PHEW little chilly today with a bit of wind. I was in such a hurry I forgot my gloves but after mile 1 the hands were fine. I bet my pace was faster as I wanted to get out of that cool wind.

Cross training tonight to get caught up for the week. Been distracted this week and need to get back on track!

great day of exercising to all!

I don't think I'll have time for a run today...but maybe later on. I still need to pack for me and for the baby and then drive her to my dad's for the weekend (DH is working while I'm away).

I was thinking last night...what do you do after the run? Like, right after? Normally I'd just go to my car and get my dry gear (because I'm a big sweater). But obviously there won't be that option in Philly. I've never been to a big run with so many people before. And my hotel is over 2 miles away. And before the run I'll likely be cold but won't want to have to carry all my extra gear once I'm running and warmed up.

let hank go play in the back yard (better than running around my living room), fix oatmeal or eat some yogurt...or both, shower.
if its really cold, after my shower i might fix a chai or drink some hot water.

If I'm at home, it's usually like this after the run --

1. Go to the glucose meter and check the blood sugar.
2. Inject insulin for the yogurt I will eat.
3. Get yogurt, usually 2 containers.
4. If blood sugar was a bit higher than expected, drink some coffee. If lower, eat yogurt immediately.
5. If blood sugar was much higher than expected, shower first while insulin is getting to work.
6. Shower if I haven't already based upon how I've been eating or not eating or whatever.

If at park after work:

1. Check blood sugar.
2. Inject insulin for yogurt.
3. Eat yogurt.
4. Drive home.

Up way too late last night, and have had little sleep. Got kinda pissy with a good friend for no really good reason, other than being tired and stressed. Oh well, done is done. I emailed an apology this a.m. and we'll also be talking on the phone later.

Anyway, did not get to run yesterday. Wish I had, the cold front came through and it's colder now than it was. May still try for it tonight, just to loosen up my legs before sitting in a car all day driving tomorrow.

Morning, friends--

Not very pleasant out this morning (41*, windy, and aftermath of rain), but I got 3.6 in. Now I'm cold, need to shower, eat breakfast and get some work done. I'm not sure how my Philly performance will go, but I was so stressed out yesterday (fourth college called for a possible interview and I still haven't received official job offer from the first), all I could think was, "I really need to go for a run." Thus, times be damned, being out there is what's important.

clare, I'm going to check a bag, so if you want to share it, maybe we can both put our numbers on it.

Good days, all!

Got out for 12 miles last night. Pace was easy. I almost got boBBed (hit by a car) but it was dark and I was expecting the person to not see me, so I jumped up into the grass from the road, and landed in a giant mud puddle. My feet started to sink like I was in quick sand.

Your bib will have a bag check tag on it - it'll be the same number as your bib number. Bring a bag with you with the number pinned onto it. Then you bring the back to the bag check area sometime before the race. They hold it for you until you come back after the race and show your bib. Sort of like when you store a bag at a hotel.

Might want to also do as Nettie suggested and have some throw-away clothes too. This way you can check your bag early enough and not freeze while standing around waiting for the race to start.
