Cross training day here so I forced myself up and out to take spinning at the Y. It was a good workout this morning -- my HR got higher than it usually does.

Before the day's out I'll teach two yoga classes and take a pilates class, too.

My old foot sprain injury seems to be flaring up more than I'd like. So far not during exercise (and I'll do everything I can to keep it that way) but it is really tight and sore in the morning. I am just going to aggressively treat it like PF and hope that will keep it manageable.

Good runs, workouts, and rest days to all!

Go Mr Alex - I am pulling for you to have a great race tonight at 9mile

I wish I could make it, but I will have to wait patiently for the report.

Remember when you hit the 2nd mile and your legs and lungs want to back off - Your mind is in charge - You body will reluctantly obey, but obey it must. Last 1.105 - under 6 minutes of pain - You are in command and will endure!

Great job chosha! Most hotels have some kind of fitness center now, so I hope yours has something

I ran 5 miles yesterday in 51:47 (supposed to be 6 but running buddy didn't have much time, and I wasn't too dedicated ). If I had run all the way up the hill instead of stopping and walking for a minute and a half, I'm sure I could have broken 10 minute miles! Or at least I like to think so But I was sucking wind pretty badly. Someday this run will not be as much of a challenge, I just know it.

Mr. Mikey - no wonder you got injured...you're body was begging for a little variation. You can't run 100+ mile weeks for a few years and not expect that to be enough. This winter we have got to hit up Rib Mt., snowboarding of course. (I don't know if I 'd want to be seen with a skier. Jut kidding everyone...)

Just a bit of walking around before the bus leaves and then at 4:00 it's time to eat my supper. It's probably going to be one of my most painful meals ever, but I am ready and looking forward to it. I'm definitely bringing a dish to pass to everyone who wants some. Muaahahah...I'm very ready.

Good luck Alex!

Rest day today ... and probably tomorrow too ... I can't decide if I like taper or not. I do NOT miss the medium-long runs at 5:30am, that's for sure!

40 more minutes on the ArcTrainer at Lunch

I actually feel good enough to start running today, but thats a good reason not to - If I feel that was for a week straight, I will add some light jogging.

After training all out 4 years with no real time off - I think this is the best thing that could have happened. God knows that I would not have taken any down time by myself, so he gave it to me the hard way.
Awesome time to reflect and start to appreciate how much I have been blessed these 4 years. It is allowing me to get a clear prespective on my life and fitness goals.

6.3 miles in 54:05 total time for an average pace of 8:33. The weather was much better today. 81 degrees and only 35% humidity. Once I got going it was actually a nice day to run.

That was my best pace for a run since July.

7.25 miles with two BFHs at 6PM. Racing the rural darkness. EZ pace but a 1:48 route PR. I feel recovered from last Sunday's marathon already. Must be in better shape than I thought.

I'm such a stud.

Ok here's the short. I did well - not telling how well. When I have time I'll write a report so stay tuned for tomorrow morning, but don't hold your breath. Now is time to hot tub away all my aches and pains and to sleep in as long as I can. Thanks for all the well-wishes, I was thinking of you guys out there.

Yay Alex!

I did 5 miles on the treadmill, and I watch "How it's Made" and saw how they made contacts, which totally surprised me, and how they make sliced bread, which never ceases to amaze me.

All right...Flounder got on my case so here it is.

I felt pretty decent but not really super, duper fresh like I'd hope it would be. Still, nothing was really sore so I had nothing to complain about. Started off up front to get out of the mess. Probably around 20th or so at the half mile, maybe like 15th or so by the mile which was 5:28. I was running hard and not sure if I had went out too hard, plus my forearms were super tight. I definitely tried to shake 'em loose a few times throughout the race. By 1.5 or so I had caught up with the next batch of guys and knew I was in a pretty high spot, but it sucked. I got to the front of the pack and everybody just clung on to me. Even worse, the next guy was way up, so I had nobody nearby to catch. I was grinding away, 2 miles in 11:07 I think, and I finally caught the lone kid with about half mile to go. I had dropped the others by now and it was me right in front of this kid. We went through the winding corners near the end of the race and down a very uneven hill with about 300 to go. He passed me up and I clung on. He turned onto the straightaway and was losing me, but then I realized I didn't come this far to lose like this. I reeled him in and blew by him in extra-overdrive with about 15-20m to go. 6th place in 17:41. New PR and 1st Pittsville boy ever to be 1st Team All-Conference.

Oh and Mike - Granton didn't actually beat us...we were tied and our 6th runner beat theirs yet somehow they have us in 7th...stupid PT Timing.

One guy on our team has been sick recently and ran horribly, and another had nasty sideaches so he ran bad, but everyone else ran anywhere from a 15 to a 40 second improvement. Our girls ran great as well, the #1 got 5th place, and another sophomore got 16th so in guys and girls we had 3 All-Conference runners. Pretty sweet...

Ok seriously now, good night.

dang - nice job Alex!!!

I ran 6.25 today. 5 miles I did solo and the last 1.25 I ran with the 3-4-5th graders at my son's school jog a thon. I should have run my entire run on the track with them. Those last 1.25 miles were far more enjoyable. What a neat bunch of kids they are and I had a good little pace group going during those last 10-12 minutes of the jog a thon.

I bailed on the rain and did a 'mill workout last night. 7.5 miles at 8:00/mile average pace, but I hit various speeds from 6.1MPH to 9.0MPH.
