Oh, the pain!!!!!

Here's a really bad idea. Take three months off from teaching the majority of your classes, particularly your super intense hyper advanced boot camp class. Then teach it DURING RACE WEEK and go all out. Oof. I'm walking funny today.

And my knee pain is back. I haven't talked about it much because (a) I'm hoping it'll go away if I ignore it, haha, and (b) I try not to be a whiner. But oof and double oof. We were running stairs last night in class, and I had to cut it short because my knee was SCREAMING at me.

I still ran 3.35 of intervals after class though. Felt fine doing that! Has felt pretty much craptastic ever since.

Happy Thursday, all.

Ouch Theia!

I've got a monster blister on my right pinky toe that is killing me. I wore some new shoes on the first day of school and am paying the price big time. I just love heels and they looked so cute! But I had to give up the extra loop this morning and take care of it because the inseam on my running shoe was rubbing it raw.

And in case you were wondering, the only bandaids in my house are Princess and the Frog ones.

(Sorry, but it just seemed like after that kind of post, you could use a little diversion )

I had a nice hill run last night. It was warm, but not too bad. And not at all humid. Today will either be a day off or a very easy run. We'll see...

Hmm. Sorry to hear about the knee Theia.

I planned to run 12-13 this morning so I got up at 4:30. Unfortunately once I got out there I was slow, achey and crampy. Not sure why, but it really sucked. So I called it a day after 7 miles. I still feel really crappy though - hopefully I'm not getting sick or something.

Good morning all! After sitting myself down and having a talk with myself as well as a great talk with coach, I decided to make my morning routine happen again. It is the key to consistent, uninterrupted running whether I'm training for a specific race or not. And consistent runs make me a happy, well balanced person. And thus I hauled my carcass out this morning for a lovely 6 miles in 60 degree temps -- yay!!!! May continue my yoga trend for the week with a DVD at home this evening.

Thanks! I definitely recommend starting it at your DD's school if you can. Starting a program in my community was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Seriously. It is super rewarding and the girls LOVE it. It is really nice to feel like you are helping mentor young girls to be strong, healthy, confident leaders too. You may not be able to change the world, but you can make a difference for people. :)

This is definitely something I really believe in! I already sent in a request for information I may have to let go of something else to fit it all in, but I'm really excited about the possibilities. I have a bunch of questions about starting a program - the nearest chapter to us is 3 hours away. Would you mind if I PM you?
Of course not - I'd love to talk with you about it!! It does take some leg work to get the program started, but it isn't too bad and of course is well worth it.

I didn't have time to run yesterday evening. By the time I got the girls picked up, got home and made supper, ate, tidied up, I barely had time to make the Fiddlers Run meeting. Whew! The run is coming together well, though. We're up on registrations compared to this time last year so that's nice. I'm getting very excited, just over a week away now!

I didn't run this morning because of the crazy thunder and lightening storms we were having. I was too scared! I'm hoping it'll be better later to get a run in. Still very grey and wet out there but the thunder seems to have given up.

Laughing out loud about boB's observation of Theia's comment. I was thinking to myself "Dave's not there yet."

I took yesterday off to line some soccer fields. I'll run today at lunch. Taper madness continues.

C25K W5D2 this morning. Felt pretty good, but now I've backed myself in to a corner where I either run 3 consecutive days or skip a run. Boo!

I had another crappy night of sleep. Not AS crappy as the night before though so I'm functioning slightly better today. that might change as the day wears on though. Amazing how much better I felt after running last night though. I got home and felt rotten headachey and had kind of an icky tummy and I really wanted to lie down but I knew if I did that there'd likely be NO running done at all so I just put on my running duds and figured I'd start running and if it made me feel worse I'd turn around and come home. But instead I felt IMMENSELY better. Got home and felt great actually. I was hoping it'd translate into a good night's sleep but alas, no, 'twas not to be.

I've got speedwork on the calendar tonight but if, after two nights of crap sleep, I'm super duper wiped out I may just run an easy 5, or maybe even the hilly route. It's also raining - a steady all day drizzle, which may affect my running decision. I will run, I'm just not sure what.

Happy Running!!

Interesting email I just received... Reach the Beach is expanding their race events to include a spring adventure through MA, details here - dates are 5/20-21. Looks like the same dates for the New England Ragnar race

Argh. Lots of roadblocks today regarding Girls on the Run. There is no local Council for us, so I would need to establish one to the tune of $7500! And it's not just the money...ok, it's mostly the money...but it's also the time, and needing to have a Board and training and...Holy Moly!

But I'm not giving up....yet!

BTW...in case you didn't already know this, Mindi ROCKS! She has been wicked helpful to me today.

NCRG, what if you don't go through GOTR? What about contacting your local Girl Scouts/Boys & Girls Club/Girls Inc/Big Brothers Big Sisters/YMCA/etc to see if you can volunteer there and start a running club? Start small, no outlay of moolah, and still make a difference.

Thanks for the knee hugs. :) I'll be fine. I've been dealing with this (ITBS) for years, off and on. When I ran 7.5 on Monday, both knees were aching AND I had major heel and arch pain in my left foot (same foot that used to be plagued with plantar fasciitis). At least last night it was only the one knee! :D
