In case you don't check coolrunning's Race Reports area, here's the same thing I posted over there.

If you've read my reports before, you know that they are usually long. If you have not, fair warning. This is the longest report, by a lot, that I've ever posted here.

The Tale of the Triple

Short version: In preparation for my 'quadzilla' (4 marathons in 4 days) later this month, I decided I'd better try a triple (3 in 3 days) first.

So over labor day weekend, I ran the Pocatello Marathon, the New Mexico Marathon, and the Amercian Discovery Trail Marathon.

As with just about anything... especially almost 79 miles of running... some aspects went well and some did not.

Do not go in there expecting stories of sub-3s, BQs, and hardware.

I had fun nonetheless. And I did not, in fact, die.

Nicely done, Stevie Ray. That's an accomplishment to be proud of!

Mexican food sure is tasty, but it's the absolute worst pre-run meal for me. Now post-run is a different story.

Good luck in the quadzilla!

The funny thing is, I've eaten Mexican food before a race before. In fact, when traveling, I've had to resort to...yeeep... Taco Bell. And I've been fine. Usually.

youjustneverknow

I certainly do not recommend it to the runners I work with, though .

Of course, I also recommend ice baths... something else I almost never personally do.

Thanks for the nice comments. A new report about my next weekend (this past weekend) will be up in a bit.

Well done, Robert.

Tahoe's gonna be a logistical cakewalk, comparitively. Plus, you have a natural ice bath at the finish of each day.

Out of curiousity, what is your PR for number of marathons (or beyond) in one calendar year?

Way to go, hope you're staying healthy.

Sunday's Skagit Flats was my 40th of 2007, which is my record.

Last year I did 36 total... which was my old record.

Seriously, wonderful job, sr - I always like reading your RRs. I think you'll do just fine in your quest for a quadzilla

I shake my head in wonderment and pity.
