No fun yet? Not here, that's for sure. Last night, I finally saw the damage to my wife's new car. There's a small crack in the bumper. It's small, but it's there. If it were my car (9 years old, 145,000 miles), I wouldn't care about it. but her car is 4 DAYS OLD. It shouldn't have a cracked bumper. So I really think we need to get this repaired. And I'll be pissed off if it raised our rates again. Pretty soon the insurance company is going to consider us uninsurable and drop us...

And to top it off, I have a tummy ache... :(

Bob I don't blame you for having a stomach ache. I would, too. I'd be so livid about the car. I know it's only a car and the most important thing is that everyone is ok and stuff. But still. Frig, the damn thing isn't even a week old. And it wasn't her fault that some other turdbender ran into her. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Rainy grey day here. But mild. It hadn't started to rain yet when I got up to do my run. And I jumped in the pool when I got home. Ahhh...nice. The temp has dropped a couple of degrees over the last week or so with the cooler weather at night. I think our pool days are limited.

Evelyn didn't sleep well at all last night. I think her teeth are really bothering her.

No fun here yet either. Slept in this morning. We're doing a little shopping this morning and then headed to the pool this afternoon. Mike and Avery only lasted two hours at the beach so today we'll go to the pool so Avery can swim. She loves swimming but wasn't too happy with the waves yesterday and the sand in her bathing suit, hahaha.

Last night we went to Port Royal for dinner at the Dockside. I OD'd on seafood. Got a lobster tail, baked scallops, fried shrimp and king crab legs. It was soooo yummy.

Bob- given the life of the car and the potential additional increase in your rates, would it be possible to pay out of pocket for the repair/replacement of the bumper and not make a claim at all? It's a lot of $ up front, but might save you $ and grief over the long haul.

I have a friend in from out of town. I knew all week she was coming but for some reason it completely slipped my mind yesterday until she called me about 15 min before arriving. Whoops! She had even texted me mid-afternoon but I didn't see it. I wish I had remembered, I'd have packed my run gear so I could run after work yesterday (she didn't arrive til 8pm). Will not be able to do it today.

I don't know how all this works since (before a month ago) I had never been in a car accident. Someone here at work suggested that I not file a claim with my insurance company and that I just let the other guy's company handle the repairs. Well gee, that sounds good. That way I wouldn't have to pay anything up front OR any increase in rates. But I'm not sure if it works like that. The police were there and they took info from both my wife and the other guy, so I don't know if that somehow automatically alerts my insurance company. If so, then I guess I have no way around it. If not, then maybe I have a choice. If the police can somehow determine in writing that the other guy was 100% completely at fault, maybe they'll take care of everything. I don't know...

boB - you always have the option of not filing a claim with your insurance company. Talk to your agent. If you can afford it cash-wise now I try the route Kris suggested.

I just got an email from my boss and I f'ed up. Missed some specifics on a prospect and further research shows that he's not worth the billion we thought initially. Farg farg farg.

also, we're all going to lunch today only I have a report due and I won't be able to go, because I have to leave early to get my stupid filling replaced, because it's cracked. Again.

Clare, I am a development researcher...I research rich people for the university to pursue for gifts and donations, more or less. My friend calls me the "stalkerazzi".

the problem is the info was already presented in the major gifts meeting, and now we have to retract this guy's estimated wealth. I look bad...and more importantly, my boss and the research department look bad.

Stalkerazzi Moe! But I'm sorry to hear about this new glitch...

Okay, I spent half my morning on the phone (i.e. not working). Much of it is good news.

First of all, regarding the accident from a few weeks ago, my insurance company has found one of the other drivers to be at fault. Thus my rates won't rise becuase of me being a "bad driver". It does appear they will go up a little, however, because I can no longer claim a "No Accident" discount. This seems like such a random thing, since (like Litch pointed out yesterday), you don't even have to be inside your vehicle to be involved in an accident. I guess this also means I should be getting my deductable back, although I didn't think of asking about it when I was on the phone.

And as for my wife's incident yesterday, I just spoke to the police in that town, and they have offiicially filed the report, indicating that the other driver was 100% to blame. So that's good (although not unexpected). So now, becuase we have a police report showing he was completely at fault, supposedly I can get the car repaired by filling a claim with that guy's insurance company. And I won't have to get mine involved at all. Without a claim, there's no way my company could raise my rates any more. The only reason I'd have to file a claim with my company is if the guy's insurance has lapsed or something. But so far, from what my wife says, he seems to be a "regular" guy who was just in too much of a hurry to get to work. He didn't seem like some kind of derelict that would be driving around with lapsed insurance.

So yeah. The month of August has been a frustrating one. But in the end, it might not be a huge deal. If our rates go up "a little bit", it won't be as bad as it could have been. Of course, it all depends on exactly what "a little bit" really means...

Hi all - work is in swamping stage, so just a brief hello again. Was uber-sleepy yesterday from lack of sleep/big workday, so my evening was pretty much useless for anything but napping.

boB - that sounds promising at least; hope the rates don't shoot up too much, if at all.

((((Maureen)))) - those "I f'd up" incidents are always pretty tough to deal with

I also loved the Missy Tigress pic - hope we get to see some more real soon.

Cooled off majorly compared to the previous two days. Even heard a TV report or two yesterday of an inordinate number of windshield crackings due to the heat in the Central Valley region (had no idea that could happen)

Bob, that sucks. No advice, just sympathy.

Heather, that meal sounds wonderful!

We're signing mortgage disclosure paperwork today. Got the clean pest and whole home inspections today, just some very minor stuff on there. I saw 3 deer in the yard yesterday at the new place. Gotta get our house rented soon!
