Recovery run tonight...air temp right now at -15. Should be the last day of arctic temperatures though. I hope they are right.

Good morning Alex. Enjoy your run tonight and I hope the temps start warming up for you...

Was adventurous this morning -- did 58 minutes on the trails and deviated from my normal route. I finally found a map of the mountain bike trails that I run -- I knew I was only staying on a small portion of the trail system, but did not realize just how much I was missing - wow!

Anyway, the map helped a bit, but I still got pretty lost. The trails are very labyrinthine and the map is out of date so many of the trails are not even on there (including large parts of the route that I have been running all this time). Just when I thought I was really lost, I found myself on some familiar trails.

This morning, I was sporting a fashion statement even more striking than the beardcicle - the bloodcicle! Apparently I got a bloody nose without even noticing it and the blood froze along with everything else in my beard.

The funny thing is that when I went into the gym to shower after my run, I got no reaction from the guys at the front desk. Here I am looking like I just savaged someone and all I get is a normal "good morning"!

Good mornin'

Alex, stay warm.
loopy, oh my!

A morning report from this night time runners. Got an hour easy planned for tonight. The string of cold days has not ended, so I might run at the gym. We'll see.

Last night I went for my run at 8:30p with hopes to see the eclipse. It was overcast and I kept straining my neck to look towards the cloud-covered moon. Too cold to stand around, I finally resigned myself to non-viewing. But as I was finishing up my run, around 9:30p, the skies cleared and I was treated to a brilliant view of the moon and a awesome field of stars. The eclipse looked like a glowing and shaded marshmallow. Amazing.

loopy--too funny! The other day I was running into some pretty serious winds. It was cold, so my nose was running. Not sure if I had a snot rocket that failed to launch or just snot that blew back, but I got back to the gym with snot all over my face. When I get back from a run, I stretch on the steps in the lobby. Usually hte guy at the front desk will chat with me. That day was like any other. Except, when I got to the locker room I realized I had several 'snail trails' all over my face! Do people not see it or choose not to say anything?!

No swim/run for me this morning. Son and I will head out for a ride early this afternoon. More snow coming in later. I'm about DONE with winter!!!

Good morning everyone. Not sure if I will run my scheduled 5 today. The air quality is suppose to be terrible today, but tomorrow it is going to be better. So I might wait till tomorrow to run the 5 and then run 8 on Saturday. That is the plan for now. Have a great morning everyone.

Good Day all:
Four miles today. A good run. Real good, relative to late efforts. I am hoping this is the start of my re-emergence from energy hibenation.

4BM's snow hits this area Friday night/Saturday morning.

Good runs, all

4BM, funny about chatting with a snot-face. Yeah I can't figure out if they're just being polite or what. I thought it was strange enough to get no reaction from the standard beardcicle -- but this morning's bloody mess was quite a bit worse.

Unfortunately, it did not hit me that I should have taken a picture of myself with my cell phone until after I had already cleaned myself up -- that could have been a great profile pic

Good morning all

1850 meters in the pool this morning. Kevin - Have a good one if you get out there. Be safe.
Baba - Great run.

Alex always used to get pole position before the CR transition. Nice to see that again.

I'm continuing on a basebuilding plan. I originally started in the middle, but that was before my knee troubles. So, I moved back to the start. 2 miles today. I'll probably take care of that in a few hours.

Try to avoid grooming faux pas, everyone and/or have a great workout!

6 easy yesterday. Felt like going more, but I thought I'd rest up for tonight's workout. Looking like 10 or so but actually putting some up-tempo stuff in there for once.

Good morning all,

Chilly day here for the DC area, in the 20s (remember a few days ago when it hit 70?). Apparently we've got freezing rain headed our way later, although the sun's out right now. Depending on what happens, I could be working from home tomorrow.

I've got an easy 10 planned after last night's interval workout. May do it outside this afternoon at work, or go across the street to the GMU treadmills, or do it at home tonight on my own mill. TBD at this point.

Roots - nice eclipse last night. Glad you got to see some of it.

Loopy - sounds like quite the adventure.

Sorry, can't respond to everyone right now, but maybe later.

Morning gang...looks like the lake effect snow stopped and looks partly sunny...(checks weather.com) 22 with 14mph winds...so looks like I will get a chance to run outside at lunch today!

I'm starting to feel a bit better...not 100% but better...and thank you all again for the comments about the pictures. I know that sometimes we all need some motivation, and that picture sure motivated me!

Also, Ellen, thanks for posting the baby & the shoe pic

4bm, I'm with you, done with winter...I have a race in a week and a half and I'm just hopeful that the ice will be off the road by then!

I'll report back post lunch run

Alex - Have a nice one tonight.
Loopy - Your beard story sounds like something my husband would recall!
Roots - LOVE that description of the moon!
Baba - I've seen your times from the past, and you can do it again. Just do it!
Dave - Can you say IRONMAN?
Mom and Kfuller, Mailbox and Billy and Hawk - Have good runs/rides later!
Flobear - Good to hear that you're feeling better!

I have a nice and easy 12 miler on the schedule for today. Could be done at lunch, as my boss is out of town. However, if I don't feel like busting ass to get back to my desk as soon as possible, I might just hang out through lunch and head down to run at 4:00 pm. Either way, I'm pretty sure it will happen.

Check you all later. By the way Phillip is still running, and becoming quite good, actually. He just hasn't posted in a while because he's so busy with school/work/running. Let him know you love him.

Tonya-- I actually was wondering why I have not seen Phillip here for a while. Then I also thought that school was probably keeping him quite busy. Have fun on the 12 miler. Say hi to philip.

Have a great afternoon everyone.

Yes! Now I just need to figure out how I can train for it. Possible next summer or the following. Plus not sure if I can afford it at this point.

My original goal was 2010. But now work schudle during 2010 will not let me train for it.

I am atleast going to attempt an Ironman 70.3 next year at a minimum.

4.25 miles at lunch, moderate pace, wind was mostly at the side the entire time. Did create a small appetite (finally!)

Can I PLEASE have a 40 degree day to run in soon? I know it was warm last Sunday, but it was icing then raining and melting snow together which made it unpassable (?) to run on sidewalks...so please, please, please....40* day soon!
