I finally wrote up a Race Report for my 50k, with a few BobCam shots, of course. But not too many, because it was just raining too damn much. Long boring report, as always...

Wow - horrible to read about all the rough weather. Hope everyone is okay.

Rest day for me. Thank goodness! Work cranked up like crazy yesterday (of course) and I will have a big day of scrambling to get everything done before we leave tomorrow (plus I have GOTR tonight, so I cannot stay at the office until 9 like last night). Oooof. Wish me luck. I got up at 5 to get work done which is not ideal during taper week, but whatev. I am super excited and thanks everyone for the well wishes! I haven't been this cranked up for a race in a long time! PLUS, I am so looking forward to travelling with my boys! We are going to have a blast.

(Wow - i am way too fired up for this time of day....)

Hey, I'll solicit some opinions here... I'm turning 40 on a Sunday in a few weeks. I found some local 5k races that weekend. There's one on Saturday and one on Sunday. That means I can do one while I'm still in the M35-39 Age Group, or I can do one while I'm in the M40-44 group. Or I could do both, I suppose. (Doing both would mean I won't be at my best, of course). It would seem like there's an advantage to being the youngest guy in the Age Group, as opposed to the oldest guy. But the 40s are always a lot more competitive than the 30s. I have no idea what either race is like, so I very well might not have a prayer of placing in either race. Hell, I don't even know what kind of advice I'm asking you guys for. I'll probably just run both of them. I'll go all out in the Saturday race, and then go all out with whatever I have left in the Sunday race. And thus I'll see if I can start off my first day in my 40s by blowing out a knee or something...

Bob - I'd say do both, just because you can!

3 miles total for me this morning, with a mix of running, jogging and walking, some on the treadmill and some on the track with J. The schedule says rest tomorrow and Saturday. I guess it's that time!

Bob - both

Intended to run 7 after work but I had to go to the bathroom about 2 in, decided to run up to a strip mall I knew of and then thought that added about .75 or so. Well, after it was all said and done, I got 9.2 in and it was way faster than I intended and on hills. Felt pretty good.

Good morning. I had my last run today before the 10k on Saturday. The weather is supposed to be great on Saturday so that is good. Tomorrow is supposed to be a total rest day ala the Higdon plan.

Congrats Tim.

Morning all! Going to get my miles in later today w/a good chance of being soaked through and through while doing so. It's warm though so I don't mind the rain.

Brandy - nice! The longer run not the required bathroom trip

boB - both. Done & done.

Good run, Brandy!

Bob, definitely do both. How cool to race in two different age groups on consecutive days!! How often will that happen?

3x1600 for me after work. Might have to be on the treadmill (bleh) due to thunderstorms that are supposed to hit in about an hour and last through the rest of the day.

GOOD LUCK, RACERS!!!! I probably won't be online tomorrow or this weekend.

boB - all I'll say is you never know with these things. I remember during the 4-miler I did with my brother on the 4th of July last year, we ended up first/second place in our "AG" (I put that in quotes because they didn't have AG awards). However, those times would've barely eked us into the Top 10 among the 50-59 males.

I just say go out and have fun at one or both races if ya' wanna

I just picked up my 10k packet. Getting a lil excited. The packet also mentions a 5k in August. That would be a great chance to break my pr and get under 30 minutes both at the same time. I've only run one 5k and I was barely in condition to finish and my time was not good. heheh

I received a follow up e-mail today and I had to chuckle a little:

"Welcome to the 16th Annual Double Decker Spring Run, set for this Saturday, April 30! The weather is forecasted to be 79 and clear, perfect weather for a GREAT race!"

Erm 79 degrees in the humid South is NOT perfect weather. ROFL Thankfully the weather channel forecast for Saturday at 7:30 am is for 55 degrees and that will be awesome. 55 beats 79 for running any day.
