, RA and Kevin.

Great job on the 5 RA. Those splits are so consistent.

BBS, I can't wait to hit the trails on Saturday.

I'll head out this afternoon for about 75 minutes of running. Hope the rain holds off.

Running in circles today. Today was the day to see if I could hold race pace. WU felt like crap, but first few laps I checked I was holding a steady 2:15. 1.5m @ 13:27. Then, it was time to get down to business. Haven't even seen the data, so here we go... 2:06, 2:05, 2:04, 2:05, 2:05, 2:06, 2:07, 2:06, 2:06, 2:05. CD 1m @ 8:43. Didn't feel too bad, but can I hold a skosh faster for 13.1m???

No time to think. Got home and had to take son1 to class. Quick glance at Facebook and found out that a friend got towed this morning, so I'll need to take her to get her car. She's having an ultrasound this afternoon to find out if she's having a boy or girl, so she can't miss that! Son2 has a guitar lesson this afternoon. Then, bible study this afternoon. Why do I feel like I"m still running in circles??? Busy day, but I'm good with it!

I did take the hound for a stroll yesterday. First half he was pulling me. You got it--second half I was dragging him! It did feel good to get out there. And, hate to admit it, I DID see the signs for towing today. Never dawned on me that my friend parks there...

BBS--nice trail run!

Asics--those are some smokin' hot numbers.

fuller--enjoy the rest

Jill--hopefully the beautiful sunny weather we have will blow your way!

7.5 in the Arboretum this morning, keeping it very easy on the hills. Hmm, Bulls game tonight and agreed to meet up at 6:30am for a run tomorrow morning, good thing it will be a short one.

BBS - nice job on the trails, hope work goes quick.

RA - way to start out the track season, sounds like you are in good shape for the weekend! I went to the warm up for the first track workout around here tonight with my kids and did some easy 400s with the younger. We haven't done much in the way of preparation for Saturday's mile (or his older brother's 5k) but all for fun anyway.

Kfuller - have a good rest

Jill - hopefully you'll get our weather from the last few days and stay dry

4boys - great job on the half test, have a good one

5 miles on the work TM. Same as yesterday.

4boysmom - I think you need a PA to help with your hectic schedule!

Jill - enjoy the mile-less minutes

kfuller - are trashing my legs for a week, I'm very conservative with squats and lunges. However; I noticed on the track that my lower legs were holding me back rather than cardio. That makes sense with all the slower "just miles" running over the winter. One of my buddies even noted that I wasn't out of breath during the recovery. Now, I need to strengthen my lower legs some more.

zrun - nice job in the trees. If I lived closer, I'd be running there too. I'm hoping for a decent 8k on Sunday.

Hi everyone. I've really been in a slump lately. All my runs have been 1, 2, 3 or 4 miles. I need to just make myself go out and do more, because I know it will make me feel lessed stressed.

Mr jebba has been working insane hours lately, and will be working insane hours for the next two weeks, so I've been almost single parenting lately. I feel confident that when things settle down, my mojo will come back.

Had to dial back today -- 3 miles. Might have ben better if I had just done some lifting, as I just didn't have any juice after yesterday's "long" run (for my current standards).

Nice day, though.

Good afternoon all,

Still super busy at work, have way more to do than time to do it. But I still got out at lunchtime today and aired it out.

I modified last night's club track workout (8 x 600) and did 8 x 2:30 fartlek-style on the roads. Tough workout. Considering I raced Sunday I probably should have stopped at 6 but of course since the workout said 6-8 x 600 I was too stubborn to back down once I was committed.

After a 1.25M or so warmup, I did the first rep a little slow on purpose, 6:25/mile pace, then hit the next 5 at around 6:15 pace. Felt the wheels falling off on #7 -- 6:25 pace. But dug deep on the last one and ran about 6:19 pace. As with any fartlek run, I also didn't let the recovery paces slip as much as I do on the track. I was pretty much doing them at 8:00-8:30 pace rather than an 10:00/mile jog. 7.6 miles total at 7:32 pace for the whole thing...that tells you it all.

Definitely a recovery day is in store tomorrow.

Looks like a lot of people are throwing some serious workouts down today. Nice.

Bit of a milestone, albeit an unforseen one. 20 minutes on the dreadmill and then kicked off. It being 2c (36f) and I only clad in light running gear I ventured out and ran 1.8 km without stopping due to circulation issues. Felt comfrortable. Perhaps this weekend I'll venture into my hilly neighbourhood if it is ice free.

Well, I got home from work and it was still daylight (love those longer days) with very pleasant weather conditions, so I just couldn't resist the urge to head out for a second run of the day. Just a very slow shakeout jog on the neighborhood 5k course. 10.7 for the day, not too bad.
