Morning all

2pm here in the UK so I thought starting the thread would be ok.

Have had a lot of time to think about yesterdays 10 mile TT and to be honest I am still disappointed with the time as I know I was going to do much better before the truck put paid to my ride. A friend of mine was watching and he said I should be more thankful that I was able to stop my bike without hitting the lorry. He is not the only person to point out that my life continuing is more important than the time so I will leave it now and focus on going faster next time out.

With that in mind 2 of us meet at 5.30 this morning to play road racing on the 1.25 mile loop near my house, simple game one lap hard one lap easy GAME on :¬) Tough day and by rep 7 my legs were telling me all about Wednesdays ride :¬(

Still a great session and having just run at lunchtime I can confirm that I feel great and am looking forward to my triathlon this Sunday.

MrsG is ill at the moment which is causing a little stress, she hates missing training so I am doing my best to offer to miss training as I am also tired. Spent this morning doing household tasks which she usually does so that she stayed in bed. Doctor thinks it might be an Ulcer :¬(

Onwards and look after yourselves

Good morning all. The heat is still on here but the humidity has lessened, at least for today. I'll take it!

Today was PT for my wonky hips and I wish I could also work out, but I have to actually work late. Too bad! But tomorrow will offer me lots of opportunities for exercise.

Gobi, I hope Mrs. G feels better soon. TW, take care in that "moist heat".

I'm glad you avoided the Truck Gobi. There's always another time for a fast(er) TT. Hope MrsGobi feels better soon.

Erika talking about "eccentricities" yesterday made me recall how Alaska has so many more men than women. "The odds are good, but the goods are odd". I'm sure Erika can relate ...

9 mostly easy-paced miles with little energy. I had planned on adding some striders, but the energy drain made me change it up a little. Instead I ran a mile or two near the end at near MP. That was enough. 9:11 overall pace, so not too bad all in all.

tw, you Southerners talk, like wicked funny.

Pink, Marconi is great, but you have to check out The Beachcomber at Cahoon's Hollow sometime. Open-air restaurant/bar high on a dune overlooking the Nat'l Seashore. A great hangout. Live music a night.

My PT thinks I'm close having something pock through the fascia in my right side. She's good. I didn't even lead her there. Anyway, she worked my psoas and I yelped like a little girl. Will repeat next week.

6 miles GA today. Felt ok. 8:25 avg pace. Humidity is down, temps around 70, so I'll take it.

Gobi, guess there's nothing you can do but accept the outcome of the TT and be grateful something worse didn't happen. I hope MrsG gets well soon.

We had a nice storm roll through last night. I awoke to a beaut of a sunrise peeking over the neighbor's barn. Definitely a morning made for running so I did 7.15 miles.

Gobi, send our best wishes to MrsG.

Ran 5.3 in town last night while DS was at his bootcamp. He is just loving this camp and especially when they get to go to the weight room. He's already showing off how big his '10 yr old biceps' are getting. I told him the girls at school sure are going to go crazy when they see him this fall. He blushed and changed the topic

Lab, he really just wanted to stop and see your car I'm sure. The speed was just an excuse . . . like when I got stopped by a sheriff between Newport and Corvallis . . . he said my "I do 26.2" license plate frame was obscuring my tags. . . and then quickly proceeded to tell me he was a runner also, runs some HM's and asked me how the Newport Marathon was. Then I find out he went to Illinois Valley HS (just down the road from me), so I invited him to come down for the GP HM this fall. Laura just shook her head after that stop . . . wondering how went from getting a possible violation citation to inviting the deputy to our local HM.

irun, I was going to ask how your psoas was doing lately. It's a deep and feisty muscle, ain't it?

Avoiding trucks is a good plan, Gobi. Hope MrsG feels better.

I slept through the sunrise yet again today, so I'm glad Choovie shared hers.

I met my new running pal in the park again today, less than a mile from where I parked my car and going in the opposite direction from where I was heading. So I turned around and followed along with her route. Miles are miles, after all, right? Ran with her all the way back to her house, only a quarter mile from the park entrance and then stayed chatting there with her for close to an hour. Then I ran back through the park to my car, 5.1 miles total for me. I used to think that once I stopped, I'd never be able to start again. Sure I was slow to get going, but I made it all the way. As I said, miles are miles, right?

Good runs, all.

irun.... DH and I love the Cape and have been 3 times now. Unfortunately,we go in September after the Beachcomber is closed for the season. The last two times we rented a cottage in North Truro, but our favourite place is Capt Parker's down in South Yarmouth.... they have the most incredible plate of fried scallops I've ever scarffed down!!

Gorgeous sunrise, Choovie!

I think I had that covered back on Tuesday, TW!

Will RAW, ~5-6 miles, with the LRS group. They're getting upwards of 30 people showing up any given night. Gives me lots of choices for pace!

Cheryl - I love that picture (plus the lightning facebook ones).

Irunmike - I love Cahoon's Hollow too, and have had some wicked good drinks at the Beachcomber! My sister lives on the Cape (Mashpee) and when all our kids were little, we used to toodle around to various beaches with them. We especially liked the steep cliffs at Wellfleet too; the kids climbed up & down them (illegally).

I'm looking forward to a day off tomorrow, although I have to work Saturday. I might run, might spin, might yoga.....so many options! I'm leaning towards run and yoga but it might be spin and yoga instead, depending on the weather.

Enjoy your day everyone.

just heard that James Cracknell (GB Olympic rower GOLD) has been hit by a truck in the USA. Sounds like he was saved by his Helmet but has a fractured skull and other injuries.

I have raced him in a duathlon and he really just likes to do stuff

Heme, I know Capt Parker's! Another fine establishment. North Truro is much more peaceful in September. I guess you must hang out in P-town a lot too. Very....diverse (not that there's anything wrong with that!) Indian Summer is the best on the Cape. We live only about 2 hrs off Cape and visit often.

Susan, for little kids the bay-side beaches are good, especially that <??> Creek Beach in Wellfleet. Lots of tidal pools and large sand flats at low tide to investigate.

Millbot - I hope I wasn't recorded. Damn, she hurts! Thumbs of iron I tell ya. Often I leave there black and blue.

Yes. Without knowing it, I was subscibed in a major way. I selected the following: Don't Subscribe I must be crazy, but for some reason I never want updates on anything.

Lifting and an easy run planned this evening. I'm so freakin' happy about how good my foot feels and scared at the same time that it won't feel this way tomorrow because I'm not going to dose it with 800mg of ibu at bedtime like yesterday. Make sense?

I just got that e-mail from KR today, too. Was surprised to see it, what's the point? My delete key works just fine for things like that.

Gobi, how awful but thank goodness he had a helmet on!! Yes, be careful, indeed.

I've never been to the Cape, but would sure love to someday.

4.4 mile RAL, intended on an easy run but let gravity assist a little too much on the return... 8:22 average. Funny, my legs weren't tired at all yesterday, and even after 9 fast miles I could've gone more. Not today... felt heavy and sluggish and glad to be done. But I did enjoy the break in the clouds and ran in bright sunshine the whole way!

6.4 lovely miles with my Running Free friends, from the store, to the track for a couple of easy 400 m repeats, then back on the gravel path. With everything feeling the way I like it!

Wow!! I got a great e-mail today. I didn't realize there had been 2 MORE POSTS in the 40X40 from 2 weeks ago!! I rushed right to the thread to read them. I was also interested in the e-mail from the San Antonio Spurs begging me to buy tickets to another game since the last one I attended was to watch them play the Cavs 4 YEARS AGO!!

had a nice massage session this morning. weird knew knots on my calves and hamstrings... darn that bicycle. also, it always bugs me when she works on my neck and skull and consistently says to me "wow, you should be having some killer headaches since your muscles are so tight here!"

am i missing out on headaches that are rightfully mine? blocking them out? harumph, not fair at all!

Did the lifting as mentioned while the sun was going down, then went out to the track and ran 5 miles, a little faster than I expected but still easy. I think it was about 85 but there was a nice breeze so it felt okay.
