I do believe that the lining of my head is trying to escape through my nose.

If this is what allergy suffers have to deal with all the time, I'm really sorry for them.

I hope it's not.

If it's allergies, I'm going to be mightily annoyed.

A week of self-selected OTC medication has left me:

jittery

anxious

cotton-mouthed

dry and non-productive coughing instead of sleeping

and still feeling dizzy when I think about closing my eyes, let alone actually closing them.

I relented and made an appointment with an ACTUAL physician.

I also took myself off of all the meds that I had put myself on.

Here's the wild thing:

I feel better now than I did when I was medicated.

I'm not great, by any means, but at least I don't have a constant cough.

My throat isn't terribly sore, but it's not good....it's a lot better than it was.

so, the $25,000 question is......am I better because a week's gone by?

Or, am I better because the meds did something?

I don't really know.

The result of all of this is that today's morning run was aborted because I didn't feel "right." I ran on Saturday not feeling "great" but, not feeling great is different than not feeling right. Make sense? yeah, it does....you know it does. So, instead of running with Rabbit, I biked next to her and she got to run her pace instead of having to slow down with me. She popped off 4 miles in just under 34 minutes, so she's no slacker that's for sure. I got a mild warm-up in, and then we tried to get some balance work going.....hah! Balance....my nemesis. With my lack of proprioceptive abilities, and the gunk that's taken up residence in my ears balance work was a joke today. I got the spins just thinking about closing my eyes...she wouldn't even let me do our normal routines.

So, here I sit all not-doped-up waiting to get some dinner, and wondering if it's going to even taste good, considering that I can't smell anything.

I just got back from the doctor.

She's sorta irritated with me, I think......because I didn't commit NOT to run the 5k tonight that's on my schedule.

Instead, I got a steroid injection.....

steroid prescription...

antibiotics

and some stuff that's supposed to help with the drippy-drippy down the back of my throat.

The thing is, I feel BETTER when I swim or run, so I don't want to just wallow in feeling like crap. I want to work the gunk out.

I also got a peak flow meter that I'm supposed to use daily for the next week to find out how I'm doing. gah!

Like I have time to do that 3 times a day.

Thanks for saying I put a picture in your head.....

my grandmother used to tell my sister and me to write letters that "showed" her what was going on rather than "telling" her. Nice to know that I learned that lesson.
