It looks like an elliptical, but it's different.

I go to a 24 hr gym, and by the time I get there, there is no one to tell me how to use the thing!

Any ideas? Should I hop on and just go for it as if I am on an elliptical? I'm worried I might fall off.

Hey Tricia - that machine is an interesting one; I had a go at myself a week ago or so.

There's three ways you can use it - as a stairclimber type machine, and as a short-loop and long-loop elliptical motion strider. The easiest thing is to get it going into stairclimber mode. It's a little more tricky to get it into short looping and long looping motions (I found that it was easier to go stride backward than forward at first) and if the stride mechanics aren't quite right, your legs kinda' go whichever way the machine wants for a few seconds before it settles down.

Give it a try at the lowest resistance possible - I guess you could ask the person there, but I think only practice will make perfect. Even at its lowest resistances, I found it was a pretty decent workout. However, the possible variety you get from the machine might be outweighed by the trickiness of getting it to do what you want it to do (you might have better luck at it than I do, however.)

Thanks! Today is a workout day, so I will give it a go tonight. Hopefully no one will be there.

But then there are those pesky security cameras that record our every move.

Hope I don't end up on youtube.
