Bike commute in - 17 miles; same commute home if no rain (otherwise I'll hitch a ride).

My legs are toast from the quick mileage ramp-up. Had a pick-me up on the way home yesterday tho' ... someone blew by me going up hill (chugging up at about 13 mph) - so I grabbed his tail and managed to hang on for a nice 20-ish pace for 4-5 miles ... It felt surprisingly easy after the struggle.

Things looking pretty bleak at work. Where's Dandy Don when you need him?

After a crazy night of wild weather and lots of interrupted sleep I managed to drag my ass out of bed for the regular Thursday run.

Rabbit is out of town apartment hunting so I was on my own.

Plus, I think I'm fighting something off.

So, I didn't really know how it would turn out today.

Turns out, it turned out ok. :)

4 miles @ 11:15 pace overall.

The hills still slow me down, but not quite as much as before, and my energy output is more regular.

The downhills are quicker, though, so that's cool.

Good morning, TEAM LIT!

EmCo: Nice to hear about the swim coming along, you fast and strong crazy swimmer :)

Scott: Let us know how the hip flexor feels today. Good luck with that. Maybe use Google to look up exercises.

4 mile slow, easy run early this morning. Very sluggish to start due to this being "hill immersion week," and I'm feeling it. Just a filler run, so no worries.

Great day!

Enjoying the taper for the time being...next week I'll get the taper crazies, so I'm trying to just enjoy the reduced mileage. 4 mile easy run today - half with the pooch, half solo. Looking forward to a DOR tomorrow...my hammies are sore from yesterday's stroller push.

Reg- So you commute both ways, 17 miles each way, every day? Way to go!!!!

Me- it's probably going to end up being a DOR. DS has his senior presentation this afternoon and then we need to get him packed for his trip to Orlando. He has to be up and to the airport early enough that I will actually get to see the royal wedding live.

Well ... usually it's 17 in and 11-ish home, but a bridge is being repaired on the short route back.

The sudden uptick has been due to loaning my car to some friends for 4 days ... Otherwise I probably wouldn't have started until mid-May or so. Still ... good to get an early jump on the season - even if it hurts .

Jen - enjoy your taper. Hard work is done.

Back in town and to work. Kids are still off school so nowhere near to the 'normal' routine. We had a great time in Cleveland, visiting the beautiful Botanical Garden, Rock&Roll Hall of Fame, Science Center, and lots of hiking in the Cuyahoga National Park including doing quests.

7miles fartrek today to/from the pharmacy. Wanted to ride but the trail would have been muddy due to a huge storm this morning. I still don't feel like resuming 'training'.... Need to go for a swim, but I am not strongly motivated right now. oh well.

Thanks Thor. Its tight but seems ok. Though I've only swam today and I plan to do a easier bike on my trainer tonight (technique work). I'm leaving tomorrow for a training camp in Eddyville Kentucky. Friday through Sunday I will probably log 9-10 hours on the bike, and about 4.5 hours running and 2 hours of OW swimming. Biggest weekend ever, but hey its a camp :) Of course if it hurts, I'll do less. There is a massage person there so I'm going to have them work on it at least twice. Hopefully I get out of there in one piece, it should be fun times though.

AM Swim: 3200m

WU: 8 x 100

4 x 150 pull, ri 10s

MS 4 x (200 threshold pace, 2 x 50 fast as possible, 100kick)

CD 200 easy.

Bike later about 90 minutes. Technique work, SLDs and stuff, warming up for the weekend.

40 min on the bike.. My right hammy is NOT happy and I could even fell it on the bike. Nothing to train for - at least not today - so I think I'm going to take it easy a bit. I did a few intervals and boy are my bike legs gone.
