Yup...

For me, it's at mile 12.

And, I've managed to hit it and slide right down the front face of it for the last 3 attempts at 12 miles.

Ok, truth.....only the last two were "attempts", but the one before that was an epic pain-fest to the point that I don't really count it.

This week, what irritates me most is that I'm pretty sure I ran into the wall because I was stupid.

I got too late of a start for the run.

The morning got hot.

I got cranky.

I got too hot.

I called for a ride home.

Rabbit was invovled in a work project so I was on my own, so I don't know whether or not I would have been able to tough out the last three miles if she'd been there or not. Here's the thing, though..... She's not going to be there for the race in october, so at soem point, I have to be able to run these things on my own. I've been making decent progress with my shorter runs, but feel like I'm going BACKWARD on the long ones.

Sure, it's May and there are many months between now and October....

I just feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over, and I'm not doing it well.

This, in spite of a drastic drop in my 5k time.

Where did my endurance go?

The Bay Swim is 3 Saturdays away. Maybe, sacrificing a swim each week will help.

I miss my three sport weeks, too. I liked biking, and now when I do it it's such a change in routine that it affects the whole next week. We rode this week with the AMBA people. They are a great bunch of folks who come each spring to tour the area. Rabbit and I did the first day of 40 miles with them. That's farther than she's ever ridden, and a decent amount more than I've done in the last year or so. My behind survived it pretty well. She really doesn't "dig" cycling the same way that I do...she'd much rather be on a mountain trail. Whereas I'd much rather be on the roads. So, I hit the trails with her once in awhile, and she hits the road with me once in awhile.

The Blalock Lake triathlon is NEXT WEEKEND!! Where did the time go? holy cow!

I have a feeling that it's going to be a "fun" weekend. I'm supposed to do a 14 mile run that weekend, and we're going to have to do it on Sunday since we're racing on Saturday. My goal is to finish the race and not be completely beat up, while pushing as much as possible on the run. Rabbit's goal is to catch me on the run. Hills, ya say? Oh yeah...we're going to be loving those. or....not. lol

So, now that I've had my pity part for the entire world to see....

back to work,

and finishing a manuscript.
