Hi KS and the late night posters Erika and Happyfeat. I somehow started running mornings so no more staying up until 2 or 3 am.

I got my speedwork in this morning. I did 1:00 fast with 2:00 recovery but the recovery was still at 7:30 pace. I did a progression on the fast parts starting at 6:31 pace and ending up at 5:46 pace all at 2% incline. Total was 8.21 miles in 60:00 and I was too tired to do a cool down to get my 9 miles in. I might do a 3 or 4 mile easy run this evening outside to test out my new garmin.

Yes, ks, the local runners are all over the place getting ready for Boston. I think the wether is warming up just in time too.

5 EZ recovery yesterday, then today I did 2 for a w/u and then 6 at tempo, 7:58. Good workout, felt strong at the end.

That bike seems to suit you Opie. Are you thinking tri sometime near the end of summer? When do you start running again?

Hi Mike. I can't run until I see the doc on the 25th. I'm thinking du, not tri, because I suck at swimming but I do love cycling. There's one in July. Another option would be a 50 or 100-mile tour. Another option would be to get back into trail running and see if that makes my foot happy. Some trails would be less of an impact, but others I'm not so sure about with rocks and roots. I had to cut Brooke loose so I'm drifting without her anchor on racing goals.

Hi gang!

Opie, the roots and the rocks demand agility to miss them..... you're not supposed to run ON them.

Nice tempo Mike.... you training for something in particular.

Yay, Rip finally emerging into the sunshine!

5.2 miles SEP after work. I think I need to start doing some hill work once a week...... I'm going longer than ever but my strength has taken a bit of a beating with all the easy miles.

I did see the sun a little today while I was roofing. I just finished up doing about 10 sq over the last two days. My roofing muscles are really out of shape so I'm too tired to try to run outside today. Now I am seeing a forecast for 80° for my race on sunday!!

Heme, I was thinking the same thing about the trails. One of the reasons I like trails is the challenge of foot placement! I know what Opie means though, as one bad step under that affected metatarsal and I'm walkin' home.

(had to just submit, then go back and edit...)

Ahhh, the Boston excitement. I miss it, for sure. Will be interesting to watch from afar this year. But, three years in a row was enough, at least for now.

Last night's run was fun, even with the wind. Would've been nice to get 10 miles in, but oh well. Tonight I was going to do like Heme and Mike with an easy 5 miler, but in the last hour we've had a snow storm move in, and the forecast is for 1-3 inches! WTH?? I'm more than done with this nonsense. And my treadmill is out of commission still. Crap. Might have to just bag it tonight and run tomorrow. Really don't want to do that though. Grrr.

Baba - I meant to comment on your recent 6'er. That was nice to read.

Heme - I guess I'm training for the Boston Run To Remember, a half on Memorial Day. I'm really just coming out of the reverse taper from the full and half I did in March.

Another 8 miles tonight w/ 4 X .75 miles imbedded w/ .25 recoveries. Goal was 6:20 to 6:25 pace. 80 degrees and blustery 20 mph winds. 6:26; 6:26; 6:31; and 6:44. Last one all against the wind. I'm happy and averaged 7:24 pace oa.

Baba - I too meant to congrat you on the 6 miler. You are making progress.

Opie - I've run that trail race around Lake McCurty (SP?) near Stillwater, OK

KS, they just had that trail "race."

Erika, I think you need less snow and we need less heat this early. Our A/C is out but will be replaced next week.

No workout for me today. DD is a National Honor Society officer and they had their induction ceremony. If I'm smart I would get up early tomorrow and go for a ride to get my body ready for Sat. morning but we'll see.

Don't forget, "It's a ride, not a race."

8 miles in 90 degree heat this evening during my run. This seals the deal, I'm not training for any fall marathons this summer. Opie, I'll be joining you on the bike rides starting in May.
