I just found out that my THULE roof rack won't fit on my new Honda Ridgeline. The foot that mounts to the factory rails on our Odyessey won't work with the rails on my Ridgeline. In fact, the LBS did a look-up and THULE dosent make feet that work with that size rail. GRRRRRRR ... Unfortuntaely, I really need this rack to work out because I need to carry 4 bikes and a crazy amount of camping gear on a fam vacation to Acadia in August. The LBS told me there is an adapter from THULE to work with factory load bars but is limited to a 2 bike maximum .. see below:

Does anyone have experience with this system? Can I realistically ge 4 on there and is THULE just being conservative?

Thanks for the feedback ... I'll reallly be bummed if i need to leave bikes behind. I've never been to Acadia and heard the trails are perfect for family rides.

I'm no help with the roof rack, but do you have a hitch? can you beg/borrow/steal a hitch rack for the trip?

I went all McGyvery and made my own adapters (well, made my own rack, too) from pieces scavenged from an old ski rack. Are you McGyverish or do you have access to a McGyverish friend or family member?
