Hey, the weekend is slowly but surely drawing near...very light practice today and nothing tomorrow! 2 days until the big race...I'm definitely hoping to rest up as much as possible.

Have a great day.

We had a wind storm here in Missouri last night and the wind was still pretty strong this morning when I went out for my run. I completed 10 miles in about 85 minutes. I noticed a weird pain in my right shin. Other than that, this was a pretty typical run (including the dodging of some deer that seemed especially bold).

Throw some ice on that shin!

2 miles easy 17:45 (8:55 & 8:50). Wanted to go faster but wouldn't let myself. First run since the marathon, all is well other than a slightly tight hamstring.

Followed the run up with 80 situps, and 1 set each of 12 reps of biceps, triceps, and overhead presses. Trying to get back into the strength training now a bit.

Cross training day today for me. I took spinning this morning, have taught yoga once (one more time to go) and then will take pilates.

So, jensparks already gave me some feedback, but I can't decide about this week's long run, a 20 miler that I really want to go well. My options are tomorrow afternoon with 2 buddies or Saturday morning solo. Tomorrow afternoon's forecast is low 80s and muggy and possibly cloudy. I have completely wilted and had bad heat problems on the route we'd be doing tomorrow on a sunny muggy 20 miler in the 80s. Saturday's forecast is 60s ... and still muggy. I'd probably go to my favorite path which is more shaded.

I hate to pass at the opportunity to have company...but I should probably go for Saturday, right?

Hey Alex - I will find a computer at disney somewhere and see your results -

There will be a lot of rockets out there - A rocket is someone that starts out way too fast and then flames out before the end of the race. Trust in yourself and do not worry about the rockets. I believe if you run your own race you will find success. Goooooo Alex!

Tomorrow I hope to do a "Long" workout on the ArcTrainer - 80 to 100 minutes.

4 miles on some trails. Only one ankle twisting incident, and I shook it off! The twisting rubbed some dirt on it for me. So the top of my foot is a bit sore, but it was a good day for the run.

SGH, go for the mental toughness because IMO if you run in the heat the company won't help that much. I say this as someone who also prefers company when I run.
