I was right :)

Good luck Heme and Happyfeat as you race this weekend.

Leaving in a few minutes to get to my relay exchange. My leg is only 4.2 miles. Signed in a masters' team from San Antonio last night who say they can run our winning time from last year. Going to be some racing going on this morning! We ran 2:50 last year and think we'll probably have to go 2:45 this year to be on the podium. Only 6:18 per mile average.

I'll report in sometime after the race.

Cool, OM! I liked that race. All I'm gonna say is... don't forget your chip. I hope you like getting up at oh-dark-ugly early and starting out in the dark. Fun race though, not a challenging course at all. You'll love it!

"only" a 6:18 mile average. You go, ksrunr. Will be fun to hear about it.

tomwhite, I stayed away from the Honeybuns and anything else that bad. Just when you think you get free license to do whatever, the world doesn't end and ruins it all. So much for living each day like it's your last, right?

Heading out for 10-11 miles later. Gotta let breakfast settle. DH did an awesome job with eggs, crab, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and cheese. Yum.

Hey KR peeps! I'm back from my hiatus! It's official - I'm now a minimalist runner!

Started running barefoot at Easter, and tried my new Branca running sandals this morning. Love, love, LOVE them! It is so amazing to run without knee pain - I cannot tell you how thrilled I am!

Been going really slow. Didn't even run but a few times after my marathon on New Year's Day. Now I'm wanting to run every day!

The soles are navy, laces are red/white/blue. I really like that you can pick the colors of the soles and laces. I should have spent more time being careful with how I cut the sole to fit my foot, but I was too excited about getting out to try them. Will have to watch where the lace comes out over my right big toe - rubs a little there but no blister today. Otherwise, just feels great!

Now I'm gonna mop the floor. Ew.

HI all; I'm back!

Say hi to dad for us TW; I"m sure he'll be glad to see ya.

OM-I've run Disney once. Not as much inside the park as I thought and there are some boring back roads. But all in all a good race to run. If you put your name on your Bib the park characters will cheer for you. Pretty flat course will one nasty overpass about 23 or 24 as I recall. Freezing cold waiting to start the race (off weather year) and then pretty humid during the race.

Hi Laura - I've missed hearing from you. Interesting shoes; hope they work for you. At my age I'd be afraid to try.

Enoy your run Erika. The eggs and cheese part of breakfast sounds greta. My wife would love it all.

Well we finished rd master and 17th oa. of 2575 registered teams. Brutal hot and 90% humidity; wind at our backs made it worse. I ran 6:20 flat and my team oa ran 6:16. We finished in 2:43 and change which was 6 + minutes faster than last year. But we were delegated to 3rd place. 1st ran 2:37 and second ran 2:41. We can get the second place team next year. One was from Houston and one from San Antonio. If were hand picked 6 masters from CC we couldn't run 2:37. OA winning time was 2:17 w/course record around 2:07.

Next race not till July 4th so I've got time to train for a while.

Have a great day; sorry no looting yet. :)

Hi all.....and welcome back Laura....nice feet

Like OM says, day ain't over yet, although technically it's not supposed to end today, it's just supposed to be the rapture. As everyone knows, the END of the world ain't till 12-21-12, or is that just hype for the movie?????.....at any rate we got a year and half of hard partyin' left.....or somepun like that.

Nice runnin' ks

that'd be a good race for you OM, never been to Florida myself, so I got no input on that stuff, but you deserve some magic. I got a feeling you'll do well, I think you're a natural and really haven't even tapped your potential yet.

I want some of Erika's breakfast too.....that sounds yummy........, but you have to stick some avocados in there.......(the only way I'll eat eggs anymore is to disguise the taste with lots of veggies).

enjoy the visit with your father TW

No running for me, had to work today.

Wonderin' how HappyFeat, Heme, & Tamster are doing today. I drove by one of Tamster's LR starting points twice today....didn't see her car though.

Excellent relay, KS...... stiff competition there!

Welcome back, Laura!! As KS said... interesting sandals.... and my feet hurt just looking at them.

Hi TW, Johnny and Erika!!

Today was the second of the trail series, and was being held about 20 minutes from my home. I ran about a mile of the trail as a warm up, trying to fathom the course markings, as they didn't match up with what I'd remembered from the course map and hey, I know this venue like the back of my hand. The about 20 minutes before the race started they announced that they'd made a few last minute changes, and the longer race would be 10.5K instead of the 12.3K they'd advertised. Whatever... but now I had no idea how to gauge the effort, as I didn't know which of the many nasty hills we'd be tackling. It was a wave start and as I approached the mats, I tried to figure out who in the early waves might be in my AG. Spotted one woman with a Camelback pack who looked to be about my age heading out on the wave ahead. The waves were spaced about 3 minutes apart, so I knew if I could get her in my sights I could beat her. So I took off with young girl in her 20's who paced me for about the first K. We stayed together thru a few small hills, then I hit a big downhill and took off, dropping her handily. there were some seconds of confusion at the first aid station, where the course split off into the short and long segments and no course marshall was there to direct the traffic. The poor aid station volunteers were left to sort out the runners coming thru. I passed several runners and then on the biggest nastiest hill just past 5K, spotted my prey walking near the top. Aha! She was out of sight again by the time I reached the crest, but I zipped thru the twisty downhill section that followed and closed in on her again as we started into a long section of switchback climbs. Caught her as we reached a nice section of double track. We chatted a bit as we came into the next aid station.... she stopped for water and I continued thru, not seeing her again until the finish. The course twisted and turned, up and down thru the forest mountain bike trails ... but by now we were pretty spread out. I managed to pass another couple of guys and closed in on a younger woman ahead, but she had more gas left in the home stretch than I. I felt I had no reason to leave it all out there, so let her go and finished on my own terms.

Finished 62/99 OA, 15/40 women and 1/8 AG.

Felt pretty good... hamstring, foot and knee all behaved themselves.

Good luck tomorrow, HappyFeat!!!
