"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is not involved in setting the price for the drugs it approves."

That doesn't give them a pass for thinking of the ramifications of agreeing to this. They're as responsible for this as the company.

My question is: our system of gov't was set up for checks/balances on all three branches. When the three branches refuse to levy checks and balances on each other, what are we as a people to do?

A friend of mine had a baby at 28 weeks. He's one of the lucky ones--he lived and he's a normal, healthy 2yo. Just this week, he went in for his first set of stitches.

After three miscarriages, she's pregnant again. The plan is for her to get regular injections of progesterone throughout her pregnancy to prevent another pre-term baby. They budgeted for $15/injection. And now it's $1500?! Is she supposed to go without and hope that she doesn't go into pre-term labor? And if she does have this baby early, hope that it's as lucky as their first baby? Never mind the medical costs of 10 weeks in NICU...
