I've been meaning to post this link since that last bit of bacon talk . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaK9bjLy3v4

Mornin' Pink!

I no longer worry over the sloggy, meh miles as they always prove to be a plus in the end.

Going to take a rest day today instead of cross-training. Had my last PT session on the knee this morning... we figure we know what's triggering this (too wide a stance on the elliptical trainer) and that everything is headed in the right direction, so she's cutting me loose.

Heme, that's great that you have a reason now! So does that mean no more ellipticalling for you? Not the end of the world, I would think... it's not as if you were told you shouldn't run anymore...

Hi Pink, good to have gotten the miles in, yes. Some people have thrown around the notion of "junk miles", but I'm not too sure I believe in that. Miles are miles. As long as you smile. [groan!]

Rest day today. Smile day too.

Good Morning, Pink and Heme, and other running devotees to follow.

I hit the dirt about 6:30 this morn for a zippy 4 (9:02 pace)in 40° darkness. A 3 furlong cool down and 20 min of core work followed.

Nice to have Trips back. Only he can describe runs in furlongs. I'll fine anyone else who tries it.

I am being super careful this week. Yesterday in my hotel in Baltimore, I did a flex workout to start my day but didn't run. On Tuesday I walked a couple of miles and jogged a bit. Today I walked/jogged 2.5 miles but only .75 or so was jogging.

Off to Pittsburgh for a day. Will be glad when this week is over as I am tired. I have no aches or pains though, so I'm feeling pretty good. Spareribs

Take care, Ribs.

Yes, it's nice having JJJ on this side of the Pond. Good ambassador though, we could use more of his type.

6 mile progression run this morning, chilly 50F. 9:20, 8:29, 8:18, 8:14, 8:01, 7:47. I'm still not fully recovered so I'm not pushing it much, especially in the early miles. It did feel good once I as able to stretch my gait out more. Having maintained a minimum weekly LR of 14 miles for so many years before this summer's injury, I'm surprised by how much last w/e's half took out of me. Still learning.

Shows how out of it I am. I noticed JJJ was one of the non-posters recently, but had no idea why. Where'd ya go?

I don't believe in junk miles. I believe in detrimental miles, which I really try not to run. Those are the miles you run when your body is screaming for a rest day. I've learned to listen better. Glad you got your sloggy miles in, Pink.

The snow we got yesterday melted pretty quickly, but we're getting more today. If I go out at lunch as planned, it'll be a messy run. Maybe I'll postpone it till later in the day. I don't mind an hour or two of the bedraggled look, but a whole afternoon might be a bit much. Funny though, my decision of when, where and how much to run has nothing to do with the run itself, but my life in the office afterward.

A belated congrats to OM on your long run yesterday! How are your calves feeling today!

Welcome home JJJ. It's nice to have you back.

I took today off work for my son's jogathon at school. I ran a bit with the younger grades during the first hour of the jog a thon. maybe a couple miles, with about 3 laps of walking. Then when the upper grades had their turn, I ran pretty much the whole hour with a few walk breaks with some of the kids. In total, I estimate I got in somewhere between 7-8 miles. I wasn't keeping real close track of my laps though - just running for fun.

Calves feel fine today, thanks Tammy. Nothing like a little retail therapy (i.e. walking the aisles at Costco) to make things right with the world. And yes, I did not buy those peanut butter filled pretzels, as much as I miss them. Those 17 lbs are staying OFF!

We went to Rhodes the far SE island of the Aegean Sea -its Greek.

We drove to the southern tip of the island were I built a cairn inspired by the thousands of others there.

here's a picture of an isthmus we crossed looking back to the north.

Yes, my husband inspired me. He's been doing Weight Watchers and just passed the 25 lb mark with them. He had lost close to 30 before that. He's 6'2" and just hovering at 200 now, with about 15-20 to go. All I do these days is take his pants to the cleaners to get taken in. Not such a horrible thing.

JJJ, that picture is amazing! Sounds like you had a fabulous time. I was in Greece very briefly when I was just out of college. Maybe for my 50th, we'll go. Better start planning now....

Pink, that's a good video and I know just the person to share it with. Thanks.

OM, awesome job on the weight loss! Are you going on a trip where swimsuits are required.? If not, book one now cuz you two are ready to go

I ran 4 miles before work this morning and was nearly hit by my neighbor taking her kids to school. I saw the jeep coming, thought everything was good, and then she suddenly swerved towards me. Do you think I should be concerned about some neighbor trouble? Maybe she's tired of my trees blowing leaves in her yard or something...

She apologized to me later and said the sun was in her eyes, which it probably was. I apologized for the rude gesture I made before realizing it was her.

My son is coming home for the weekend so looking forward to that.

Dealt with lots of bugs and a yapper running loose. A bittersweet moment was seeing and hearing the flock of Canada geese. I loved being out on the country road and seeing animals but thought of the friends assembling at Royal Vic.
